Leave it to Lin-Manuel Miranda to find a powerful, unique way to honors those killed in the Orlando shooting early Sunday morning. The creator and star of Hamilton, which dominated the 2016 Tony Awards last night, made a powerful statement while accepting the Tony Award for Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre category. It was written in sonnet form and it opened by thanking his wife, before Miranda moved on to paying tribute to the 50 victims who were killed inside a gay nightclub . “We chase the melodies that seem to find us until they’re finished songs and start to play,” Miranda said. “When senseless acts of tragedy remind us that nothing here is promised, not one day.” He later added: Love is love is love is love is love is love is love is love cannot be killed or swept aside. “I hadn’t written anything going into today. I hadn’t heard about the day’s events until after our Tony rehearsal,” Miranda said backstage after the ceremony, during which Hamilton won 11 awards including best musical. “I’d always had this time between rehearsal and tonight to think about what I’d say if I was lucky enough to be called up, and it sort of informed all of it… “We live in this world where beautiful and horrible things exist at the same time and often on the same day. … Theater doesn’t exist without the LGBTQ community. It’s the cornerstone of our industry.” Earlier in the Tony Awards, host James Corden also honored the victims of the Orlando shooting. “Hate will never win,” he remarked in pre-taped remarks before the event began. Tickets for ONE Musicfest , the 7th annual Southeast fall music festival, went on sale this week. Ice Cube and Erykah Badu will headline the event, with special performances from by Busta Rhymes, Gary Clark Jr., A$AP Ferg, Andra Day, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Jazmine Sullivan and BJ The Chicago Kid. But according to RadarOnline , it appears that love has been replaced with fear… Khloe Kardashian has finally decided to walk away from her marriage to Lamar Odom, but convincing the former basketball star their relationship’s over hasn’t been very easy. “He’s totally lost it, calling her every name under the sun and yelling at her for breaking promises she made to him on his death bed,” an insider told RadarOnline.com. “It’s pretty vicious,” continued the insider, noting 36-year-old Odom, who nearly died after an overdose at a Nevada brothel last fall, “has been bombarding her with bitter texts and drunken rambling messages that are starting to scare her.” Sounds like ol’ Lammy Lam-Lam is back up to his old tricks… The situation has escalated so much that Kardashian is now looking into all her options, including legally keeping her ex away. “She’s now considering a restraining order against him because he’s been threatening all kinds of crazy things, from spilling all her secrets to hoping she drops dead,” revealed the insider. Out of pocket… Woman Pours Vodka In 7-Year-Old’s Eyes A woman vacationing in Florida is in police custody after officers say she she poured vodka in the eyes of a 7-year-old. Why??? Because they splashed her at the pool. SMH… WCN reports: A North Carolina woman was arrested on a charge of child abuse after police say she poured vodka on the eyes and head of a 7-year-old boy who had splashed water on her at a hotel pool. Clearwater police say Roseanna Marie Kiser, 23, was intoxicated and was drinking from a bottle of vodka in the pool area at the Sheraton Sand Key Hotel at 1160 Gulf Blvd. in Clearwater Beach. Several young children were swimming and playing in the pool. Kiser became angry at a 7-year-old boy because he splashed water near her. She opened her bottle of vodka and poured some of it onto the boy’s eyes and face. She then grabbed the boy around the chest and pushed him further away from her into the pool, according to an arrest affidavit. Kiser kicked a police officer in the groin with her heel when he was arresting her, according to the affidavit. Kiser was charged with child abuse and battery on a law enforcement officer. She lives in Huntersville, North Carolina. Was it really that serious??? SMH…
