This Tim Tebow thing has gotten WAY out of hand!! Saturday night, Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos we’re humiliated at home by Tom Brady and the New England Patriots 45-10. A majority of this years NFL season was spent debating the merits of the first-year starting quarterback, and whether or not he can actually PLAY the position that he was drafted for. The humble, well-mannered, overtly-Christian, WHITE, quarterback quickly became a lightning rod for polarizing debates in offices, on trains, at dinner tables, and especially on TV. Stephen A. Smith is one of the sports pundits who is at the center of the Tebow controversy alongside his morning show partner Skip Bayless on ESPN’s First Take. People tend to feel very strongly one way or another when it comes to discussing Tebow and in most cases both religion and RACE are a factor in those feelings. As a “non-believer” in Tebowmania, Stephen A. Smith has found himself on the receiving end of the ire of Tebow fanatics. Today, he got a particularly disturbing message on Twitter that he shared with his followers of exactly HOW out of pocket some folks are. After posting this disclaimer, Smith retweeted the hate-filled message: This ignorant-a$$ tweet made us wonder…would Tim Tebow be received differently if he was a black quarterback??
