Phil Mickelson made headlines this week, but not for draining any high-pressured birdie putts or choking away another Major. Instead, on Sunday, the popular golfer stepped into the contentious world of politics , complaining to the press about Proposition 30, the state measure passed last year in California that raises the tax burden on wealthy individuals. Along with federal taxes, Mickelson said he will now be paying nearly 63% of his income in taxes. “I’m not going to jump the gun, but there are going to be some (changes),” Mickelson said a few days ago, hinting at a move out of California. “There are going to be some drastic changes for me because I happen to be in that zone that has been targeted both federally and by the state and… it doesn’t work for me right now.” The comments were mostly met with derision, considering Sports Illustrated listed the golfer as the second-highest paid athlete in 2012, raking in $60 million between PGA tour winnings and endorsements. The public wasn’t thrilled to hear a multi-millionaire whine about his taxes, something Mickelson recognized yesterday in a statement to Fox News: “Finances and taxes are a personal matter and I should not have made my opinions on them public. I certainly don’t have a definitive plan at this time, but like everyone else I want to make decisions that are best for my future and my family.”

Hulk Hogan is adding another line to his resume. The former wrestler/reality star/sex tape participant is set to open a restaurant in Tampa Bay this month. It introduce itself to the area via a New Year’s Eve blowout. “It’s going to be Jimmy Buffett’s [Margaritaville] times 10; Hooters times 10,” Hogan bragged to The Tampa Bay Times . “It’s a logical extension of the Hogan brand, with my image and likeness… In 36 years I’ve become so tangible to the public, and not just Americans. We have a chance to have an international draw.” Sort of like that Hulk Hogan sex tape . We hear it’s huge in Germany. Hogan said he will help run the establishment as a quasi general manager, comparing the gig to the one he’s best known for in the professional wrestling world. “I play a fake general manager on Impact Wrestling. But this is for real.”

Charlie Sheen decided to end the year with a controversial bang last night. The actor was the life of the party at a bar opening in Cabo when he jumped on stage to introduce iconic guitarist Slash, along with other big musical acts. For inexplicable reasons, however, Sheen screamed at the crowd: “How we doing? … Lying bunch of f**got a**holes, how we doing?” TMZ has the video of Sheen’s slur , along with two quotes from the actor. First, Sheen appears to make a sincere apology, telling the site: “I meant no ill will and intended to hurt no one and I apologize if I offended anyone.” Then, in classic Charlie Sheen fashion, he goes on to mock the incident, adding: “I meant to say maggot but I have a lisp.” Aside from helping Lindsay Lohan with her taxes, Sheen has remained relatively quiet and scandal-free over the past few months. But, hey, at least he didn’t beat any women while slamming homosexuals. We suppose that’s progress for the troubled star.

Rapper Fat Joe pleaded guilty Thursday to failing to pay taxes on nearly $3 million in income he earned over two years for concerts and music royalties. The artist, whose real name is Joseph Cartagena, was once a chart topper with several hits like the duet “What’s Luv” with R&B singer Ashanti. Cartagena entered the plea in federal court in Newark because some of the companies he earned money from are incorporated in New Jersey. The 42-year-old entered pleas to two counts covering years 2007 and 2008. His sentencing will take into consideration the government’s initial allegation that he failed to pay income taxes for years 2007 through 2010. Federal prosecutors said the total tax loss to the government was $718,038. Wearing a navy suit in court to plead guilty, Fat Joe looked fit and considerably slimmer than the former size that had earned him his rapper nickname. He has been public about efforts to shed weight after fellow rap stars died from obesity-related issues and has spoke to kids about health and fitness. In federal court Thursday, when asked by U.S. Magistrate Cathy Waldor if he understood the charges he was facing, he replied, “I super-understand it.” Cartagena’s lawyer, Jeffrey Lichtman, said outside court that his client “had already taken steps to resolve this situation” before he had been charged. He said the rapper hoped to pay back the taxes by his April 3 sentencing. The judge set bail at $250,000 and released Cartagena. He could face up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $200,000, plus penalties from the IRS.

BIG mistake buddy… Diners Call “Fat Girl” On Their Restaurant Bill Via Huffington Post When three friends finished their meal at a California restaurant, they did not expect to be insulted on the bill. That is exactly what happened to Christine Duran, Christina Huerta and Isabel Robles when they visited Chilly D’s Sports Lounge, part of the Cameo Club Casino, in Stockton, Calif., according to ABC affiliate News 10. When the three diners got their check they saw “fat girls” written on their bill. “I got the bill, and I was like, why does the receipt say, ‘fat girls?’” Duran told News 10. At first, her friends didn’t even believe her. “[Huerta] was like, ‘You’re lying,’ And I was like, ‘No, I’m serious. Look at it.’ She was like, ‘fat girls?’” When their server returned, the three girls questioned him about the “fat girls” label, but the waiter denied any wrongdoing, according to News 10. He said an employee named “Jeff,” whose name appears on the receipt, must have typed “fat girls” into the system to keep track of their bill. A manager went over to explain the “fat girls” check, but he “had like a smirk on his face, like it was funny but trying not to laugh,” Duran told ABC News. Instead of clearing all charges, he offered a discount of 25 percent and then a discount of 50 percent, but the women rejected the offers. What the hell is going on at these shady businesses nowadays?! Victoria’s Secret has apologized after the use of a Native American-style headdress by a model in its recent fashion show sparked outrage. Model Karlie Kloss (above) donned the headdress at the brand’s annual fashion show, and was instantly criticized for ignorance toward tribal culture and history . The company responded over the weekend, saying it was sorry to have upset anyone and wouldn’t include the outfit in the show’s TV broadcast next month. “We sincerely apologize as we absolutely had no intention to offend anyone,” VS said. Historically, headdresses are a symbol of respect, worn by Native American war chiefs and warriors. Pretty sure the opposite was conveyed here. Kloss walked onto the runway last week wearing the floor-length feathered headdress, leopard-print underwear and high heels, plus various accessories. Kloss herself Tweeted that she was “deeply sorry if what I wore during the VS Show offended anyone.” That would be plenty of people, but not everyone. Thousands commented about the outfit on the company’s Facebook page. Some praised Kloss’ attire as artistic and urged those offended to “get over it.” Several expressed appreciation to Victoria’s Secret for halting its marketing of the clothing, while others reached back in history to explain their feelings. “We have gone through the atrocities to survive and ensure our way of life continues,” Navajo Nation spokesman Erny Zah said in an interview Monday. “Any mockery, whether it’s Halloween, Victoria’s Secret – they are spitting on us with this. They are spitting on our culture, and it’s upsetting.” The Victoria’s Secret stir follows a string of similar incidents, most recently No Doubt’s cowboys-and-Indians-themed music video , which has been pulled.
