Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia Passes Away At 79

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia Dies At Age 79 Conservative Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who voted against Obamacare, same-sex gay marriage and said affirmative action sends black students to schools “too advanced” for them , has peacefully passed away at age 79 while in Texas for a visit. Scalia told friends he wasn’t feeling well Friday night before going to sleep and never waking up. Per CNN : U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, a leading conservative voice on the high court, has died at the age of 79, a government source and a family friend told CNN on Saturday. Scalia died in his sleep during a visit to Texas. A government official said Scalia went to bed Friday night and told friends he wasn’t feeling well. He didn’t get up for breakfast on Saturday morning, and the group he was with for a hunting trip left without him. Someone at the ranch went in to check on him and found him unresponsive. The U.S. Marshals Service is helping to arrange for his body to be returned to his home in McLean, Virginia, an official told CNN, not to investigate his death. They were already present because marshals sometimes help supplement security for traveling justices. In a statement, Chief Justice John Roberts said he and other justices were saddened to hear of Scalia’s passing. “He was an extraordinary individual and jurist, admired and treasured by his colleagues,” Roberts said. “His passing is a great loss to the court and the country he so loyally served. We extend our deepest condolences to his wife Maureen and his family.” Now the issue is whether President Obama will nominate his replacement (in an election year), or swill he let the next president decide. Sources tell CNN he plans to nominate a replacement.

Antonin Scalia Dies; Supreme Court Justice Was 79

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was reportedly found dead in his room at a luxury resort in West Texas this morning. He was 79 years old. Law enforcement officials report that Scalia appears to have died from natural causes. Sources close to the situation say that Scalia was vacationing at the resort with a large group of friends. When he did not appear at breakfast this morning, a hotel employee entered his room and found that he had passed away during the night. The Supreme Court’s longest-serving justice, Scalia was appointed to his post by President Ronald Reagan in 1986. He was the Court’s first Italian-American justice. Texas Governor Ted Abbott issued the following statement about Scalia just moments ago: “ He was the solid rock who turned away so many attempts to depart from and distort the Constitution. His fierce loyalty to the Constitution set an unmatched example, not just for judges and lawyers, but for all Americans. “We mourn his passing, and we pray that his successor on the Supreme Court will take his place as a champion for the written Constitution and the Rule of Law. ” Texas senator and current presidential hopeful Ted Cruz issued a statement calling Scalia “one of the greatest Justices in history.” Scalia is survived by his wife of 56 years and his nine children. Awesomely Insane Woman Rails Against Gay Marriage

The totally insane woman in this video has a question for anyone celebrating the legalization of gay marriage : Are you a Christian? Actually, sorry. Let us do a better impression of the totally insane woman in this video. She's really asking: ARE YOU A CHRISTIAN?!?!?!?!?!?!? We hate to help turn Indiana native Becky Wegner Rommel into a viral sensation, but some videos are too amazing not to share… even when those videos are filled with hate and maniacal ranting. Rommel is entitled to her opinion on gay marriage, of course, but she goes off in this footage (which she uploaded to Facebook) about Islamic “Extremlists” (that’s not a misspelling on our part), while decreeing over and over that “five justices decided God was wrong.” She also has strong takes on abortion and how God did on a cross for the “very people who are spitting on His face right now” and on how disappointing the Founding Fathers must be in this Supreme Court decision. Becky ends by begging her fellow Christians to take a stand. It's safe to say someone does not believe love won last week. This poor woman.

Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi Renew Vows to Save Marriage

Just seven months since Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi celebrated 10 years  together, reports are coming in (again) that the couple is having trouble. But rather than calling it quits, Ellen and Portia are renewing their vows to save their marriage. According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Ellen and Portia have been teetering on the edge of divorce for more than a year now.  They’ve even worked out separate living arrangements. The couple’s fighting has increased exponentially since Portia accused Ellen of sleeping with her close friend Tatum O’Neal. Ellen and Tatum are BFF, and, for a while, Portia didn’t think much of it.  But, in an interview, Tatum claimed she has started dating only women. Hearing that Tatum is dating women, Portia got uber jealous of Ellen and Tatum’s friendship. The practice of renewing wedding vows is common among troubled couples.  It looks like Ellen and Portia are buying into the vow renewal as a way of saving their relationship. Plus, with the Supreme Court’s decision to legalize same-sex marriage, it’s perfect timing to say “I do, again.” Since the ruling, Ellen has gotten a ton of emails and tweets thanking her and Portia for paving the way for gay marriage to be recognized nationwide,” a source told Radar Online. “She knows that getting re-married in Louisiana, which has always been a very anti-gay state, would be rubbing it in to some people, but she does not care.” Some are surprised that Ellen and Portia haven’t divorced already.  And renewing their vows is just patching the wound. Ellen and Portia have been a pillar in the journey toward marriage equality, as exemplified by Ellen’s statement to a bigoted pastor .  We hope things work out for them.
