Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes Mark Five-Year Anniversary!

In the spring of 2005, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes met. They hit it off immediately and began a whirlwind romance, which many people felt was a publicity stunt. Many people are eating serious helpings of crow now. Their first date was said to be a sushi dinner aboard Tom’s private plane and later that month, they were exclusive. By April of 2006, they had a daughter, Suri. Then in November 18 of that year, TomKat became lovingly joined in matrimony. Yep, today’s there five-year anniversary. That’s like 25 in Hollywood years! Tom Cruise takes a lot of flack for being kind of out there in his own world, but let’s face it, he and Katie are not only harmless, but a model relationship in many ways. We don’t know them personally, but neither goes out of their way to seek attention and both seem like attentive parents and spouses. Quirky, maybe, but who’s not? With so much coverage devoted to Kim Kardashian and Ashton Kutcher , it’s nice to see a marriage working out, isn’t it? Granted, it’s his third. But they try! Hard! It seems like forever ago that Cruise, who’s now filming Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol , was jumping on couches and warring with Matt Lauer like a loon. We kinda miss those days, but we’re glad he’s happier and mellower with Katie these days. Happy anniversary, TomKat, and happy weekend, THG readers … Tom Cruise Jumps on Oprah’s Couch

Whitney Duncan, Survivor Star: Dating Keith Tollefson, Secretly Married to Donny Fallgatter?

Whitney Duncan’s Survivor bio says the country music singer is 27, lives in Nashville, and is an outgoing, happy, honest. It’s the honest part being questioned. The blonde, who portrays herself as single on the show, has in fact been married since August 1, 2010, to Donny Fallgatter, 32. They wed in Gatlinburg, Tenn. She was also runner-up for Country Weekly ‘s “Hottest Bachelorette” this year. The reason this is significant? Because Whitney Duncan has been part of a relationship with Survivor co-star Keith Tollefson (pictured) playing out on TV. Fallgatter, from Bismark, N.D., is lead singer for the band KingBilly. Their paths crossed in June 2010 and their romance heated up quickly after that. Whitney Duncan soon moved in with Fallgatter. Before she left to compete on Survivor in May, the couple announced their engagement to family and friends. “Donny was totally faithful while she was gone,” says a close friend. “He even went to help out at her parents’ house in West Tennessee a couple times.” As for Whitney’s faithfulness … At one point before returning home, Duncan phoned Fallgatter, and, as Fallgatter told the friend, “He said she sounded weird, like something was up.” Fallgatter’s suspicions were confirmed in a subsequent call, the friend says, when she confessed that she was in a relationship with Keith Tollefson. “Donny sent me a text that said, ‘Whitney got into a Survivor relationship.’ I called him and he was upset so I went over to his place,” says the friend. “That’s when he told me that she wasn’t his fianc

Tiny Survivor: 3-Year-Old Girl Feeds And Takes Care Of Herself For 2 Days After Her Mom Dies In The House

This is so sad: A 3-year-old girl comforted herself with her favorite toy and ate cheese , leftover lasagna and milk for two days after her mother died unexpectedly in their New Zealand home. The girl’s uncle, Pete Silbery, told The Associated Press on Friday that Shylah Silbery managed to open the fridge and comfort herself with a teddy bear named “Possum” after Lauren Silbery, 28, died. The family last spoke to Lauren Silbery on Oct. 19, he said. Two days later, they were worried enough to call a friend who lived near her Wellington home. The friend could see the girl inside the home, but not the mother, prompting the family to call police, Pete Silbery said. Police coaxed Shylah to drag a coffee table to the door so she could reach the lock and unlock the door, before she told them, “Mummy won’t wake up,” Silbery said. “I can only imagine her in there for that long, trying to wake Mum up as well,” he said. Shylah spent several days in a hospital recovering from dehydration and diaper rash. “She’s doing OK now. She’s still bubbly,” he said. “When we lowered the coffin into the grave at the cemetery, though, she pointed at it and said ‘Mummy’s in there.’ It was pretty heartbreaking.” According to the Taranaki Daily News, the girl’s grandmother said she knew Lauren Silbery was dead as soon as she walked into the house with the authorities. Authorities are awaiting the results of an autopsy but don’t believe Lauren Silbery’s death was suspicious, Wellington police spokesman Victoria Davis said. The New Zealand Herald reported that Silbery was found face down near her bed, which indicates she may have died from a stroke or a heart attack and fell out of bed. Shylah Silbery was in the care of Child, Youth and Family, but her family was hoping to get custody, the Herald said. Awwww, we hope the best for this little girl! Source

‘Dancing With The Stars’: David Arquette Gets Cut

Justin Bieber performs his Christmas collabo with Boyz II Men on results show. By Kara Warner Kym Johnson and David Arquette Photo: ABC The field of competing couples on the 13th season of “Dancing With The Stars” was trimmed down to five Tuesday night after David Arquette and partner Kym Johnson were eliminated from the show. Nancy Grace and Tristan MacManus, who were the other couple in the bottom two, got to keep their dancing shoes for another go next week. “This has to be a mistake!” Arquette joked when his name was called. “This is my show! I love all the people I got to know and dance with. This whole production is top-notch, and thank you to all the fans!” “I’m going to take a lot away from this experience,” Arquette said in his goodbye video. ” ‘DWTS’ was an experience of a lifetime. You learn things about yourself you never thought possible.” The latest elimination show was as packed with headlining performers as ever. Teen king Justin Bieber kicked off the show with a lively performance of his hit “Never Say Never” and later returned to the dance floor with Boyz II Men to perform their Christmas collaboration “Fa La La” from his just-released holiday album, Under the Mistletoe. Bieber and the Boyz weren’t the only artists to take the “DWTS” stage Tuesday night: Rising star Christina Perri sang “Arms,” while 17-year-old ballerina and cancer survivor Victoria-Rose Viren performed a moving duet in front of Perri. Other fun performances included the encore dance of the night, the honors for which went to Team Paso Doble (Ricki Lake, Rob Kardashian and Hope Solo), who reprised their “powerful” dance to Evanescence’s “Wake Me Up Inside.” Seasoned pro Derek Hough also performed a fun routine with fellow pro Allison Holker. Heading into the eighth week of competition, Lake and Hough are sitting pretty at the top of the leaderboard, followed closely by fan favorite J.R. Martinez and his partner Karina Smirnoff, “dark horse” Rob Kardashian and partner Cheryl Burke, and Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Were you surprised to see David go? ‘Walking Dead’ Star Jon Bernthal Explains Shane’s ‘Trek’

‘You’re not doing it to be the hero but because you love him,’ actor tells MTV News of his character’s dangerous choices. By Josh Wigler Jon Bernthal Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images “Walking Dead” character Shane Walsh ( Jon Bernthal ) cannot catch a break. Once the alpha dog in this ragtag group of survivors, Shane is now at the bottom of the totem pole with everything stripped away from him: Former lover Lori has returned to his best friend Rick’s open arms, everyone’s following Rick’s lead, and Shane wants nothing more than to get the heck out of Dodge and kiss a bad situation goodbye. But all that changed the moment that Carl Grimes, Rick and Lori’s young son, took a bullet to the gut. In an instant, Shane changed his tune and set out to help his best friend get through a desperate situation by risking life and limb to secure medical supplies for Carl’s surgery. But as is so often the case on “The Walking Dead,” things did not go as planned, and Shane now finds himself cornered by a pack of flesh-hungry walkers with no apparent way out. It’s an especially scary situation considering that the smash-hit AMC series — now two episodes into its second season — has already passed the point in which Shane died in the “Walking Dead” comic books, leaving one to wonder whether or not this is the final hoorah for Rick’s best pal. You might think that Shane, who was a split second from leaving this group just one episode ago, is currently regretting his decision to go out and help Carl. But actor Jon Bernthal has a different explanation for his character’s choice. “One of the things I love about this show is that the situations and circumstances give these characters an opportunity to redeem themselves,” Bernthal told MTV News about Shane’s current mind-set. “You can be completely on the outs with everyone in the group, but then here’s this wonderful opportunity to redeem yourself. Save the kid, the kid you love. Save the woman you love’s child. Save your best friend that your relationship is dead and gone. You’re doing it not to be the hero but because you love him.” Doing great, brave things in the name of love is a noble idea, but it’s a dangerous one as well, Bernthal warned. “With Shane, I think he really figures out, he adopts this new world order in this new world they’re living in. Things like guilt, shame and trying to do things that are morally right are far less important and really have no place in this new world compared to surviving and doing what you have to do to stay alive and protect the people you love,” he said. “If you take that a step further, it gets very dangerous very fast: If you’re with a group of people and you’re trying to survive and one person is holding you back or slowing you down, in this world, the right thing to do is to help that person and bring them along,” he continued. “In [the world of ‘The Walking Dead’], the right thing to do is to kill that person and send them away. I think Shane, that whole kind of mission you’re referring to, I think it starts Shane off on a trek that will change him forever.” Either Shane’s “trek” is going to be a short one, or he’ll find some way to survive his current situation. Regardless of what happens next, Bernthal teased that Shane’s episode three future is all about “going on that mission, man. Going on that mission and making hard choices.” What did you think of this week’s “Walking Dead”? Tell us in the comments.

Rupert Boneham to Run for Governor of Indiana

Can reality show popularity translate into success at the polls? Rupert Boneham hopes so. The former Survivor star, who won $1 million in 2004 when he was voted that show’s fan favorite, announced this weekend that he’s running for governor of Indiana under the Libertarian Party. Arguing that he’s “not beholden to any special interests,” Boneham said at a news conference yesterday that he’s the right man to replace Mitch Daniels in office. “I have only one interest: Empowering Hoosiers to give back to their communities. If the government puts up roadblocks, then they should be repealed,” Rupert said. “Hoosiers have consistently voted in professional politicians and look at the results. Hoosiers should have a different choice in 2012.” The aspiring politician runs Rupert’s Kids, a charity that provides mentoring and job-training to at-risk youths. But the real question remains: what will the tribe of Indiana residents decide when it speaks next November?
