‘Jersey Shore’ Star Sammi Recalls A Denim Disaster On ‘When I Was 17’

Sammi Sweetheart’s sister was none too pleased when the reality star borrowed skintight jeans and didn’t bring them back in one piece. By Vaughn Trudeau Schoonmaker Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola appears on “When I Was 17” Photo: MTV News When she was 17 years old, “Jersey Shore” star Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola chose the wrong night to sneakily borrow her sister’s favorite jeans. “Her pants looked better on me than my own pants,” Sammi insists on the latest episode of “When I Was 17,” also featuring “Shore” castmates Vinny and Ronnie. While getting dressed to go out for a party, Sammi snuck into her sister’s room and snatched a pair of “super skintight” jeans. Unfortunately, she picked the wrong night to wear them. “I’m at this party thinking I look hot,” Sammi recalled. “And, you know, cops come knock on the door.” Fearing the cops and not letting the skintight jeans hold her back, Sammi and the rest of the partygoers booked it through the back door. Having escaped the house, Sammi challenged herself to hop a fence, only the pants weren’t so willing to keep up with her. “I go to jump over the fence, and I hear [a ripping noise]. Literally, my sister’s pants split.” Sammi made her way home, where she had to break the news to her sister that she had not only stolen the pants, but had managed to destroy them. “She was screaming at me,” Sammi said. “We were screaming at each other. Not a good time.” Now, years later, her sister doesn’t seem any less peeved. “They were my absolute favorite pair of jeans,” she said. “I would probably still be wearing them now.” Catch a “Jersey Shore” edition of “When I Was 17” — featuring Vinny, Sammi and Ronnie — Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV. Justin Bieber Lines Up ‘U Smile’ As New Single

Motown-style number from My World 2.0 was initially slated for March release. By James Dinh Justin Bieber Photo: Robyn Beck/ Getty Images Justin Bieber is about to give his legion of devoted fans another reason to smile. The pop star says that the third single from his My World 2.0 will be the breezy “U Smile,” a song that was originally slated for release earlier this year. “It’s OFFICIAL- “U SMILE” is gonna be the New Single!! The song is dedicated to the fans so this one is for all of u!! Radio here we come!!” Bieber tweeted on Friday afternoon (August 6). “U Smile,” which has a retro Motown vibe, features the singer expressing his devotion to his sweetheart. ” ‘Cause my cards are on the table/ And I’m willing and I’m able/ But I fold to your wish/ Cause it’s my command,” he croons during the song’s bridge. The mid-tempo number was originally suppose to be released back in March but for some reason was held back by the release of the dance cut “Somebody to Love.” Bieber had already started promotion for the song, even treating national television audiences to live performances of the track on “American Idol” and “Saturday Night Live.” But if history repeats itself, there’s a strong possibility that “U Smile” will earn the 16-year-old yet another hit. When the song was first digitally released on iTunes this past spring, it moved quickly up the chart. The singer took to Twitter at the time to thank fans for the speedy accomplishment: “wrote this song for u guys, and now u are all helping it climb the TOP TEN of ITUNES… U SMILE is #10 already! thank u so much. Lets go #1!” he tweeted . The Biebster spoke to MTV News in March about working on the track alongside songwriters Jerry Duplessis, Arden Altino and Dan August Rig. “I worked with August. I got him. He’s a really good writer,” the singer said of his collaborator. “The song is amazing. We really love the song, so we decided to cut it. It’s really amazing.” What do you think Bieber fans? Simon Cowell’s Top Five ‘American Idol’ Moments

We look back at the judge’s meanest, funniest and most truthful comments. By Eric Ditzian Simon Cowell Photo: M. Caulfield/American Idol 2008 While the ostensible point of Wednesday night’s “American Idol” finale was to decide the fates of Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox , the evening’s spotlight returned again and again to Simon Cowell . Before the acerbic yet somehow lovable British judge left to jumpstart another Fox show, “Idol” celebrated his nine seasons of work with video segments, comedic bits and an appearance by former judge — and frequent Cowell sparring partner — Paula Abdul. We’re gonna miss the guy, with his ludicrously unbuttoned dress shirts and surly witticisms. It’s an open question whether the show can survive without him, especially coming off a season that almost everyone can agree was lackluster at best and soul-crushing at worst. We worry about what “Idol” will be like without Cowell there to speak the truth in that inimitable style of his. As Simon Cowell leaves us behind — not to return until late in 2011 with “The X Factor” — MTV News took a look back at the most memorable moments from his “Idol” tenure. The Kiss : For years, Cowell and Abdul’s half-flirty, half-cruel, entirely entertaining relationship was the most riveting element of the show. Good singers and horrible singers came and went, but there was always Cowell and Abdul alternating between acting like a bickering married couple or elementary-school-aged siblings. In season two, they filmed a skit that hilariously brought everything out into the open: They’d been carrying on a secret affair the entire time. And to prove it, they shared a sloppy kiss over a dinner of champagne and whipped cream. No matter that it turned out to be Simon’s dream (or nightmare). The Bush Baby : Cowell’s judging style has always toed the line between scathing and inappropriate. The audition phase of the contest always brings out Simon’s prickly side, and during season six, he ended up going too far with his insults when he ripped contestant Kenneth Swale (a.k.a. Kenneth Briggs). “You look a little odd, your dancing is terrible, the singing was horrendous, and you look like one of those creatures that live in the jungle with the massive eyes,” Cowell told him. “What are they called? Bush babies.” Not cool, Simon, not cool. “You’re sick,” Abdul told him. The Teletubbies Attack and the Sweetheart Swipe : “Idol” contestants go insult-for-insult with Cowell at their own peril. Shoot, even Ryan Seacrest has courted danger when he went after the Brit judge. Simon abuses people for a living — the guy knows what he’s going. But one night on season six, both a contestant and Seacrest came out on the winning end of a battle with Cowell. It all got started when Cowell told Chris Sligh, “I kinda felt I was at some weird student gig.” One of his finer insults this wasn’t, and he followed it up by condescendingly calling Seacrest “sweetheart.” “Don’t call me sweetheart,” Ryan responded. “We don’t have that kind of relationship. I don’t want that kind of relationship.” Perhaps feeling emboldened, Sligh then pulled out an insult that referenced two of Cowell’s more embarrassing career achievements. “I guess my only question is, like, obviously audiences think that this kind of music is very popular right now,” he said. “And what I have to say right now is just because I don’t sing Il Divo or Teletubbies doesn’t mean I’m not a good singer.” The Bigger Stage : When in doubt, Cowell resorts to insults about a contestant’s appearance. Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s just plain mean. One night in season five, it was both. After Mandisa Hundley delivered a killer take on Alicia Keys’ “Fallin’,” Cowell waited until the singer had left the audition room to zing her. “Do we have a bigger stage this year?” he asked. “She’s like Frenchie,” Abdul added, referencing the season-two plus-size singer. “Forget Frenchie, she’s like France,” Simon quipped. And All Those Other Insults : Who are we kidding? It’s impossible to choose just five moments from this guy’s “Idol” career. There are simply too many deliciously vicious insults. Here are a few of our favs. To season three’s Ashley Thomas: “What that reminded me of when I was sitting here was, like, instead of being on the stage of ‘American Idol,’ you’re at a local rodeo, you’d just being crowned the prom queen, and it was like the song before you lasso a bull.” To season five’s Bucky Covington: ”I’ve got to talk about this Jessica Simpson hairstyle. I mean, seriously, that has got to go!” To season five’s Bobby Bennett: “If you hear a scream from a hotel room in Las Vegas, that’s where Barry Manilow’s watching this show. … Horror films entertain me. You know, it’s a different kind of entertainment.” To season six’s Haley Scarnato: “Can I tell you the problem? Do you know what I said to Paula halfway through the song? I don’t know your name.” To season seven’s Ashley Lawing: “I’m going to steal your dog.” To season seven’s Kristy Lee Cook: “You sounded like Dolly Parton on helium.” Share your favorite Simon Cowell insults in the comments below. Courtney Love Tries To Ignore Billy Corgan’s ‘Spazzing’

‘I don’t feel like having the rock-star fight,’ she tells MTV News of Smashing Pumpkins frontman Twitter attack. By James Montgomery Courtney Love Photo: MTV News During her appearance earlier this week on the “Late Show With David Letterman,” Courtney Love made it abundantly clear that she’s a changed woman. Speaking frankly, Love opened up about her battles with drugs, her (very public) outbursts and her stints in rehab. It would appear that, along with a brand-new Hole album — the snarling-yet-strangely sensitive Nobody’s Daughter hit stores earlier this week — she also has a new outlook on life. As if to prove it, the singer is brushing aside online barbs lobbed at her by Billy Corgan. See, on the same day she appeared on Letterman’s show, Corgan — Love’s onetime flame and frequent collaborator — launched an all-out Twitter attack on her. Corgan accused her of stealing songs he wrote, advised her to “go … live off your husband’s money” and, to top it all, brought into the fray Love’s relationship with her daughter, Frances Bean Cobain , of whom she lost guardianship earlier this year. Had this happened just a year ago, Love probably would have raged mightily. Instead, she offered only a few, relatively demure Twitter replies and then moved on with her life. This is, after all, the new Courtney Love. “I don’t know what he’s spazzing about. It’s just so strange,” Love told MTV News on Thursday (April 29). “I’m trying to just be Teflon about it. … He did it last time [Love released an album, 2004’s solo America’s Sweetheart ]. and it’s nothing new, and it’s not an accident, I think, that he did it on the day of release [of Nobody’s Daughter ]. And then he went after the kid, and it was like, ‘Dude, man, that’s creepy.’ I just find that creepy. “He’s always been really obsessed with his place in the drama with Kurt [Cobain] and me, and yet, he doesn’t really have a place,” Love continued. “Even though I respect Billy sonically, and as a talent, Kurt didn’t. So when he titled a record Pisces Iscariot in the ’90s, it really cheesed me off. Because he was referring to his star sign and Kurt’s star sign and that he had somehow had something to do with something in our marriage, when our marriage, for what it was — very short and brief — [it was] pretty flawless.” Although she appeared to be finished, Love paused for a second and then went on about Corgan. This time, she got a few jabs in. She is, after all, still Courtney Love. “I’ve never seen anyone so talented, so f—ing talented, blow their mojo [the way Corgan has]. Maybe it’s because he has all the money. He got all the money. He is so rich. He’s, like, Oprah-rich. … He invested really well,” she laughed. “I can’t really theorize on it, other than to say I don’t understand. … I don’t know what his problem is, but when you bring in my kid, that just pisses me off. But I don’t feel like having the rock-star fight. People are like, ‘Watch Courtney and Billy fight!’ No, I’m not fighting.” Not anymore, at least. Hottest Sandra Bullock Picture of the Day

It’s no secret that I can’t stand Sandra Bullock because I know she’s been marketed as this All-American Sweetheart because of movies she was cast in, blurring the lines of reality for the average American, but the reality of the shit is that she was married to some Nazi motherfucker who fucks gutter trash and whether he goes to sex rehab or not, there is no way Sandra Bullock wasn’t aware of the shit, involved in the shit and I really don’t believe that Sandra Bullock and Jesse James marriage was nothing but a lie for publicity. Nothing in Hollywood is real, but what is real is how bitch is hididng in some garment bag like she was just in a mob hit or a victim of some serial killer being transported to the bridge to be thrown in the river and I think that’s her best look yet, not because I’m a psycho into dead celebrities, but I’m tired of people feelin’ for a bitch who’s had too much success in life who doesn’t deserve for anyone to feel for her especially when she was involved in the shit…cuz there’s no way this was all secret….it was just secret to the public…Stop being idiots people….I want this to end…cuz these people really aren’t important enough to talk about.
