Is Mobb Deep On The Verge Of A Breakup?

Havoc issues blistering series of personal attacks on Prodigy over Twitter; tweets congrats on P’s ‘engagement’ to Rihanna. By Rob Markman Mobb Deep Photo: Robert Adam Mayer Mobb Deep used to rap, “We’re in this together, son, your beef is mines,” but now there appears to be an internal battle between Havoc and Prodigy . Early Monday morning (April 9), Hav took to Twitter and sarcastically congratulated Prodigy and Rihanna on their engagement, then made serious allegations about his rhyme partner’s sexuality. It’s all very strange, but sources close to Havoc confirmed with MTV News that this is no hack. Things started to spin out of control at around 3 a.m. ET when Hav tweeted: “congrats to P @prodigymobbdeep and @rihanna for getting married soon!! @rihanna please confirm!” There was no confirmation from the Talk That Talk singer, but that didn’t stop the Grammy Award-winning producer from continuing his rant. “Prodigy abitch and I’m gonna show it, follow!! Ground breaking new,” Hav wrote soon after. Things got even more scathing when Havoc charged that his childhood friend was involved in a homosexual relationship during his three-year jail bid . “I got n—as in the jail system to to back up that prodigy was f—ing homes in jail,” he wrote. “Now i will silence… and let the jails take care of the rest.” But Havoc didn’t “silence,” instead the temperature continued to rise as Hav posted tweets throughout the morning saying he “had to smack P” and went on to threaten Prodigy. “Next time I see u, u getting layer out, con camera.” Mobb Deep released their debut album, Juvenile Hell, in 1993 and have gone on to drop seven LPs together. Throughout their career, Mobb Deep have stood as one of the pillars of New York’s street hip-hop scene. During an October 2011 episode of “RapFix Live,” both Havoc and Prodigy appeared on the show and talked about their legacy as a group. “We been through a lot of eras in hip-hop music, and every album we have the attitude like it’s our first album,” Prodigy said. The group planned to release their self-titled eighth LP later this year, but now the future of the duo seems to be in question. There’s still no word as to what caused the rift, but Havoc is clearly no shook one as he went on fearlessly sending out barbs. He even challenged Prodigy to a fist fight: “LET’S DO A ONE ON ONE!!!!! ME AND P!!! HE SO BUTTTT HE WILL AVOID!!!!” The barrage continued through the a.m. and ended with Havoc tweeting, “Good morning gay P!” Prodigy has yet to respond via Twitter and a rep for the rapper had not responded to MTV News’ request for comment at press time. Happy 22nd Birthday, Kristen Stewart!

With ‘On the Road,’ ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ and ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 2,’ it looks like 22 may be KStew’s biggest year yet. By Fallon Prinzivalli Kristen Stewart Photo: Michael Caulfield/ Getty Images That’s right, “Twilight” fans, the actress who plays one of our favorite heroines turned 22 on Monday (April 9)! The past year brought Kristen Stewart plenty to be proud of with the incredible success of “Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” and her upcoming year is looking to be even greater. This summer, Stewart takes on a different role from the accident-prone Bella Swan in “Snow White and the Huntsman,” where she will battle for her life as Snow White. With her shield and sword, Stewart teams up with the Huntsman ( Chris Hemsworth ) to rid their kingdom of the wicked Queen Ravenna ( Charlize Theron ). And while Theron’s and Stewart’s characters may not get along, Theron had nothing but “mad love” for the actress when wishing Stewart a happy birthday. Theron said, “Dude, happy frickin’ birthday. You’re awesome. I feel honored to know you. And just keep rocking, man. You’re amazing. Mad love.” The “Arrested Development” actress signed off by blowing Stewart a kiss. Hemsworth also had a birthday message for Stewart, saying, “Hey Kristen, happy bloody birthday! Have a great day. Lots of love.” Next up in the starlet’s grand 22nd year is “On the Road,” the film adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s highly praised novel. Stewart plays 16-year-old Marylou, the new wife of Dean Moriarty with an affinity for marijuana. The film will show yet another diverse side to Stewart’s acting abilities that will no doubt attract new fans who didn’t board the “Twilight” train. And for those of us who were not only aboard that train, but conducting it, in November we’ll see Stewart return as Bella Cullen in the “Twilight Saga” finale, “Breaking Dawn — Part 2.” We were already treated to a short, but very sweet, “Breaking Dawn” trailer sneak peek last month that has the fanbase already buzzing. And with all that KStew has planned this year, it sounds like that buzz is only going to get louder. What KStew movie are you most excited to see this year? Leave your comment below! Lola Versus: Drool Over Greta Gerwig As She Cries Over Your New RoboCop, Joel Kinnaman

Maybe it’s because I’ve been obsessing more than usual over Joel Kinnaman since rolling through all of Season 1 of AMC’s The Killing in a matter of days (I know, late to the party), but I dare any other Kinnaman-lover out there to watch the new trailer for Lola Versus and not fixate on the future RoboCop ‘s 10 seconds of trailer screen time. Phew. That said, it’s quite winning on its own, thanks to Greta Gerwig ‘s charm and the hazy-golden gleam of the New York City streets she’s traipsing along as she tries to figure out what to do after fiance Kinnaman calls off their engagement. In the span of two minutes I was hooked by Gerwig’s adorable moping, Zoe Lister-Jones’ spunk, the relatable crisis that is turning 30, single or otherwise, and those fleeting moments of beautiful Joel Kinnaman. Oh, did I mention Joel Kinnaman is in this? What, may I not covet Kinnaman like you covet your wispy WASP-y dream girl (whom I also adore because Gerwig is irresistibly appealing even when chattering about weddings and boys)? Anyhow! After many a micro-indie outing for Gerwig ( LOL , Hannah Takes the Stairs ), bigger indies ( Greenberg ) and a few mainstream toe-dips ( Arthur , No Strings Attached ), Lola Versus might be the charming vehicle that shows mainstream audiences why we love her so. Co-scripted by director Daryl Wein and co-star Lister-Jones (who both acted in and wrote 2009’s break-up indie Breaking Upwards ), Lola Versus will be distributed by Fox Searchlight, who’s pushing the film’s similarities with 2009’s hit (500) Days of Summer . Head to Apple for HD. Synopsis: Greta Gerwig plays Lola, a 29-year-old woman dumped by her longtime boyfriend Luke (Joel Kinnaman) just three weeks before their wedding. With the help of her close friends Henry (Hamish Linklater) and Alice (Zoe Lister-Jones), Lola embarks on a series of desperate encounters in an attempt to find her place in the world as a single woman approaching 30. What do you think — is Lola Versus the new (500) Days of Summer ? (500) Days of Kinnaman , perhaps? Lola Versus will premiere at Tribeca before opening in limited release on June 8.

Spoiler Alert: Captain America Survives The Avengers, Will Return for Captain America 2 in 2014

If you wanted to remain completely spoiler-free going into this summer’s modest little art pic The Avengers , too bad! Disney has gone ahead and ruined the surprise. So, fine. Captain America apparently does not perish at the end of The Avengers , but will indeed live on to deal with his personal issues in Captain America 2 , due to hit theaters on April 14, 2014. Find the official word and a new image after the jump. I kid. Of course Captain America lives through The Avengers ! How else will he and the rest of his teammates cash in on the endless stream of superhero sequels to follow? From Disney: “The Walt Disney Studios has announced a release date for Marvel Studios’ sequel to the blockbuster Captain America: The First Avenger on April 4, 2014. The second installment will pick-up where the highly anticipated Marvel’s The Avengers (May 4, 2012) leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world.” I mean, if it gives us more Chris Evans crouching in tight leather getups, let the sequels never end.

Elise Testone Wants To Know What Love Is

Following Elise Testone singing a version of Foreigner’s “I Wanna Know What Love Is” on American Idol last night, Jennifer Lopez told the finalist that she really likes her outfit. In other words: Uh-oh. Elise could be in trouble. No panelist exactly swooned over the performance, with Steven Tyler wondering if it was the proper song choice and Randy Jackson saying there were pitch problems. Is the bottom three in Testone’s future? Critique for yourself now: Elise Testone – “I Wanna Know What Love Is” Which women did stand out on Idol this week? Our ranking of performers from this gender would be: Skylar Laine on “Wind Beneath My Wings.” Jessica Sanchez on ” How Will I Know? ” Hollie Cavanagh on “What A Feeling.” Testone’s “I Wanna Know What Love Is.”

The Situation: Out of Rehab!

The Situation has been discharged from the Cirque Lodge rehab center in Utah, where he was receiving treatment for substance abuse, according to reports. Now the real test for the Jersey Shore star … STAYING clean. Sitch, a.k.a. Mike Sorrentino, checked in to the famous clinic weeks ago. Clearly he tried to keep it on the DL, but after the story leaked, he admitted he had to “get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion.” The Situation’s drinking problem, while never addressed by the star, was also said to have become a problem multiple times over the course of five seasons. It’s unclear if he’s quit boozing for good, but if so, that’s going to be quite a twist for a reality show predicated around binge drinking and subsequent boning. Hence the rumors that Jersey Shore may be phasing out Situation (and pregnant Snooki) after the new season, which they are both set to film this summer. We know Snooki will cut a bitch if you mess with her kid … but a pregnant girl in the Shore house? With a sober Mike? Can that really make for quality TV? Tell us: Would you watch Jersey Shore without Snook and Mike?

What Ryan Seacrest’s ‘Today’ Reveal Means For Tomorrow

‘American Idol’ host is setting himself up for a long career and (eventually) the ‘Today’ anchor job with new NBC gig. By John Mitchell Ryan Seacrest Photo: Getty Images This morning on “Today,” Ryan Seacrest confirmed a few rumors and shot down a few others. The “American Idol” and “E! News” host and reality-TV mogul announced that he was officially joining the NBC team, beginning with its prime-time coverage of the London Olympics this summer, and that he would continue on as host of “Idol” while scaling back his on-air work at E! “I’ve worked with the E! network for years, and NBC Universal and E! are in the same family. The plan is for me to join the NBC family and continue to have a role on the E! network,” Seacrest told “Today” anchor Matt Lauer. “The first assignment for me will be with the prime-time team at the Olympics on NBC.” After establishing what he would be doing, Seacrest and Lauer continued through an awkward conversation about what he would not be doing, at least not just yet: gunning to take over Lauer’s anchor job on “Today” when his contract expires later this year. “I see you doing this as long as you want to,” Seacrest said to Lauer when pressed about his rumored negotiations with “Today” producers. “So the question is: How long will you be on the ‘Today’ show?” “We have talked about this, joked about this,” Lauer continued. “There is no tension here.” With Lauer’s future with “Today” still in question, Seacrest’s arrival at NBC brings with it some major implications. Here are the top three: Seacrest Is Being Primed to Replace Lauer During their back-and-forth over whether he’d been approached to replace Lauer, Seacrest played coy, joking that his conversations with “Today” producers “were mostly about filling in to do weather.” He never explicitly denied that he was in talks to host, making the subtext of the conversation pretty clear: the anchor job at “Today” remains Lauer’s as long as he wants it, but Seacrest is largely being brought onboard to wait in the wings and learn the ropes. Lauer is reportedly deep in tough negotiations with “Today” and NBC to remain on the program, and the consensus opinion seems to be that the network is looking to do whatever it takes, including meeting his reported $25 million salary demand, to keep him for the near future. That’s a lot of money, but the “Today” show is a cash cow — generating $450 million in ad revenue in 2010, according to New York magazine — and the net sees Lauer as integral to keeping “Today” on top. Lauer provides the stability that is key to success in morning news and is a master at mixing the serious and the silly, which is important when your job is to both report on the war in Afghanistan and later interview a “Toddlers & Tiaras” pageant mother. Seacrest already has the lighthearted side of things down, but he needs to bulk up his bona fides as a credible journalist. Don’t be surprised if, following his coverage of the Olympics, the various NBC News properties (“Today” included) take him on as a correspondent to cover some serious stuff. They are going to groom him to be a TV news Renaissance man, just like Matt Lauer. Seacrest Poses More of a Threat to the “Today” Ladies Seacrest’s appearance on “Today” pretty much changed the question from “will he” to ” when will he” join the “Today” team and in what capacity. But if they are grooming him to replace Lauer eventually, it will disrupt the chain of succession at “Today.” When Katie Couric left the show, Lauer stepped into the alpha anchor chair, after years of paying his dues as newsreader and co-anchor. Anne Curry would rightfully assume that position if Lauer left, but many have commented that she has had a “rocky transition to her new role” as co-anchor since Meredith Vieira’s departure. Seacrest’s hiring makes it seem like NBC execs are stacking the deck — and not in Savannah Guthrie’s or Curry’s favor. If the “Idol” host leapfrogs Curry somewhere down the road for the lead anchor chair, it will also keep Guthrie from ascending through the ranks the way her colleagues have before her. “Today” won’t demote Curry in any way — and, to be fair, she hasn’t been all that bad — but the lukewarm reception she’s received makes it unlikely she’ll ever be made lead anchor either. Guthrie, however, has more to worry about. She often steps in when Curry or Lauer are out, and if Seacrest is being groomed for Lauer’s spot, producers may opt to have him step up where she normally would. Seacrest Isn’t Going Anywhere Anytime Soon With his plans to continue on as host of “American Idol” and keep his thriving reality-show empire alive on E!, Seacrest will become an even more powerful media figure after he joins NBC. He has his fingers in just about every genre of television except serious news, and that’s essentially what NBC is offering him. In so doing, it also secures his place in the most stable arena in the media canon. The popularity of reality TV ebbs and flows — remember that “Survivor” and “American Idol” were once the top shows on television and now regularly attract only half the audience they did at their peak — so staking your career to it is kind of like building a house on sand. Seacrest has become a mogul by seizing on zeitgeist — “Idol,” the “Kardashian” franchise he built as a producer, his red-carpet work with E! — but he’s also a 37-year-old man who knows the things that have brought him so much success will eventually fade away. But the news never goes out of style. By getting in good with NBC, Seacrest also secures himself the long-term broadcast career he may have otherwise missed out on had he hedged his bets entirely on “Idol” and his reality-TV empire. For a little perspective, the “Today” show has been on the air since 1952 and is the fourth-longest-running television series ever, behind only “Meet the Press,” “The CBS Evening News” and “Hallmark Hall of Fame.” “American Idol” is puttering along with series-low ratings in its 11th season. So what Ryan Seacrest was really announcing this morning on “Today” was his next chapter. Sure, the timeframes haven’t been set and the ink isn’t entirely dry, but his decision to join NBC as an on-air player marks the transition to a new career. It may resemble the old one, but make no mistake: We are being primed for Ryan Seacrest: News Man. What do you think of Seacrest’s announcement? Let us know in the comments!

Kanye West: Big Sean Will Be ‘Best Rapper Of All Time’

After rocking mtvU’s Spring Break at the Palms in Las Vegas, Sean reveals his G.O.O.D. Music mentor’s bold prediction. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Big Sean at 2012 Spring Break Photo: David Becker/ Getty Images Big Sean ‘s bash at the Palms Resort and Casino in Las Vegas might have been his first mtvU Spring Break outing, but we’re betting it won’t be his last. After all, Sean told MTV News his mentor, Kanye West , revealed he thinks the Finally Famous MC will eventually rank as the best rapper of all time. After rocking the Palms’ poolside stage with “Do It,” “Marvin & Chardonnay” and “Dance (A$$),” the Detroit MC told MTV News, “It’s just cool as hell, period, because I used to look at all the Spring Break performances when I was coming up. To be doing it myself, I can’t even be more thankful.” While his Palms party automatically ranked as Sean’s favorite, he also recalled an unforgettable run in Miami. “Besides this one, I went down to Miami one year,” Sean said. “Drinks, mixed with girls, mixed with Detroit players — that’s a crazy combo.” As far as how one might deal with those next-day hangovers, Big Sean advised, “Don’t worry about the morning after. It’ll make the night that much better.” For the hardworking G.O.O.D. Music rapper, we’re sure the break came in handy. Not only does he have the G.O.O.D. Music compilation dropping sometime this year, Sean is also planning to release his sophomore LP. “My album’s coming this summer. I can probably say at the latest at the end of August. I got Tyga on there. I got, of course, ‘Ye on there,” he revealed. Somewhere in between all those sessions is when Kanye made his bold and surprising prediction: “I’m here kickin’ with ‘Ye,” Sean recalled, “and ‘Ye tellin’ me I’m gonna be the best rapper of all time.” Related Videos 2012 mtvU Spring Break Performances Artists Celebrate Spring Break 2012 Related Photos Spring Break 2012 | Live Performances Related Artists Big Sean Kanye West
