Source: Lil Nas X / Columbia Records Lil Nas X’ s rise to fame has already come with some controversy. He discussed his unlikely overnight success in a new feature. Imagine randomly dabbling with country music and your song actually making some noise? So much so that it lands on the country music chart but is promptly removed. That is the story of Lil Nas X. Time Magazine interviewed the Atlanta native about his recent come up and the bumps and bruises along the way. In the feature, the 19-year-old detailed dropping out of college to pursue music much to his parent’s chagrin. “My dad initially was like, ‘There’s a million rappers in this industry’. They wanted me to go back to school.” But it seems he has already proven his father wrong. His single “Old Town Road” has already slotted on the Billboard Hot 100. The song’s southern twang appeal became a viral sensation with the likes of Justin Bieber showing him love. It also afforded him some relevancy within the country market as well landing him on the Hot Country Songs chart but that didn’t last too long. Billboard officially pulled him from the list citing his inclusion was a mistake. Naturally, the pulling of the track looked like an obvious jig. X discussed the snub with the iconic periodical. When asked to describe “Old Town Road” he made it clear the work can thrive in several genres. “The song is country trap. It’s not one, it’s not the other. It’s both. It should be on both” he explained. While the masses think Billboard’s move was racially biased, he attributes the slight as another example of the hesitancy of embracing something new. “I believe whenever you’re trying something new, it’s always going to get some kind of bad reception. For example, when rap started, or when rock and roll began. But with country trap, I in no way want to take credit for that. Source: MARK RALSTON / Getty Los Angeles police informed the Los Angeles Times on Monday that they were making progress in the search for the gunman who shot and killed Nipsey Hussle on Sunday afternoon. The Victory Lap rapper was gunned down in front of a shopping mall that he owned and prominently featured his The Marathon clothing store. Law enforcement sources told the Times they believed the killer was someone that Hussle knew. Detectives also believe that although the gunman has gang ties, his motives were more likely personal in nature rather than a gang feud. The coroner officer’s said Monday that the 33-year-old succumbed to a gunshot wounds to the head and torso. He was shot six times in total, five bullets hitting him in his chest. The individual who shot Hussle did so at close range before leaving in a getaway car. On Monday, multiple worlds from hip-hop to tech to most, if not all of Los Angeles stopped in paying their respects to the fallen rapper, entrepreneur, father, brother and businessman. “Driving down Slauson four in the morning, I can’t sleep,” The Game posted on Instagram. “S**t crazy, I’m disgusted by this s***.” Tributes were posted by the Los Angeles Metro, various school districts across the country, the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers. The Jussie Smollett case continues to get crazier and crazier, weirder and weirder. By the minute, it often seems. In the latest hilarious/disturbing/eye-roll-inducing development resulting from this saga, Smollett’s attorney, Tina Glandian, sat across from Savannah Gurthrie on The Today Show Thursday morning. The lawyer did her best to address several inconsistencies with her client’s story, such as the fact that he has claimed from the outset that two white men attacked him early on the morning of January 29. And yet… two African-Americans are the only suspects . They’re Nigerian brothers named Abel and Ola Osundairo and they have multiple connections to Smollett: They worked as extras on Empire. They personally trained Smollett. There are also text messages sent between Smollett and Abel on record, as well as phone calls the day of the supposed attack; a check made out to Abel in the amount of $3,500; and surveillance footage of the brothers purchasing rope and other supplies at a store on the day of the supposed attack. Here’s a photo of the muscular men: So… how does Glandian explain this away? How could Smollett have said two white men beat him up, when it appears to have been two black men he actually knows? “He only saw one of the attackers,” the attorney told Guthrie, adding: “One of them he didn’t see. He saw one through a ski mask. Again, he could not see their body. Everything was covered, and he had a full ski mask on except the area around the eyes.” She continued of what Smollett told the cops: “He did tell police that he… from what we saw, he thought it was pale skin or white or pale skin, was I think what he said. And that was what he… and that’s why he initially did have a hard time.” Abel and Ola have not said anything since the charges against Smollett were dropped . Their lawyer allegedly resigned after they refused to come forward and confirm that Smollett hired them to stage the attack. On Today, meanwhile, Glandian offered up another incredible defense for why her client told police he was assaulted by Caucasians. “Well, you know, I mean, I think there’s – obviously, you can disguise that,” she said of the brothers’ race. “You can put makeup on.” Shen then pointed to a YouTube video from 2016 in which Abel Osundairo puts on white makeup to perform the Joker monologue. Here is a still image of the suspect in whiteface from that footage: “I think police had minimal investigation in this case, it took me only five minutes to Google,” said the attorney. “You know, I was looking up the brothers, and one of the videos that showed up actually was of the brothers in whiteface doing a joker monologue with white makeup on him. “So, it’s not – it’s not implausible.” Okay. We guess. From there, Guthrie asked why Smollett did not recognize the Osundairos’ voices after allegedly having hung up the phone with them just moments earlier, based on official record, to which Glandian replied: “I mean, this was a very brief interaction. “Before you can even process what they look like, you’ve been punched in the face. And now next thing you’re on the floor and you’re being kicked… “And so, this isn’t somebody who’s digesting what’s happening. I mean, there’s excitement and fear and all of these things happening.” Glandian went on to say that Smollett has no interest in pressing charges against these suspects — which sounds downright insane and bizarre. He’s claiming they beat him up, tied a rope around his neck, yelled racial and anti-gay slurs at him and poured bleach all over him? And he’s looking to clear his name? And yet he doesn’t want to press charges?!?!?!? That is questionable AF. Smollett’s lawyer also says Jussie is more upset about the reaction to his charges being dropped than about this supposedly heinous assault. Smollett is especially hurt by the way the Mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel, and the Chicago Police Department slammed and trashed him as guilty… even after the state’s attorney office let him walk free. Emanuel referred to this decision as a ” whitewash of justice ,” adding of Smollett: You have a person using hate crime laws that are on the books to protect people who are minorities from violence to then turn around and use those laws to advance your career and your financial reward. Is there no decency in this man? “It is the Mayor and the Police Chief who owe Jussie – owe him an apology – for dragging an innocent man’s character through the mud. Sometimes, they can monetize that art, sometimes they can make that art into a business, which I guess would take away from the artistic merit of the whole thing, but for the most part it’s just an excuse….an excuse for a rich kid to not get an actual job, or an actual education…a “I went to art schooL”…so they can be stoned all day and make silly, superficial, nonsense pieces that are either sculpture, collage, paintings….that aren’t innovative, interesting, but most importantly…that don’t require talent…it’s just bullshit…. Art, for the sake of this site is a great thing, because it gives girls this excuse or confidence to get naked in photos…thinking there is something cerebral or high brow about their shit….when really…it’s just superficial clickbait that means nothing…does nothing…but nudity is a grea self promotional tool….and that’s what is about… Call it what you want, I’m too busy looking at your pubic hair to care. Email Submit Teachers that want to carry arms will have to undergo drug testing as well as psychological testing. They will also have to have 144 hours of firearms training and have a valid concealed weapon permit. The House Education Committee, which is led by Republicans, passed this school safety bill with a 11-5 vote. The bill is tied to the “Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act” which says “each sheriff may establish a Coach Aaron Feis Guardian Program and appoint certain volunteer school employees as school guardians.” As of January 2019, there are 726 armed volunteer guardians in 25 Florida counties. The act was passed last year after a mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in the Parkland city of Florida left 17 people dead. “The more people that are there to defend students, to defend other teachers, the better,” Republican Rep. Jennifer Sullivan of Eustis said. “If a teacher does not want to go through the program, I don’t want them to go through the program.” The passing of this bill is opposed by teachers unions as well as Democratic representatives who don’t believe teachers should double as law enforcement. “Teachers want to teach children and broaden children’s minds,” Democratic Rep. Susan Valdes of Tampa told the Sun Sentinel. “If they wanted to be a cop, they would have gone to police academy and become a cop.” Republicans feel that with a bill like this in place, it will help prevent mass shootings at schools from happening. “If this bill was in place before Parkland, how many less lives would have been lost?” Republican Amber Mariano said in defense of the new legislation. This week, d!ckhead Daniel is back on Al Gore’s internet copping pleas and half-assedly “apologizing” for HOW he expressed his sunken beliefs, not for the content of what he believes. “I expressed my opinion in a very pretentious… I was talking down to you guys,” said Caesar. “I apologize for how I expressed my idea because that is where I went wrong. I believe in what I said. A real man can admit when he’s wrong. I can admit when I’m wrong.” He went on to say… “There was no one there to challenge my ideas. That’s also dangerous. That’s why it’s tyrannical.
