5 Ways To Make Your Exit On A Bad Date

See the original post:

Say you’re on a blind date. You’re sitting at the bar, in your little black dress, hair pulled into a neat side bun with the red flower you said you’d wear peaking out from behind your left ear. You feel a heavy hand on your shoulder,  so you look down from the corner of your eye and notice the fingers on the hand on your shoulder hold 5 clunky gold rings–one for each finger, long razor sharp sabor tooth tiger dirty nails and a ridiculously heavy gold watch. But wait, there’s more. As you turn around fully you see a greasy face, perm wearing, cow hide fedora sporting, Bootsy Collins Funkadelic glasses donned, Jerome from “Martin” looking character in platform shoes and a silk wife beater. You are floored. And in your mind, the date has already ended before it even began. Okay, so maybe this isn’t your exact situation but you catch my drift, you’re on a bad date. Period. What do you do? Check out the 5 ways to kindly make your exit on that nightmare from hell: 5. Create a code red. Before even leaving to meet your date, call up one of your best girlfriends and come up with a plan. I call this plan, code red. Code red is a plan specifically devised as a safe exit out of any and every catastrophe. Here’s what you do: Call up your girl and inform her that if you call her and hang up at any point during the date, that is her cue to call you so you can walk away and act as if you absolutely have to take this call. On your way back to your table from taking “the call” amp up your urgency and politely act as if you are having a family/friend emergency and have to head out, let him know you’d love to do this again some other time and BOUNCE!-Side note: make sure your girlfriend is the last person you called so all you’ll have to do is hit send, let it ring a little and then end. 4. Suddenly get sick. Now, while this does require a tad bit of acting, it really is fairly easy to do. All you do is, excuse yourself to go to the ladies room and don’t return for about 15-20 minutes later. Return to the table with fresh beads of “sweat” on your forehead (which will really be water), when he asks if you’re okay tell him no, you’ve suddenly caught some kind of stomach virus and have to get going. Let her/him know you will call  later to reschedule after you’re feeling better and hit the road with no bridges broken. 3. Create a quick lie and exit . This is extremely simple and needs to happen the exact moment you realize he/she is not for you. The moment you realize this throw your little white lie into action. Exhibit A: “Omigosh! It’s __o’clock! I totally forgot I agreed to babysit my niece/nephew for my sister, I’m so sorry I have to go pick him up. We’ll have to do this again some other time. I’m so sorry, I’ll call you.” And that was all she wrote. Get in, get out, plan executed. 2. Turn him off. This plan involves you to get a little down and dirty, I have to warn you…you will have to do some things you most likely (hopefully) would never do in your everyday life. This plan involves you to do anything to turn him off which means if you have to gross him out, do that, if you have to lie and say you have 12 kids and 19 baby fathers (I know it doesn’t add up but again, were trying to turn him off so correct calculation isn’t exactly a factor), do that. This is a do or die situation, and it’s either kill or be killed. If he’s just that bad of a date and nothing will turn him off you may have to just come clean and tell the truth. 1. Be honest. Being honest is really simple, there’s no specific plans or codes to this one, it’s just telling the truth. Plain and simple. However, this is probably one of the most awkward ways as you possibly run the risk of being disrespect or burning a bridge or two. To be frank, there really aren’t that many kind way to get out of a bad date. It’s a rough dating game out there and at the same time you don’t want to dismiss someone that you possibly could have a business relationship in the future with. I mean who knows what the future holds, so if you absolutely can’t politely exit a bad date, at least you know you tried. Have you ever gone on a date from hell, if so how did you get out of it? 7 Ways To Glam Up Your Walk Of Shame “I Asked My Man If He Ever Had Sex With A Man & He Said ‘Not Unless I Was Tricked’” The Mis-Education Of Dating Follow me on twitter @arieinthecity and on facebook at Ariel Crockett!

Julie Chen Met William and Kate

My husband and I were literally at the table right behind them, and whenever someone would go on stage to say, “And tonight, with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge,” I had a perfect view of Kate turning to look at William. She would smile and give a little giggle and they would look into each other#39;s eyes as if to say, “Hey, that#39;s us!” – like, it was exciting for both of them to be referred to as that. That was very sweet. No stranger to meeting people from all walks of life in her role

Beanie Sigel Says Jay-Z Wouldn’t Let Him Out Of Record Deal

With an offer from 50 Cent on the table, Beans tells ‘Rap Fix Live’ his old pal and onetime boss said, ‘I can’t let you go.’ By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Beanie Sigel on “RapFix Live” Photo: MTV News Beanie Sigel put his entire career in retrospect on Wednesday’s (July 6) “RapFix Live.” Once an intergal part of Jay-Z and Dame Dash’s Roc-A-Fella Records, Beanie Sigel — like most of the label’s roster — was suddenly on the outside looking in once the label split. Not only was Beans left in limbo, but the Philadelphia MC was in the midst of legal troubles at the time. Upon his release from prison in 2005 , Sigel secured a deal with 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records. And according to Beans, all he needed was a release from his Def Jam contract from Jay-Z, who happened to be the label president at that time. “When I first got out of jail, I had a meeting, a situation that was already lined up and set up where I could’ve had [a deal] over there,” Sigel said of an agreement 50 Cent put on the table for him. “He wanted to give me a label, a whole label deal … and a whole lot of money too.” Feeling what he described as a sense of loyalty, Sigel went to meet first with Jay, who hadn’t communicated with the rapper during the year he was locked up. “Coming where I came out from, that situation with Roc-A-Fella, I was like, ‘Let me go holla at my man and see what he got for me before I jump over there.’ ” Sigel said he was hoping that Jay would release him from his Def Jam contract in a move that would free the State Property rapper up to do business with 50. Sigel admitted, however, that while he told Jay he had a pending offer, he didn’t reveal to Jay that it was from G-Unit. “I told him I had to roll. ‘If you can’t make that situation happen for me, I gotta leave. I gotta go,’ ” he recalled telling Jay. “I asked him to just let me go — from Def Jam, not from Roc-A-Fella — because he was the president of Def Jam. ‘I want to leave Def Jam, I’m out. You’re the president, you can push that button. Let me get my release papers.’ ” But Hov didn’t fulfill his old running mate’s request. “I went to Jay like, ‘Let me get this [record deal] situation,’ and he was like, ‘I can’t let you go.’ He was like, ‘No.’ He was like, ‘Nah, let me see what I could do.’ That ‘see what I could do’ turned into another two years.” In the end, Sigel never signed with G-Unit, and by 2009, Beans was launching dis rhymes at Jay after hearing what he interpreted as a subliminal attack against him on Jay’s The Blueprint III album. Despite all that has gone down, Beans reiterated to on “RapFix Live” that he was appreciative of the opportunities Jay-Z and Dame Dash had given him while signed to Roc-A-Fella. Saigon Finally Tells The Greatest Story Never Told

‘This album is my offering to hip-hop,’ he tells Mixtape Daily of long-awaited debut. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Rahman Dukes Saigon Photo: MTV News Mixtape Daily Main Pick Street King : Saigon Holding It Down For : Mooseknuckle to Brownsville Independent LP : The Greatest Story Never Told Real Spit : “This ain’t about a mixtape, this is about my story,” Saigon, a Mixtape Daily favorite, told us when we asked him about his upcoming project. “I know you know me from the mixtapes, but this is the album, the debut.” Pardon the intensity, but our Brooklyn brother has been hard at work on this project for more than a few years, and his labor of love is just weeks away from finally seeing the light of day. “This album is my offering to hip-hop,” Sai said. “There’s no jumping from story to story. It’s put together like a story, from start to beginning. And I think it’s a great piece of work that people are gonna appreciate.” The New York rhyme spitter has a tale that’s as in-depth as his poetics on wax. He was one of the Big Apple’s finest upstarts in years and inked a deal with Atlantic Records. He later raged against the machine, however, with his blistering “Trans-Atlantic Slave Deal” when he felt he was being pushed to deliver pop hits and later parted ways with the label. On February 15, the rapper will finally release a collective of material that showcases his full range of skills, from his booming voice, passionate delivery and lively topical offerings. After delivering a couple of warning shots, Saigon is in storytelling mode now. Joints to Check For

The Rite’s Mikael Hafstrom on His Exorcism Thriller and the Still-Shelved Shanghai

Director Mikael Hafstrom ( 1408, Derailed ) was initially skeptical of taking on the exorcism thriller The Rite , about a young priest (Colin O’D onoghue) who learns the craft of ghost — okay, demon — busting from Sir Anthony Hopkins in Rome. Then he read the non-fiction book which provided the basis for its story based from American priest (and guest Movieline critic ) Father Gary Thomas, and found that he could bring more to the table than the schlocky thrills found in most other genre offerings.

Jennifer Lopez Brings ‘Latina Flavor’ To ‘American Idol,’ Fans Say

‘Paula Abdul did her thing, but J.Lo can do better,’ one fan says at auditions for Lopez’s ‘On the Floor’ video. By MTV News staff Steven Tyler, Ryan Seacrest, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson Photo: Michael becker / FOX Two episodes into the new season of “American Idol,” fans are weighing in on the show’s newest judges: rock icon Steven Tyler and Hollywood triple threat Jennifer Lopez. Having already judged talent in New Jersey and New Orleans , some of Lopez’s biggest fans are loving what the New York native is bringing alongside side Tyler and “Idol” vet Randy Jackson at the table. “She looked amazing. She looked clean. She looked fresh,” Falon Johnson told MTV News at auditions for J.Lo’s “On the Floor” music video. “She’s like the new Paula Abdul. I’m excited to see what she brings to ‘American Idol,’ because she has some tough shoes to fill. I think she’s gonna do just fine. She’s J.Lo!” Carlos Ortiz thought Lopez found her footing at the table and that her opinions and criticisms were justified. “I think she is going to be fabulous,” he said. “Her consistency in every way, every detail, every mannerism that she puts out there, I think she’s gonna bring up lots of good things for these kids.” Fellow “On the Floor” auditioner Jason Maldonado was excited to see Jenny From the Block being herself on the show. “I think she’s bringing the Latina flavor to it,” he said. “So it’s different. Paula Abdul did her thing, but J.Lo can do better.” Ortiz also thinks fans might be tuning in just to see Lopez. “I think they made rather right choices. I watched the ratings last night; they’re over 26 million,” he said. “They actually saw the show. I think they’re doing great, and I think it has to do with J.Lo.” How do you think J.Lo is doing on the judges’ panel so far? Share your reviews in the comments! Melissa Etheridge Set To Star In ‘American Idiot’ Musical

Rocker will replace Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong as St. Jimmy in the hit Broadway show for one week next month. By Jocelyn Vena Melissa Etheridge Photo: Jason Kempin/ Getty Images Melissa Etheridge will put a gender-bending spin on the lead role in the Broadway hit “American Idiot” when she joins the show for a one-week engagement beginning February 1. The singer will take the place of Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, who currently is tackling the part of St. Jimmy. “Billie Joe and I always believed that it would be incredible to have a woman take on the role of St. Jimmy. This character is seductive, thrilling and dangerous. Melissa Etheridge is all that and so much more,” the show’s Tony Award-winning director, Michael Mayer, said about the casting decision to BroadwayWorld.com . “She’s a rock icon and we couldn’t be more thrilled that she’s bringing her immense talent to ‘American Idiot.’ ” The Green Day singer just kicked off a 50-performance run of dates in the show earlier this month. Right now the schedule for upcoming “American Idiot” performances is as follows: Armstrong for the remainder of January, Etheridge for February 1–6 and Armstrong again for February 10–27. The actor who originated the part on Broadway, Tony Vincent, ended his run as St. Jimmy on December 30. Armstrong previously appeared in eight performances of the stage show in September 2010. During that stretch, ticket sales grew to more than $1 million; last week’s grosses for “American Idiot” were around $600,000. The musical is based on Green Day’s smash 2004 album of the same name. When “American Idiot” opened in April 2010, Armstrong talked with MTV News about the show and the recording. “I think, politically, American Idiot , when we were writing it, it was trying to make sense out of a big mess,” he explained. “You’re trying to find something to believe in, but it’s difficult when you’re getting bombarded with useless information. So it’s just [about] trying to find your identity and your individualism in the midst of all that.” Would you be excited to see Melissa Etheridge star in “American Idiot”?
