Witherspoon will receive this year’s Generation Award, previously bestowed upon superstars like Adam Sandler and last year’s recipient Sandra Bullock. “Reese Witherspoon is one of the most versatile and accomplished performers of her time,” MTV President Stephen Friedman said in a statement. “Our viewers admire her for taking risks and for the breathtaking range of her roles. Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner will present the clip live at Sunday’s show. By MTV News staff Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images Since film fans made “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” the most nominated film leading into the 2011 MTV Movie Awards , we had to return the favor with some “Twilight” goodies during the big show. “Twilight” leading lady Kristen Stewart and her main men, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, will be presenting an exclusive clip from the saga’s highly anticipated fourth film, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” during the awards show, airing live at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. For the die-hard “Twilight” fans who’ve been following all the news about “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” — for which we compiled this handy guide — the exclusive clip premiering during the Movie Awards will be the very first video from the film. Up until now, we’ve had to make do with production photos, teaser art and posters. MTV News recently caught up with Elizabeth Reaser, who plays Cullen matriarch Esme, to get her take on filming the two-part “Twilight” finale. “There was a lot of emotion,” she said during an MTV Sneak Peek Week screening of her latest movie, “The Art of Getting By.” “I mean, [for] months we had been through so much different weather craziness [in all different locations that] we were in denial of it the whole time.” She recalled saying goodbye to the epic five-movie saga while shooting the highly anticipated Edward/Bella wedding scene, even though her work on the film wasn’t quite over; she had to stick around a bit longer to finish up some shooting on the film. “Suddenly, we were on the dance floor at the wedding, and it was suddenly over,” she said. “It’s also 7 in the morning, and we had been shooting all night, so it was this weird, surreal experience. We were all in shock.” Stewart, Pattinson and Lautner will be in good company, when they grace the MTV stage. They join previously announced presenters and attendees, including Nicki Minaj, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Selena Gomez, Emma Stone, Cameron Diaz, Leighton Meester, Katie Cassidy, Shia LaBeouf, Ryan Reynolds and Josh Duhamel. “Eclipse” leads the pack of 2011 MTV Movie Awards nominees with eight nods, including Best Movie, Best Fight and Best Kiss. “Inception” snagged the second-most nominations (seven), followed by “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1,” which received six nods. ‘We actually filmed three videos in one day,’ Ross boasts to MTV News about busy stretch, which also included DJ Khaled’s ‘Welcome to My Hood.’ By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Rick Ross Photo: MTV News Since Rick Ross put together his new Maybach Music Group roster, the Bawse has been working overtime. Ross has been scooping up artists for his Warner Bros.-distributed MMG label, recording for the imprint’s first compilation ( Self Made, Vol.1 ) and filming music videos at a rapid pace. In an interview with MTV News, Ross spoke about his work ethic, boasting that he shot a trio of music videos within a 24-hour time span. Two of the clips — “Pandemonium,” featuring Ross’ new recruits Wale and Meek Mill, and “Play Your Part” — will appear on Self Made, Vol.1. “We actually filmed three videos in one day,” Ross said backstage at the New Orleans stop on Lil Wayne’s I Am Still Music Tour . “We filmed ‘Play Your Part’ and ‘Pandemonium.’ We actually filmed all the way until 7 a.m., until it was time to go shoot [DJ] Khaled’s ‘Welcome to My Hood’ .” For Rick, the inspiration behind “Pandemonium” was simple: “We started in the back, now we the MCs in the front, and that was the way that we all felt. You know, Meek Mill just being released from jail, his whole situation, his father being slain, just his whole story just [smelled] like triumph. Wale’s story and us all sitting in the room and us all believing in our abilities.” “Play Your Part” features Chester French frontman D.A. Wallach singing on the hook. “I sent him the track, and he put an incredible chorus on there and it was swagged out,” Ross said. “And when he came to the video, it was just the energy he brought. It was super cool.” Self Made, Vol.1 hits stores May 24. What do you think of Ross’ Maybach Music Group lineup? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Rick Ross (Hip-Hop)
‘They’re completely different Snow Whites, so I feel like I don’t have to choose one,’ he tells MTV News of co-stars’ upcoming projects. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Taylor Lautner Photo: MTV News Taylor Lautner is living a fairy tale — two of them, to be exact. Two of the 19-year-old actor’s co-stars have lined up separate “Snow White” projects — Kristen Stewart in Universal’s “Snow White and the Huntsman” and Lily Collins in Relativity Media’s “Snow White” — a casting quirk that had Lautner saying in a recent interview with MTV News, “It’s crazy!” So which project (and which actress) has Lautner’s allegiance? Unsurprisingly, both his “Twilight” co-star and his “Abduction” leading lady. “I’m lucky, because they’re completely different Snow Whites, so I feel like I don’t have to choose one,” he said. “They’re completely different stories, and the Snow Whites themselves are totally different.” Lautner’s not kidding. Collins’ version, co-starring Julia Roberts as the evil queen, will be directed by Tarsem Singh , who described his vision to us thusly: “It’s actually like if you looked at Gaudi’s architecture, based in England, done like a turn-of-the-century Russian film by an Indian guy.” Stewart’s project, “Snow White and the Huntsman,” stars Charlize Theron as the evil queen and is said to focus more heavily on action and to tweak the familiar tale so Snow White is on the run and protected by the Huntsman. Both flicks are slated to hit theaters next year. Meanwhile, Collins has also signed on to star in an adaptation of “City of Bones,” the first book in the best-selling young-adult series “The Mortal Instruments.” Lautner certainly has some experience with bringing wildly popular novels to the big screen, but he said there’s not much advice he can give her — because, as he told us, she doesn’t need any. “I don’t know if I need to give her advice,” Lautner said. “She’s going to be able to handle it just fine. I’m very excited.” While he may not dole out any tips, Collins learned a ton from Lautner during the “Abduction” shoot. “I would watch the way he deals with his fans. It’s incredible,” she told us in January. “We’d be shooting at nights where we finish at 7 in the morning, and one night, we had 600 fans in the middle of nowhere in Pittsburgh waiting outside, and it was probably almost 5 in the morning, and he went out and signed every single autograph. He was always there to be with his fans and to make sure they knew he appreciated them.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Abduction.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . By James Dinh Lady Gaga Photo: Getty Images Just a few weeks after the May 23 release of her highly anticipated new album, Born This Way, Lady Gaga will take the stage to perform at the MTV Video Music Aid Japan on June 25. According to a press release, Gaga is the first performer to be announced for the 10th annual MTV Video Music Awards Japan, which is being dubbed the Video Music Aid Japan this year in order to raise awareness about the recent natural disasters that hit the country and benefit the Japanese Red Cross. The international event will be hosted by Japanese pop sensation AKB48 and feature a string of performances from international, regional and Japanese artists. The broadcast will be a highlight of MTV Japan’s Music of Hope campaign, which is the channel’s multiplatform response to the tragic March 11 earthquake and tsunami. In addition to the usual award-show traditions, the program is expected to feature news about the artists and youths who have been impacted by the country’s natural disasters. MTV Video Music Aid Japan will broadcast live from the Makuhari Messe convention center near Tokyo on MTV Japan, MTV Korea, MTV China and MTV Southeast Asia. In addition, a special one-hour version of the event will air on MTV channels worldwide as an installment of the network’s weekly live music series. Mother Monster’s performance at the VMAJ is just another attempt for the pop superstar to assist in the Japan relief efforts. On the very same day that the earthquake hit, Lady Gaga announced that she had designed a special prayer wristband with all of the proceeds from sales going to benefit those affected by the disaster. After two days of sales, Gaga revealed that her fans had raised $250,000 for the victims, tweeting, “Monsters: in just 48 hrs you’ve raised a quarter of a million dollars for Japan Relief.” Are you looking forward to Lady Gaga’s Video Music Aid Japan performance? Earlier today, Steven Spielberg announced that Sally Field will star opposite Daniel Day-Lewis in Lincoln , the DreamWorks biopic of the 16th president of the United States. This is exciting news for everyone including Spielberg, who remarked, “[Field] has always been my first choice to portray all the fragility and complexity that was Mary Todd Lincoln.” Lest anyone doubt that Spielberg’s “Team Field” sentiment is authentic, let’s rewind the clock to four years ago, when the director was first championing the Oscar winner for the juicy role.
