Source: Anthony Harvey / Getty Rihanna  may have delivered one hell of a halftime performance for Super Bowl XLIII in Atlanta next February but she reportedly declined the offer. Her reason? Her support of  Colin Kaepernick and his fight against racial injustice and police brutality. In regards to the NFL versus Kaepernick, Rihanna is “I’m With Kaep” through and through. “The NFL and CBS really wanted Rihanna to be next year’s performer in Atlanta,” an insider told Us Weekly . “They offered it to her, but she said no because of the kneeling controversy. Dancing with the Stars Recap: Who the Eff is Voting for Joe?!

“Most Memorable Year” night on Dancing with the Stars gave us a lot of heartwarming stories, some great dancing, and some terrible dancing.  Oh yes, Grocery Store Joe is still terrible, but did he manage to show signs of improvement? Let’s break down the latest installment, shall we? Mary Lou Retton and Sasha Farber This compatible duo went with the Viennese Waltz to “We Are the Champions” performed by Ray Chew Live. Mary went with 1984 as her most memorable year.  That was the year she won the Olympic gold, so it was a predictable year for her to pick. But she did open up about her win not being all that solid in the lead up to it.  She had knee surgery which could have rendered her unfit to compete in the Olympics.  Her latest routine with Sasha was another solid one that allowed them to scale new heights.  Judges’ Score: 24/30 Milo Manheim and Witney Carson Milo went with 2018 as his most memorable year, and this could be attributed to him being just 17 years old. We dare say that most viewers had no clue who he was prior to his casting, so maybe he had a point.  Milo and Witney both went with another energetic performance that ticked all the boxes as far as the judges’ scores go. It was a Jive to “Can You Do This?” by Aloe Blacc.  Judges’ Scores: 27/30. Nancy McKeon and Val Chmerkovskiy It was time to dance the Rumba for this couple. Nancy went with 2006 as her most memorable year because she felt that was the year of her family.  The duo performed to “Love Someone” performed live by Lukas Graham. As has been the case for Nancy this season, there’s improvement, but she’s still nowhere near where she needs to be.  Judges’ Score: 22/30 Alexis Ren and Alan Bersten The Instagram star and the pro went with a Contemporary performance of “How to Save a Life” performed by Ray Chew Live. They danced a tribute to Alexis’ late mother who passed in 2014.  As always, it was a robust performance with Alexis showing off how flexible she is and the scores reflected it.  Judges’ Score: 26/30 Evanna Lynch and Keo Motsepe Evanna went with 2006 as her year of choice. That was the year she landed the role of Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter movies.  To celebrate this, she performed the Viennese Waltz to “Hedwig’s Theme” by John Williams. Evanna admitted that she had a connection to the movies through the books.  She was offered a role in the movies after becoming penpals with J.K. Rowling while suffering from an eating disorder.  This performance showed just how much she has grown as a dancer, and she has a lot left to give.  Judges’ Score: 27/30 Joe Amabile and Jenna Johnson Joe went with 2018 because he said it was going to be the year he wins Dancing with the Stars!  We’re kidding, of course. He did choose 2018 but said it was because he realized he could fall in love.  His Viennese Waltz to “You Are the Reason” performed live by Calum Scott, and Leona Lewis did not help him much in the scores.  He was all over the place. Who the heck is voting for him? Judges’ Score: 18/30 Juan Pablo Di Pace and Cheryl Burke Juan Pablo went with the year 1999, opening up about it being the year he hot-footed it out of Buenos Aires in order to pursue his dreams of being an entertainer in Los Angeles.  We think it’s fair to say he accomplished his goal! His performance of the Samba to “Ni Ty Ni Yo” by Jennifer Lopez was visually stunning. He and Cheryl upped their game in a big way and got a perfect score in the process.  Judges’ Score: 30/30 John Schneider and Emma Slater John has been rather wooden since his debut on the series, but he’s showing some improvement. He went with the Waltz to “Smile” by Ray Chew Live.  His year of choice was 2016 because that was the year he lost his mother. The performance was lacking, but the judges recognized that he was getting better.  Judges’ Score: 21/30 Bobby Bones and Sharna Burgess Another week, another Greatest Showman number. Bobby went with a Contemporary routine to “A Million Dreams” from the box office smash.  In doing so, he chose 1998 as the year for him because he graduated high school while dreaming of having a better life.  Judges Score: 23/30 Tinashe and Brandon Armstrong Tinashe went with the year 2014 because that was the year her first album was released and gave her the success she was looking for.  Her Rumba to “2 On” by none other than herself gave her and Brandon some more time to shine. They have a lot of chemistry, and it shows in their performances.  Judges’ Score: 27/30 DeMarcus Ware and Lindsay Arnold It was Argentine Tango time for DeMarcus and Lindsay. The duo danced to “Lux Aeterna” by Clint Mansell & Kronos Quarter.  But they went with the year 2016 aka the year DeMarcus winning the Super Bowl. Their performance was tight and filled with big set pieces.  Judges’ Score: 26/30 In the end, it was Nancy and Val and Tinashe and Brandon in jeopardy. Nancy and Val lost their place in the race for the mirrorball trophy.  It’s bizarre that some of the others are still in the competition, but the show is becoming more like a popularity contest these days.  What are your thoughts on the latest elimination? Dancing with the Stars continues Monday on ABC. View Slideshow: Dancing with the Stars: The Odds are Out! Who Will Win?

Twitter Reacts To Maroon 5 Performing The Super Bowl Halftime Show In Atlanta + Why It’s Not All Bad

Source: Kevin Kane / Getty When you think of Atlanta, you think of T.I., you think of a Welcome to Atlanta medley with Jermaine Dupri and Ludacris. You think of Gucci Mane, Future, Jeezy, even the Migos. But one thing that I would never think of when referring to Atlanta is Maroon 5. But the NFL doesn’t care what we think. Maroon 5, which is a great band by the way (we love Adam Whatshisname), has been tapped to headline the halftime show at the 2019 Super Bowl. As much as we love Adam though, he doesn’t make us think of Atlanta or even want to visit Atlanta. The NFL made a questionable decision. We couldn’t be the only ones who had feelings about the halftime show so we decided to check Twitter for reactions. It looks like we weren’t alone. Rob Delaney Pens Powerful Essay on Late Son’s Cancer Battle

Early this year, Rob Delaney’s young son tragically died . His 2-year-old son fought and lost a battle against a fatal brain tumor. Now, eight months later, the still-grieving comedian has released the first excerpts of his book, which he had been writing when it looked like his son was going to make it. This is heavy, powerful stuff, and very much worth reading. On Medium , Rob Delaney shares pieces of the book that he has written about his late son. “I may wish Henry wasn’t in the hospital and it may make me f–king sick that my kids haven’t lived under the same roof for over a year,” Delaney writes in one excerpt. “But I’m always, always happy to enter the hospital every morning and see him,” Delaney says. “It’s exciting  every day  to walk into his room and see him and see him see me.” “The surgery to remove his tumor left him with Bell’s palsy on the left side of his face, so it’s slack and droops,” he describes. “His left eye is turned inward too, due to nerve damage.” “But the right side of his face is incredibly expressive, and that side brightens right up when I walk into the room,” he writes. “There’s no doubt about what kind of mood he’s in, ever,” Denaley continues. “It’s particularly precious when he’s angry because seeing the contrast between a toddler’s naked rage in one half of his face and an utterly placid chubby chipmunk cheek and wandering eye in the other,” Delaney explains. He goes on to say that it “is shocking in a way that makes me and my wife and whatever combination of nurses and/or doctors are in the room laugh every time.” “And when he smiles, forget about it,” Delaney beams. “A regular baby’s smile is wonderful enough.” In contrast, he writes: “When a sick baby with partial facial paralysis smiles, it’s golden. Especially if it’s my baby.” Delaney also speaks of the earliest signs of his son’s illness, which began normally enough — with Henry vomiting in 2016. Babies do that sometimes. What made it worse was that he continued to do so. “Henry was losing weight,” Delaney writes. “Every time he vomited I would freak out. I would feed him so gently, so slowly, and assume I’d done something wrong when he vomited.” Delaney blamed himself over the medical mystery. “Why, if I’d been able to feed Henry’s ravenous, feral older brothers, couldn’t I feed him?” “My baby was getting smaller,” Delaney writes. “And that is a f–ked up thing to see.” “I would often start crying whenever he threw up,” Delaney admits. “I would try not to cry in front of his older brothers and fail.” “And they’d ask why,” Delaney continues. “And I would say it was because I was scared.” It was only after a friend suggesting seeing his child’s pediatrician that Henry, still a baby, was given an MRI. The doctor already suspected that a mass might be forcing Henry to vomit uncontrollably, but did not say the word “tumor” until Rob Delaney said it first. Henry ended up having drastic brain surgery — the one that resulted in his aforementioned lazy eye and partial facial paralysis. But it was not enough. Delaney shares that he wrote about these experiences before his family got the worst news of their lives. “The above was part of a book proposal I put together before Henry’s tumor came back and we learned that he would die,” Delaney explains. Understandably, “I stopped writing when we saw the new, bad MRI.” “My wife and his brothers and I just wanted to be with him around the clock and make sure his final months were happy,” Delaney writes. “And they were.” He adds that he’s putting his writings out there for his intended audience — other parents of very sick children.
