Steady Mobbin: Lauryn Hill Performs At Sundance Film Festival In Park City

Lauryn Hill performed in Utah at the Sundance Film Festival. While it’s great to see L-Boogie back on the scene, we hope she didn’t stink up the place with the same shenanigans she pulled in Atlanta . More images below:

Olsen Twin’s Sister Flashes Twins At Sundance as Cult Crazy

Elizabeth Olsen , the sister of never-nudes Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen , makes her nude debut as a brainwashed cultist (like one of the Manson Girls ) undergoing deprogramming in Martha Marcy May Marlene , which was snatched up by Fox Searchlight at the Sundance film festival. Finally, everyone who’s ever wanted to see a naked Olsen can get the chance to. “It was incredibly weird to watch it with other people watching it, especially during nude parts,” Olsen explained about seeing her bare body on screen during the film festival. But it’s all for the love of the craft that Elizabeth takes it off and gets down for some semi-graphic sex scenes. “My dad, when he found out there was nudity in the film, was like, are you sure this is a good idea? Me as a person, I don’t even wear things that show my midriff ever. I’m a very covered-up human being.” If one Olsen can change, then so can the twins. Look to Karissa Shannon . Relax, Elizabeth, it’s only a booby movie!

J.J. Abrams Plays My Favorite Scene: ‘It’s the Best Work Either of Them Ever Did’

Here’s a very special edition of Movieline’s game for cinephiles, “My Favorite Scene.” Usually we ask our subjects ( like Zach Gilford ) simply to name their favorite film scene of all-time, and a reason why. With Lost creator and illustrious film producer J.J. Abrams, though, we learned a bit more than usual. Join us as the Super 8 writer/director names his favorite scene, his favorite set, and the woman whose death almost inspired him to write a play about his childhood.

‘Why Were They There?’: Screenwriting Guru Robert McKee Takes on Right-Wing Attackers

Earlier this week, a contributor to the right-wing film and culture Web site Big Hollywood offered up the delightfully titled tale , “For $745 You Too Can Be Insulted By Famed Hollywood Screenwriting Teacher Robert McKee.” Author Ann McElhinney proceeded to recount her time in McKee’s celebrated (and, indeed, expensive) story seminar last October, time reportedly spent chafing under the instructor’s prodigious use of profanity, social criticism, “Bush bashing” and other liberal bloviation. A torrent of conservative bile followed in the site’s comments. Of course, anyone who’s seen Adaptation , featuring Brian Cox as the legendary — and legendarily irascible — writing mentor, could have warned McElhinney of at least some pedagogical turbulence ahead. So Movieline asked McKee on Wednesday: What, if anything, went wrong here?

The happythankyoumoreplease Trailer Leaves Us Hoping for More, Please

You should never really judge a film by its trailer, if only because, like books and their covers, the trailer only tells the part of the story marketing wants you to know. So, let’s all give the new trailer for Josh Radnor’s well-received 2010 Sundance Audience Award winner a pass…because, hoo boy , is this one horrible.

Richard Dreyfuss Heads to Weeds

If you were wondering which of the 5 Movieline-approved stars would be the first to pull ahead in the race to be the next Betty White, here’s your answer: Richard Dreyfuss. The veteran actor has signed on for four episodes of Weeds to play an “unexpected character” from Nancy Botwin’s (Mary Louise-Parker) past. So, her father. Also guest starring on the Showtime series this season: Mark Paul-Gosselaar, Alanis Morissette, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Peter Stormare and Linda Hamilton. Talk about a motley crew. Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List Reality Check: ‘Moving the Merch’

I should’ve known the one episode of My Life on the D-List that Kathy Griffin devoted to her mother would be the season’s dud. In fact, how could it have succeeded? Kathy has reduced Maggie Griffin to a single Franzia joke since day one, allowing her the character breadth of a puppet theater headmistress. She’s stern, muumuu’d, and wine-woozy. That’s it. Adding cameos from Suze Orman and Lauren Conrad wasn’t going to change that, Kathleen. Time to persevere and engage the task at hand: scavenging last night’s episode for its most “real” and “fake” moments. Hopefully, we discover some probing emotional truths in this one-joke medley.

Here’s the Movie that Beat Ridley Scott and Kevin Macdonald to Their ‘Historic’ User-Generated Doc

So everyone’s gotten over yesterday’s Inception hype and has apparently moved on to something smaller called Life in a Day — a collaboration between directors Ridley Scott and Kevin Macdonald that will comprise a bundle of user-generated clips shot and uploaded to YouTube on July 24. The finished product will premiere next January at the Sundance Film Festival. Today’s PR blitz calls Life the “first user-generated feature-length documentary film shot on a single day” and a “historic global film experiment.” Which wouldn’t be so off-base — if it were true.

Elin Nordegren Not Wearing Her Wedding RIng

For the second day in a row we spotted Tiger Woods’ wife Elin Nordegren out in the real world and not wearing her wedding ring. Today we caught her going to lunch with her two kids, daughter Sam Alexis , (in her arms) and son Charlie Axel (in the arms of a friend/nanny). We have yet to see Tiger, whose only communication with the media and the outside world has been via his website since Thanksgiving when he crashed his SUV and history of “transgressions” came to light.
