Source: Kevin Winter / Getty Rap’s Cinderella Cardi B beat out a tough Best Rap Album crowd to take home the gramophone on Sunday night and in the process, she made a little bit of history too. With her win, Cardi B is the first solo female rapper to ever take home the crown of Best Rap Album. The only other woman to have claimed to the award is Lauryn Hill who won as a member of The Fugees with The Score in 1997. The union of Hill and Cardi seems to be coming up plenty over the last year and a half. Like Hill, Cardi is the only other female rapper to have a solo No. 1 song on the Billboard chart as “Bodak Yellow” assumed the top spot in 2017 as “Doo Wop (That Thing)” did in 1998. The Grammys created the Best Rap Album category in 1995 with Naughty By Nature taking home the initial award. The category has been dominated by Eminem and Kanye West. Em has six wins in the category and four of Kanye’s first five albums, beginning with The College Dropout in 2005 have won the most Best Rap Album Grammys. Congrats to Cardi on the history-making win! H.E.R. , who took home the award for Best R&B Album performed “Hard Place” from her I Used to Know Her: Part 2 EP. Janelle Monáe took the stage in many colors for “Make Me Feel” from her 2018 Dirty Computer which was up for Album of the Year. Chloe and Halle , the duo that appear on both Grownish but also were up for Best New Artist crushed their cover of Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack ‘s “Where Is The Love”. Look, Adam Lind is just not a good person. Not even a little bit. He’s been in the public eye for nearly a decade now, and in all that time, has he shown even one redeeming quality? Not so much. Quite the opposite, really. All the way back in the day, when Aubree was a tiny little baby, Adam wasn’t very nice to Chelsea or Aubree , although to his credit, he did see the kid every once in a while. In the middle of a fight, we saw him text Chelsea Houska to call her a “fat stretch mark bitch” and to “tell me where and when to sign the rights over for that mistake.” Terrible, right? It gets worse! As time went on, he treated Chelsea worse and worse, and he honestly never seemed all that interested in being a good father for Aubree. Or even a present father, honestly. When he and Chelsea broke up, he mostly saw Aubree when she went to visit his parents, but for a while she went over to his own house, too. But then he started doing meth. And it goes without saying that things went downhill fast after that. We’re not sure exactly when his addiction began, but he failed a court-ordered drug test all the way back in 2017. We heard that things were so bad that even though he owned his home, he failed to pay his bills, so he just sat in the house without electricity, doing drugs. In addition to the meth, which we can all surely agree is enough badness all on its own, he’s repeatedly fallen behind on his child support payments . And then came the domestic violence arrests. His exes have said that he’s broken bones, pushed and shoved them, and poor Taylor Halbur said that once he killed some puppies her dog had . Like, he gave up custody of the daughter he shares with Taylor. He is not a good person. As for Aubree, at this point in time they’re going through a visitation center to spend time together. But as we’ve seen on this season of Teen Mom 2, he’s been missing those visits. Thank goodness for Cole DeBoer, right?! Chelsea and Cole have been together for several years now, and after they got married in the fall of 2016, he officially became Aubree’s stepfather. You probably know this, but boy, has that man stepped up for that little girl. One example of how he’s stepped up is Aubree’s annual Father-Daughter dance ! A few years ago, Aubree invited Adam to the dance, and he said he’d take her, but never showed up. As he told her later, he had a weight-lifting competition to go to instead. So Cole dressed up and took her, and they had a great time together. Now we’re pretty sure Adam isn’t even invited. We’ve talked about Cole and Aubree’s annual dance date before, but it’s that time again! Yep, last night was the big dance, and Cole took to Instagram to document the occasion. “Father Daughter Dance success!!!!” he captioned these photos. “I am very proud of who this sweet girl is becoming the older she gets!” “I swear she is already an adult,” he said. “In the truck on the way to the dance I told her, ‘you know that I love you and that I will always protect you and always be here for you whenever you need me!'” In response, “She said, trust me I know that.” He then put a whole bunch of heart emojis, heart eyes emojis, and crying emojis, because he is adorable. This is just the absolute sweetest, right? Literally everyone who commented on Cole’s post agreed. “You’re an amazing man,” one of his followers told him. “So happy Aubree has you in her life.” Another wrote “You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to her! Keep it up!” One person summed it all up pretty well with “I’m crying and I don’t even know y’all. How sweet.” And then, as always, the adoption talk began. “Adopt her already!!!!!” an excited fan pleaded. “You two deserve each other.” Another comment read “She’s so blessed to have you!!! I wish you could officially adopt her!!!” There were tons and tons of comments like these, about how Adam should hand over his rights to Cole so he could officially become her father. Really, that’s a definite possibility — that’s what Adam did with his other daughter . It would be no surprise at all if Adam signed away his parental rights so Cole could adopt Aubree. And wouldn’t that be so exciting if it happened?! View Slideshow: Adam Lind: Did He Sign Over His Parental Rights for Aubree?
The 2019 Grammy Awards aired live from Los Angeles on Sunday night. It’s official, folks: Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston have finally reunited. We mean this literally, although now nearly every citizen out there is wondering: Might we soon mean this romantically? Granted, this question has been posed over and over and then over again over the years. We’re not just conjuring it up out of nowhere this time, however. Pitt was spotted on Saturday night outside the Sunset Tower in Los Angeles… where his famous ex-wife was being feted at the time for her 50th birthday. Us Weekly and TMZ have both confirmed this surprising piece of news, with the latter writing that Pitt tried to avoid the paparazzi upon arriving for the party. Others on hand for the milestone occasion included: Robert Downey, Jr., Reese Witherspoon, Rande Gerber, Pharrell Williams, Keith Richards, Gwyneth Paltrow, Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, George and Amal Clooney, David Arquette, Courtney Cox and Barbra Streisand. But let’s face it: Celebrity gossip followers only care that Pitt somehow snagged an invite. This begs many questions, of course: Who extended the invite? For how long have Pitt and Aniston been back in touch? Just how close are they these days? And, naturally, might they someday get back together? This last question was nothing but wild speculation just a few years ago, but a lot has changed since then. Pitt is now divorced from Angelina Jolie, for whom Pitt left Aniston in 2005 after five years of marriage. Moreover, Aniston is now divorced from Justin Theroux after just two years of wedded semi-bliss. As you can see by the cover stories above and below, tabloids have jumped on this topic over the past several months, wondering whether Aniston and Pitt – both now single – could actually start bumping uglies once again. That’s a slang term for having sex. Upon her split from Theroux, reports circulated that Theroux actually found love notes that Aniston had saved from her time with Pitt. “He stumbled upon old Post-it notes Brad had written,” a source told Us Weekly last year. “Sweet little Post-its like, ‘You looked nice tonight’ or ‘Miss you already.” Wow, right?!? Pitt and Jolie, meanwhile, recently agreed upon terms for their divorce settlement, following many months of arguing over major custody issues involving their six kids. Aniston and Theroux never had any children and, by all accounts, broke up pretty easily and amicably. Aniston told Elle in an interview in December that she considered her two marriages to have “been very successful,” despite both ending in divorce. “When they came to an end, it was a choice that was made because we chose to be happy, and sometimes happiness didn’t exist within that arrangement anymore,” she explained. That’s a very mature attitude, don’t you think? We commend Aniston for having it and we admire her as a person, but we also have one request: PLEASE GET BACK TOGETHER WITH PITT! We could really use the content. View Slideshow: 13 Reasons to Be Glad You Never Slept With Brad Pitt
N early 12 years ago Camden, New Jersey native Carmen Day sat in a courtroom before New Jersey Superior Court Judge Charles Dortch awaiting her sentence for a minor offense that she committed. Day—who was 17-years-old at the time—pled with Judge Dortch to have her sentence reduced and promised to become a lawyer in the future. According to Black News , she kept her word and is close to bringing her promise to fruition. This Black judge gave a teenager a second chance 12 years ago, and now she's about to graduate from law school! #blackexcellence #blackgirlmagic #blackgirlsrock https://t.co/ieIyl7rtRD — Black News (@BlackNews) February 5, 2019 Prior to her brush with the law, Day aspired to go to college and law school, the news outlet writes. After she was granted a shorter probation sentence by Judge Dortch, Day got on the right track and is now finishing up her last semester at Rutgers Law School. She says she wouldn’t have been able to get to this point if it weren’t for Dortch giving her a chance to right her wrongs. “He didn’t see me as a docket number, or some poor girl from Camden,” said Day in a statement. “He saw me as a girl who needed help, who needed a chance.” Day—now a married mother of two—hopes that her journey will inspire other individuals who have been in similar situations. “You are not what happened to you. You are what you choose to become,” she said. Dortch and Day were reunited when she and other law school students visited the courthouse where he worked. “She really stuck out in my mind,” Dortch told NJ.com . “I saw a lot of perseverance in her face.” He also added that seeing her rise up, overcome her situation, and turn her life around for the better made his career. Ariana Grande is not singing a very happy tune right now. One might say, in fact, that she’s hit upon a very sour note. And this is why… Earlier this week, Grande announced that she would not be performing at Sunday’s Grammy Awards, allegedly because producers told her to avoid including the track “7 Rings” in her medly, following claims of lyric-stealing against the artist. Of course, this is not what producer Ken Ehrlich told the Associated Press. He told the outlet that, after a month of negotiating, Ariana “felt it was too late for her to pull something together” for the show, which is will air live from Los Angeles. Grande, however, is now calling complete BS on this statement. mhmmm here it is ! “too late for her to pull something together……” Grande wrote as a caption to a screen shot of Ehrlich’s interview, clearly questioning the producer’s assertion. She then went after the executive in a far more personal and pointed manner. “i’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me,” Grande Tweeted, adding: “i can pull together a performance over night and you know that, Ken. it was when my creativity & self expression was stifled by you, that i decided not to attend. “i hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more,” she continued. On an angry roll, Grande continued as follows: “i offered 3 different songs. it’s about collaboration. it’s about feeling supported. it’s about art and honesty. “not politics. not doing favors or playing games. it’s just a game y’all.. and i’m sorry but that’s not what music is to me.” This is all a bit unusual and awkward because, in the weeks leading up to the Grammys, the Recording Academy had been using Grande’s image to promote the show. Heck, the pop star said she “passed a Grammy’s bus with my face on it typing those” new tweets. She’s also nominated for best pop vocal album for her acclaimed LP Sweetener, as well as best pop solo performance for “God Is a Woman.” Like we said: Awkward! Grande did conclude her response by showing appreciation for the ceremony and for these nominations. “hope that helps everyone understand my decision,” she wrote. “i am still grateful for the acknowledgment this year,” she added, prior to sharing a teaser promoting her new album, which drops at midnight. The Recording Academy has not yet commented on Ariana’s remarks.
Source: Bennett Raglin/BET / Getty Despite the fact that Jussie Smollett squashed the rumors that he made up his attack, folks like Joe Budden seem to remain skeptical. The rapper and reality star shared his thoughts about the “Empire” actors alleged hate crime on a recent episode of his podcast “ State Of The Culture.” He opened with going over the news about his attack. “[He] was allegedly brutally attacked recently in Chicago by ‘MAGA terrorists.’ They broke his ribs, they put a noose about his neck, they poured bleach on him and called him derogatory names. The FBI is on the case now but it has confirmed that a letter was previously sent to a FOX studio that contained threatening language and a powdery substance said to be Tylenol.” According to Hip New Hop News , while his co-hosts attempted to make the point that since President Trump has been elected that has been an uptick in hate and bias crimes committed over the years. “Why can’t we trust that there is black pain, that that has happened?” – @ScottieBeam responds to @JoeBudden ’s speculations of what happened to Jussie Smollett. #SOTC pic.twitter.com/93bOXSjwy1 — StateofTheCulture (@StateofCulture) February 6, 2019 Yet, Budden, who has been accused of domestic violence himself, refuses to believe Jussie’s version because he cannot fathom the idea that any Black man could wear a noose on his neck for 45 minutes after being attacked. The 38-year-old also made fun of the threatening letter allegedly sent to FOX saying it looked “like some bulls**t I saw in Austin Powers.” While Budden says that he believes that Jussie was attacked, he isn’t sold on the idea that it was a hate crime. “Famous rich people, when bad things happen and they want to cover the story because famous people to fuck shit sometimes like humans,” Joe stressed. “You cover the story to protect your image, your likeness and your career.” He concluded that Jussie may be preying on the emotions of the community to garner support and sympathy. “I’m waiting for footage. Just show me footage and I’ll shut the fuck up,” he said. Not surprisingly, some of Budden’s fans agreed with him, believing that Jussie’s story isn’t adding up: Man Joe Budden bust this Jussie Smollett story wise open. @theeonlyme and I been saying that something was off about it — ShaQuann (@MissShaLeJoan) February 2, 2019 Im glad that I’m not the only one who thinks Jussie is lying @JoeBudden pic.twitter.com/3vDTCdXbzp — sammiesopinion (@sammiesopinion) February 2, 2019 i cant wait til the truths comes out and the whole world has to say @JoeBudden was right about this nigga #Jussie Story and he just got beat up over Dick. ctfu — chucktheworld_ (@ChuckTheWorld_) February 6, 2019 However, there were also people who disagreed with Budden, asking their own questions about why folks are so quick to invalidate the pain Black LGBTQ folks face: Soooo #JoeBudden doesn’t believe Jussie was attacked.. Why LGBT Black men pain and experiences can never be acknowledged and validated. Is it not that valuable to us? God for bid this was Andy Cohen or Anderson Cooper no one would even question the story. — Petty J. Blige (@FxckgirlBri) February 5, 2019 There’s no reason for Jussie to lie. pic.twitter.com/zzi1coKT6H — Auntie Fan4ever (@1Truvet) February 5, 2019 Joe Budden needs to be cancelled for being out here questioning the authenticity of Jussie Smollett’s attack….. #alwaysurown pic.twitter.com/LpY0yj85tX — itstheCoConutWater (@DivaHoneyPri) February 6, 2019 Wow! Just wow! What is sad is that now in this day and age you need some mf receipts to prove you was attacked. Back then ya word was good enough and the family would be ready to go whoop whoever ass. Now we have show footage that he was beat to believe him? TF! #TheAudacity — TheChattyBlogger (@DaChattyBlogger) February 6, 2019 Budden isn’t the only Black celeb to publicly question the validity of Jussie’s attack. Recently, Azealia Banks posted on social media that this is nothing but “propaganda.” “Sorry…this is all promotion for the next season of empire/propaganda to make sure black for the DNC next go round,” she wrote in her IG Stories. “Loads of black people didn’t vote at all in the 2016 election which worked in Trump’s favor.” Girl, huh. Meanwhile, the Chicago Police Department are still looking for the two men involved in the attack. Source: Patricia Schlein/WENN.com / WENN Dwayne Johnson Was Supposed To Host The Oscars This Year Oscar-Gate 2k18 was just as exhausting for all of us as it was for Kevin Hart, but now, it looks like there’s even more information we need to make the story complete. It looks like the first choice for this year’s Oscar’s ceremony was actually Dwayne Johnson , well, according to Dwayne Johnson. In response to someone bringing up his name as a “great host” for next year’s ceremony, The Rock revealed that that exact plan was actually in the works for this year, but prior commitments ended up getting in the way; Turns out, the actor couldn’t take the gig because he would be too busy working on the sequel to Jumanji . “I was their first choice to host this year, and my goal was to make it the most fun and entertaining Oscars ever,” Johnson revealed. “We all tried hard, but couldn’t make it work since I’m shooting Jumanji . Academy and I were super bummed but maybe one day down the road.” Ah mahalo dude, I was their first choice to host this year, and my goal was to make it the most fun and entertaining Oscars ever. We all tried hard, but couldn’t make it work since I’m shooting Jumanji. Academy and I were super bummed but maybe one day down the road https://t.co/eiiMuBNOzb — Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) February 6, 2019 It’s pretty interesting that The Rock has to drop out of hosting duties due to Jumanji commitments, especially because Kevin Hart stars in the film with him. Though we all know how Kevin’s relationship with The Oscars ended up–how was he to fit in those same hosting duties while also filming for the Jumanji sequel? Questions that need answers… With both Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart out of the running for host, The 91st Academy Awards will be hostless and is set to take place on Sunday, Feb 24 at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
