Michelle Carter: Headed to Prison For Convincing Boyfriend to Commit Suicide!

In 2017, a teen girl was accused of pressuring her boyfriend to commit suicide … and he went through with it. She stood trial for his death in the controversial case, and was sentenced to prison. Now, Michelle Carter is finally heading to prison. On Monday, a Massachusetts judge ordered Michelle Carter to report to prison. She is to begin serving out her sentence, which was handed down to her about a year and a half ago. Bristol County Juvenile Court Judge Lawrence Moniz sentenced Michelle Carter to a minimum of 15 months in prison. She was, however, permitted to remain free while she appealed her conviction. But now the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court has upheld that conviction. The finding of the court was that the evidence in the case demonstrated that she was culpable for the death of Conrad Roy III. Michelle was 17 when her then-boyfriend, Conrad, took his own life in 2014. The case was framed around a series of text messages that she had sent to him. Prosecutors argued that her text messages were clearly encouraging him to commit suicide. At times, it even seemed that Michelle was more enthusiastic about his suicide than he was, pushing him to work past his reluctance. Clearly, the jury and now a series of judges have all agreed. Conrad died from inhaling carbon monoxide fumes from his truck. Michelle was then accused of having listened over the phone as he died, and of then not notifying his parents or police. The issue, however, was whether or not she pushed a vulnerable man who was already battling with suicidal ideation to take his own life. (At times, she even chastised him over his apparent indecision, and downplayed how sad others would be with him gone) Michelle’s attorneys argued that, as vile as her words to him were, they constitute protected speech under the First Amendment. Attorney Daniel Marx lamented the court’s ruling. “Today’s decision stretches the law to assign blame for a tragedy that was not a crime,” Marx says. “It has very troubling implications, for free speech, due process, and the exercise of prosecutorial discretion, that should concern us all,” he states. Of course, the Supreme Court has long upheld that there are certain, reasonable restrictions to Free Speech. Conspiracy to commit a crime is not protected speech. Inciting a person or group to commit an act of violence is not protected speech. While people can make their (logically flawed) slippery slope arguments, a teenage boy lost his life. And, given that he was already experiencing suicidal ideation, he was particularly vulnerable to this exact type of influence. Some people may view suicide as a personal choice, rather than as a terminal symptom of mental illness. Suicide is not the same thing as medically assisted euthanasia for people who are already dying. Those of us who are not at risk for suicide can view “kill yourself” messages as, at worst, hurtful, no matter their origins. That was not the case for Conrad Roy III. One could liken verbal pushes to commit suicide from someone so close to him to exposing peanuts to someone with a peanut allergy. Just because the rest of us would go unaffected doesn’t make it any less deadly for the victim. Clearly, that was also what the court decided. View Slideshow: 21 Stars Who Very Likely Killed Someone

Justin Bieber is Seeking Treatment for Depression

We’re learning more about Justin Bieber than ever before these days. First, the singer sat down with Vogue and confessed that sex had become such a “vice” for him that he went celibate for awhile prior to rekindling his romance with Hailey Baldwin. Then, we learned how Bieber proposed . Now, multiple sources have told People Magazine that Bieber is seeking professional assistance for ongoing mental health issues. “Justin seems down and tired. He has been struggling a bit,” says one Bieber insider, who is quick to emphasize that these issues are unrelated to Baldwin or their relationship. If anything, being with Baldwin, who Bieber refers to as a much-needed “security blanket” in his Vogue interview, has served to help calm Justin down and ease his psychological burden. “It has nothing to do with Hailey – he is very happy being married to her. It’s just something else that he struggles with mentally,” this source continues. “He has good help around him and is receiving some treatment. He seems confident he will feel better soon.” A second informant confirms to People that Bieber is receiving counseling of some kind, but the exact type is unknown at this time. He has not checked into a rehab facility, so it must be some kind of outpatient arrangement. The singer is “emotional and struggles a lot with the idea of fame,” says yet another insider, expounding as follows: “He started off as a typical sweet, Canadian teen. He was such a great kid, honestly super sweet and very polite and nice to everyone around him. “Having this huge amount of fame completely changed him. “He had access to anything and everything and was surrounded by people who just said Yes .” This does actually track for anyone who has followed Bieber’s career. He went from being carefree and kind and seemingly all about his fans… … to telling those same fans they made him sick . In short, Bieber became a giant spoiled brat for two or three years. And while he still makes very dumb comments about Chris Brown and other things on occasion, it does seem apparent that Bieber has used his recent time away from the spotlight to focus on what matters. Religion and the people closest to him, basically. Baldwin, of course, sits atop this list. In their joint cover story for Vogue, Justin confesses to letting his success get to his head at times. “I started really feeling myself too much. ‘People love me, I’m the sh-t,’ that’s honestly what I thought,” he tells the magazine, admitting: “I got very arrogant and cocky. I was wearing sunglasses inside. At night inside.” Yeah. That is always a very lame move. “I found myself doing things that I was so ashamed of, being super-promiscuous and stuff, and I think I used Xanax because I was so ashamed,” Bieber even added. It may have seemed selfish at the time, but it looks to have been for the best. “I got really depressed on tour,” he says. “I haven’t talked about this, and I’m still processing so much stuff that I haven’t talked about. I was lonely. I needed some time.” In conclusion, People writes that this isn’t the first time Bieber has sought help. “He is very much grateful for his amazing life and especially for Hailey,” the publication previously wrote. “It’s difficult for him that he can’t just enjoy everything and feel happy. He has been in treatment for this before.” We wish him the best.

F**k 12: 10 More Men Released In “Mass Exoneration” Over Crooked Chicago Cop’s Corrupt Captures In Cook County

Source: Chicago Tribune / Getty 10 More Released In “Mass Exoneration” Due To Crooked Chicago Cop Former Chicago police officer Sgt. Ronald Watts was such a dirty piece of s#!t that a Cook County judge along with State’s Attorney Kim Foxx have freed yet another 10 men from imprisonment behind false arrests. According to the Chicago-Sun Times , those 10 newly released men bring the total number of freed inmates to 63…SIXTY-THREE! Says Sean Starr of the Exoneration Project at the University of Chicago Law School: “When the system fails one of us, it fails every single one of us,” Starr said at a news conference after a brief court hearing before Chief Criminal Court Judge LeRoy K. Martin Jr. “Their stories are just the latest examples of a calculated, feigned ignorance on behalf of the Chicago Police Department of the victimization of black and brown, lower-income communities in Chicago. As citizens of the city, we need to demand more, we need to demand accountability.” In 2012 Watts and partner Kallatt Mohammed were caught and charged with stealing $5,000 from a federal informant who was recording the entire shakedown. That sting was set up because Watts and co. had been accused of targeting minorities living in the Ida B. Well housing projects for fugazi drugs busts and bogus arrests. How did these phony-a$$ arrests affect the people who were imprisoned and their loved ones, you ask? Well, allow us to tell you: Derrick Lewis, who twice was sent to prison after Watts’ officers planted drugs on him, spent a total of more than seven years in prison. The convictions made his then-fiancée question his character, and she left him for another man while he was locked up. Though both his arrests took place more than a decade ago, Lewis said he still suffers because of his time behind bars. “We lost things that you can never get back,” said Lewis, who protested that he was innocent from the moment he was arrested. “We have a right to feel how we feel, now that it’s coming out that we were actually telling the truth.” It’s an evil world we live in. SMFH.

Carmen Argenziano Dies; Stargate SG-1 Actor was 75

Carmen Argenziano is a versatile, legendary actor with hundreds of acting roles under his belt. He is best known for his roles on Stargate SG-1 and in The Godfather Part II . On Sunday, Carmen passed away. He was 75 years old. Even Horizon Talent released the sad news about Carmen Argenziano with a deeply personal statement. “It is with a heavy heart and more sadness than anyone can realize right now,” the statement begins. The statement continues: “that I announce the passing of client Carmen Argenziano at the age of 75.” “His acting career began in the early 1970s and included a turn in The Godfather, Part II,” the announcement acknowledges. “Carmen worked steadily over more than 40 years,” the statement notes. “And was a staple character actor on our televisions throughout that time.” The announcement continues: “including on series such as ‘Cheers,’ ‘Melrose Place,’ ‘ER,’ ‘CSI:NY’ and many others.” Carmen did this “while also lending his talents to films both tentpole [expensive major motion picture] and intimate.” “To genre fans,” the statement continues. “He is best known for his role as Jacob Carter/Selmak on the series ‘Stargate SG-1.'” Genre is sometimes used as a euphemism for interesting media such as science fiction and fantasy. It was “a role he relished and recurred in for seven years.” “While Carmen was a client,” the announcement notes. “He was also a good friend.” “While he was a class act and a consummate gentleman at the events he was booked for,” the statement says. “He was also a caring and generous person.” “While I had known him for more than a decade,” the statement reads. It continues: “It wasn’t until the past three years as a representative for him that our trust and friendship grew and blossomed.” “He truly treated me like family,” the announcement affirms. “And that sentiment was returned.” “Please join me in sending thoughts and prayers to Carmen’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the statement asks. This heartbreaking announcement confirms: “Godspeed, my friend.” Carmen Argenziano had 227 IMDB credits under his belt. As the statement mentions, Carmen is best known for the twin roles of Jacob Carter and Selmak on Stargate SG-1 , which he played from 1998 to 2005. Portraying two characters sharing a body isn’t easy, but Carmen made the role very natural. He was introduced in Season 2 of the series and remained a returning character. Because Jacob Carter was the father of main character Samantha Carter (played by Amanda Tapping), Carmen appeared in 25 episodes. (That’s more than a season’s worth, and means that he appeared in nearly one out of every eight episodes of the long-running series) Ultimately, his character died in a moving episode, “Threads,” during the show’s eighth season. One often overlooked role of Carmen’s was his appearance on “Knives,” a pivotal episode of the science fiction classic  Babylon 5 . He has also appeared on murdery mysteries and in films, including Angels and Demons . More than once, he was cast to portray a priest, a role that he portrayed with dignity and nuance. Actors and fans alike are still reeling from this news. (Just last Friday, I was watching some of his work and wondering what he’s been up to lately) Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this time.
