Friends of the former Disney actor staged an intervention prompting Brown to enter a rehab facility. TMZ reports : We’re told, Orlando’s friend Danny Boy — the owner of a Vegas restaurant that the “That’s So Raven” star broke into last month — contacted Wendy Wheaton and Tommy Red, Hollywood producers with contacts in the rehab world. The plan was to get Orlando some help back in August, but he threw a wrench in that plan when he got arrested in early September after breaking into Danny’s joint. Orlando got out but went MIA for a few weeks. Fast forward to last Sunday … when Orlando made his way to a San Fernando Valley hotel where cops were called after he went off the rails. He was so bad off, his friends had to wait a few days for the intervention. Orlando’s now in a treatment facility for mental health and substance abuse issues. E arlier this year it was announced that Henrietta Lacks —a Black woman whose cells were used without her consent to further medical research —would have her painting added to the National Portrait Gallery at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C. Now, Lacks will be honored in another special way. Johns Hopkins University recently shared that it would name one of their campus buildings after Lacks, the Baltimore Sun reported. Johns Hopkins University will name a new interdisciplinary building after Henrietta Lacks, a Baltimore woman whose cells were the basis of research for numerous modern medical breakthroughs. https://t.co/bEqVbpqVdK — The Baltimore Sun (@baltimoresun) October 8, 2018 The Baltimore-based school revealed the news at the Henrietta Lacks Memorial Lecture that’s hosted each year, the news outlet writes. The structure—which will stand on the university’s East Baltimore campus—is slated to open its doors in 2022. “[The building] will be a place that stands as an enduring and powerful testament to a woman who not only was the beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother to generations of the Lacks family, but the genesis of generations of miraculous discoveries that have changed the landscape of modern medicine and that have benefited in truth the much larger family of humanity entirely,” said the university’s president Ronald Daniels . Lacks has complex ties to the university. According to the news outlet, her cells were taken from her without her knowledge while she underwent a medical procedure in the 1950s at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Her cells, dubbed “HeLa” cells, were able to live outside of her body and furthered research related to in vitro fertilization and cancer treatments. She ended up passing away due to cervical cancer. Her loved ones are honored that the school decided to name a building after her. “It is a proud day for the Lacks family. Kim Kardashian has hit many home runs in her life… … off the field, we mean. As in: she's slept with her fair share of men. A pregnant Khloe stands on the sideline and offers her loved ones advice. But it falls on deaf and untalented ears. “Is this the mound?” a confused Kim asks her sister. “No, the mound is there,” Khloe responds. “That would be the pitcher's mound.” (Editor's Note: This is patently absurd. We don't care how little baseball you watch; you know from where a pitcher pitches.) “The first softball practice is terrifying,” Khloe later says in a confessional. “It's just chickens with their head cut off running around this field. It's not good.” After Kim finally gets a hold of a Kris offering and runs to first base, it's time for Jenner to grab a bat and for Kim to take the aforementioned mound. Upon attempting to hit her first pitch, however, Kris wobbles backward and falls to the ground. “Oh my god, are you okay?” Kim asks as she rushes to her mother's side. “Oh my god, did you hurt your wrist?” Yes, Kris claims. And it actually is possible. As scripted and as dumb as this entire scene is, we're not sure if Jenner is a decent enough of an actress to fake this fall. It looks pretty legit! Over the past several weeks, each time we’ve written about Kathryn Dennis, it’s been in relation to Thomas Ravenel. That’s what happens when you share two kids with the lead of a Bravo reality show… … and then that lead gets accused of sexual assault by two women . In this case, however, we’re here to talk about the Southern Charm star and a different man from her past. We don’t know his name. But we do know that this individual sadly has had a major impact on Dennis’ life. On Sunday evening, the 27-year old posted both the following image on Instagram and included with it a lengthy message about how she is a surivor of domestic abuse. Dennis proceeded to tell her story via this social media platform, prefacing the emotional post with a caption that reads: “This is my past, perfectly put…. worth the read. This is the real aftermath.” The reality star then went into painful detail as follows: I spend a lot of time thinking about those questions. I never saw myself in these situations and neither did anyone else. I had strong opinions, a sharp mind, and an independent spirit. But before I knew it, I was left with a broken spirit, mixed opinions, and an anxious and uncertain mind. I didn’t know who I was anymore. Dennis never names her abuser. She doesn’t get into specifics about the incident or incidents, either. Instead, she focuses more on the effects this experience has had on her life — and continues to have on her life. It was the deepest, darkest secret I kept. And this wasn’t about any particular situation/relationship as much as it was my relationship with men. It ran deep and dark, and I never realized the impact it had on myself and on my self-worth. In these depths of despair, I couldn’t see a way out of this cycle. It seemed anywhere I turned pushed me further and further away from getting to a safe place physically, mentally, and emotionally. I looked around and within and realized that my self-worth had been damaged long before I even realized it was possible. This made me really question myself. And this is how Dennis concludes: Was it me? Was this normal behavior, and I was the one in the wrong? I knew deep down inside that wasn’t the case, but I was stuck in quicksand being guided by those who kept my head above, but my feet locked in. Powerful stuff, no? Tragically, there are millions of women out there who can relate to most everything Dennis describes here. She went on to share a handful of memes, such as the ones below: Kathryn’s revelation about her past trauma with domestic violence comes just weeks after her ex-boyfriend, Ravenel, was arrested for second degree assault and battery . The ex-Bravo personality was taken into custody on charges related to sexual assault claims made by his former nanny, Dawn, who cared for his and Kathryn’s two kids, Kensington, 4, and Saint Julien, 2, years ago. Unbeknownst to many, the state of Georgia hit Quavo with a $14,000 tax lien. No worries, he paid it off—Takeoff still owes the same amount, though. Reports The Blast : According to official documents, the Georgia Department of Revenue filed a release of a tax lien against the rapper (real name: Quavious Marshall) that he was hit with in June. The lien accused Quavo of failing to pay up on a state tax bill totaling $14,055.06 he owed from 2016. The lien has been released and it is no longer enforceable, due to the debt being paid in full. His Migos bandmate, Takeoff, was also hit with a lien — the same day as Quavo — over a similar unpaid tax bill totaling $14,348.23. Takeoff’s lien is still enforceable, though. On the latest episode of The Joe Budden Podcast , Chance spoke about West and his recent behavior. He revealed to Budden and his co-hosts that he believes Kanye is just wearing a MAGA hat and saying ridiculous things for attention and that he thinks about how people will react to him after his actions. “I think Kanye has said it before, but I think he thinks like for every move, at least for the past few albums, he thinks about himself like 300 years in the future and how people will read things.” “I think he does a lot of stuff for the attention of the masses,” Chance continued, “to get that stuff documented and made into history. But I think also a lot of times, the attention that he may be seeking is at the immediate detriment of some people that may need that attention more.” Right? So, in essence, this all pre-calculated and not due to Kanye needing help? Chance’s reply about Kanye was very safe, also keep in mind the two artists are working on collaborative effort titled Good Ass Music that he revealed is nowhere near completion by the way. Kanye’s trolling of us has stopped since he deleted both his Instagram and Twitter accounts but since Chance seems to be the resident Kanye whisperer maybe he can really help save the rapper from the sunken place. Lil Wayne ‘s headlining closing set was abruptly ended after chatter of gunshots or a gunman spread around the packed festival grounds in Atlanta. Local outlet WXIA reports: According to reports, Lil Wayne was about 5 songs into his set when pandemonium broke out. The performance served as a kind of comeback for Lil Wayne – his first since the release of “Tha Carter Five” in September. The rapper tweeted his well-wishes to concertgoers. But one man said everything was going fine until Lil Wayne hit the stage. “You have five different nationally-ranked artists perform – no problems,” he said. “Soon as this artist, the top-biller, Lil Wayne got on the stage, three or 4 minutes it start busting.” The mention of gunshots sent many attendees scrambling and some were injured in the process. Hip-Hop Wired was on the grounds of the Georgia Freight Depot but vacated before the ensuing stampede took place. According to research we’ve done with our contacts on the ground, there were no gunshots heard but the false alarm was enough to set folks into a panic. She’s sorry, but the old Taylor Swift can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Because she’s busy knocking on doors and canvassing neighborhoods in Tennessee to make sure everyone is informed and registered to vote in the 2018 midterm elections. Indeed, the singer has broken from an often-criticized tradition and done more than merely dip a toe in political waters. She’s gone right ahead and jumped in with two feet. On Sunday evening, the beloved solo artist shared the photo above, along with a lengthy Instagram message that endorsed a pair of candidates in the November 6 election for various important offices. “In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now,” Swift said to open her statement. She continued: “I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country. “I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG. “I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent.” In the eyes of many critics, Swift had come under fire many times in the past for never using her famous platform for the greatest good. While fellow superstars such as Beyonce had not only backed certain candidates, but given speeches and performances on their behalf, Swift had remained out of the political arena entirely. Some were especially appalled by this decision in 2016 when there was such a clear choice between a candidate who supported women’s rights (Hillary Clinton) and, well… Donald Trump . “I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent,” Taylor added in this new message. “I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love.” Why is Swift speaking out now? Likely because Republican senators just confirmed Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court — despite one notable accusation of sexual assault against him, along with pretty clear temperment concerns. Perhaps with this in mind, Swift went on to specifically throw her support behind two candidates from her home state. “Running for Senate in the state of Tennessee is a woman named Marsha Blackburn. As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn. “Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me. “She voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape. She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry. “These are not MY Tennessee values.” In races that appear rather close and which could legitimately impact the country, Swift therefore announced the candidates who have her backing: “I will be voting for Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives. “Please, please educate yourself on the candidates running in your state and vote based on who most closely represents your values. For a lot of us, we may never find a candidate or party with whom we agree 100% on every issue, but we have to vote anyway.” As you might expect, taking a partisan side has elicited mixed reactions on Twitter. A handful of users are for the move: Others have scoffed at the move: (Editor’s Note: Since Kanye supposedly “ended” Swift by interrupting her speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, the two highest-grossing tours in the world belong to… Taylor Swift.) This, of course, is the danger of getting involved in politics: you may engender some serious opposition. But Swift must think it is worth the fight and the criticism in order to speak her mind and espouse her values. This is how Swift concluded her unexpected post: So many intelligent, thoughtful, self-possessed people have turned 18 in the past two years and now have the right and privilege to make their vote count.
