One thing I’ve learned over my years of celebrity blogging is that any day that involves pictures of supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio wearing a bunch of little bikinis is going to be a good one. Entertainment Weekly reports that an outbreak among castmembers has halted production until Monday. By Mawuse Ziegbe The cast of “Glee” Photo: FOX The cast of “Glee” won’t be belting out any big numbers this weekend. According to Entertainment Weekly, production Friday on the hit show was put on hold until Monday due to an outbreak of tonsillitis among its crooning castmembers. The crew was reportedly toiling away on a musical number slated to appear on an episode following the Super Bowl in February. Although EW didn’t specify which stars were ailing, Dianna Agron blogged about laid up in bed with an illness. “Note to self…should have gotten a flu shot,” she wrote Friday. “In bed, hoping that medicine, soup, my computer and a marathon of movies will be the cure.” The break will be brief, however, as the show is expected to resume production on Monday. Details about the forthcoming Super Bowl episode have been trickling out recently. The “Glee” cast will reportedly take on Michael Jackson’s game-changing smash “Thriller” and mash up the track with another soon-to-be-revealed hit. Jams from the Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry and Lady Antebellum will also be revamped by the McKinley High kids. A recent on-set snap of Lea Michele may also give another clue about the upcoming episode. Michele, who plays songbird Rachel Berry , was shot decked out in football gear earlier this week. In August Michele revealed her dream guest star for the Super Bowl episode: Justin Timberlake . “I think they are saving Justin Timberlake for the Super Bowl episode,” Michele told The Hollywood Reporter. “They have to be, because he is so perfect for our show. He has to be on it! When I met Jessica Biel, like a loser, I asked her to tell Justin to come on our show. [Laughs.] She was a little taken aback and said, ‘Um, OK. Jane Lynch reveals that the CBS anchorwoman will perform ‘Tea for Two’ alongside Mathew Morrison. By James Dinh Katie Couric Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/WireImage Katie Couric will come out from behind her CBS news desk and throw on her dancing shoes for the post-Super Bowl episode of “Glee.” The anchorwoman, who previously expressed disappointment in a GQ photo spread featuring the show’s stars earlier this year, will perform a dance number to the tune of “Tea for Two,” according to Jane Lynch. “I haven’t shot with her yet, but yeah, she’s going to be in our Super Bowl episode,” the “Glee” actress told “Access Hollywood” over the weekend. “She’s also doing a dance with [Matthew Morrison]. She’ll be doing ‘Tea for Two.’ ” The whimsical classic, which first appeared in the 1925 musical “No, No, Nanette,” is a loving tune in which a couple imagines their future together. Couric’s “Glee” fandom isn’t a well-kept secret either, as Jane added, “She’s a Gleek! She has been since the beginning.” However, just a few months ago, the 53-year-old anchor was just one of many who appeared not too happy with the cast’s racy photo spread for GQ magazine , which featured Dianna Agron, Cory Monteith and Lea Michele. “As Seth Meyers might say on ‘Weekend Update,’ really?!” Couric said of the spread at the end of her newscast back in October. “These very adult photos of young women who perform in a family show just seem so un-‘Glee’-like. The program is already edgy in the right ways; these images don’t really — in my humble opinion — fit the ‘Glee’ gestalt. I know there are a lot of bigger problems in the world right now, but still, as Mr. Schuester might say to the club, ‘I’m really disappointed.’ ” Katie’s guest spot isn’t the only reason to tune into the hit show’s post-Super Bowl episode, which is reported to be the priciest in television history. Airing February 6, the broadcast will also feature a rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” mashed up with a yet-to-be-chosen song. James Gunn just spent one of the most successful weekends of his life in Toronto, premiering his new superhero-splatter-comedy SUPER to Midnight Madness raves before selling it off to IFC Films in the festival’s first distribution deal. In the end, though, Gunn’s biggest triumph may have come in writing and directing the film he wanted to make exactly how he wanted to make it, with Rainn Wilson’s nobody Frank adopting the crimefighting persona the Crimson Bolt after his wife (Liv Tyler) is all but kidnapped by a local drug baron (Kevin Bacon). It’s a lot harder than it sounds in an age of indie-market turbulence, comic-book genre saturation, and even Gunn’s own creative apprehensions following his 2006 debut Slither . He spoke to Movieline about these and other subjects — from Joe Strummer to God — over the weekend.

It turns out that we do in fact need another ultra-violent satire of comic book movies. I’m not sure how many people would have argued this before the Toronto Film Festival, but after the buzzed-about midnight premiere of James Gunn’s Super and the immediate sale that followed, it seems like a pretty safe assumption. Now, those of us who aren’t at the festival can get a first look with this new clip from the film.

Awards show has taken place on Sunday nights for the past decade. By Gil Kaufman Photo: Jamie McCarthy/WireImage The Oscars may get blitzed by the NFL. The producers behind the biggest night in movies (well, except for the MTV Movie Awards ), are considering moving the Academy Awards from its Sunday night seat to Monday nights in order to avoid competition from the National Football League. According to Variety , Oscar runners are keeping a close eye on the negotiations between NFL owners and players over a new collective bargaining agreement that could add two games to the regular season, which could push the Super Bowl to the same night as the Oscars. Unnamed sources told the magazine that the switch from 16 to 18 games is an almost sure thing beginning with the 2012-13 season. Rather than endure scorching August preseason games and potential conflicts with baseball, the NFL is likely to push the start of the regular season past Labor Day, which would kick the playoffs into February. If that scenario unfolds, then the Super Bowl — typically held the first Sunday in February — could air on the same night as the 2013 Academy Awards in late February. The executive director of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences, Bruce Davis, said he’s keeping an eye on the NFL situation and is prepared to possibly shift the Oscars back to Monday, the night on which the show aired for decades before moving to Sunday in 1999. “Yes, it’s a concern for us,” Davis said of the NFL scenario, noting that the academy and football league have had some back-channel discussions, though he doubted the NFL would take the needs of the Hollywood awards show into consideration when making its decision on the new schedule. “I think our inclination would be to go earlier rather than later, but we need to see,” Davis said of possibly moving the show to a Monday in February rather than back to the first week of March in order to avoid the most-viewed program of the year. “There’s no rule it has to be on a Sunday … we’re looking at a lot of different options.” The Oscar-cast has moved around quite a bit over the years, shifting up to February in 2004 after complaints about the too-long awards season and moving back a week twice in the past six years to avoid competing with the Winter Olympics. The NFL shuffle could also impact the Grammys, which also air in February, but its unlikely to force a shift in the date for that show.

Hope you’re sitting down for this one. As part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations between NFL owners and players, the league is considering expanding its 16-game season to 18 games by 2012-13 . The thinking being that too much potential revenue is left on the table by having four preseason games each year, when two could suffice. If that were to happen, however, the Super Bowl wouldn’t occur until the end of February… and what’s at the end of February?
