Just as his “H.A.M.” collaboration with Kanye West was dropping on Facebook, news broke that the 41-year-old Brookynite has invested in the Brooklyn-based chicken wing restaurant Buffalo Boss, teaming up with his mother, Gloria, and sister, Andrea in the new venture. Keeping things within the family, the fast food joint is currently co-owned by the rapper’s cousin Jamar White. “Yes, it’s all true,” White told MTV News confirming the news. “Jay supports us in all we do, that’s my big cousin right there.” The eatery does more than dole out saucy wings, fries, salads and soft drinks. According to TMZ , Jay-Z and Buffalo Boss recently teamed up to reward exceptional students at a nearby middle school with free eats. (However, a glance at the Buffalo Boss menu doesn’t exactly bode well for children and adults looking for healthy options.) All good stuff, no doubt, but what many of you really want to know about his first major role outside the “Twilight” franchise is one thing: Just how much shirt-free, ab-proud time is the 18-year-old going to have onscreen? Hate to dash dreams, but — despite those tantalizing set pics that popped up on the Web last summer — the answer is: not much at all. “It’s not about that!” co-star Lily Collins laughed in a recent interview. “It’s about his acting skills in this one. I feel everyone is going to be surprised to see how much he’s grown. This movie is not about that aspect of him. It’s very, very, very minimal. He brings so much more than that. I feel people are going to be blown away.” Collins — who MTV News tapped as one of our 11 for ’11 and who, like Lautner, is about take on a wildly popular book franchise as the star of the “Mortal Instruments” series — told us she learned a ton from watching how the “Twilight” star interacted with his fans during the “Abduction” shoot. “I would watch the way he deals with his fans. It’s incredible,” she told us. “We’d be shooting at nights where we finish at 7 in the morning, and one night, we had 600 fans in the middle of nowhere in Pittsburgh waiting outside, and it was probably almost 5 in the morning, and he went out and signed every single autograph. In a new interview with TV Guide , the new girl in “the family” dishes on BFF Snooki, all of the drama, why her parents were all for her joining the show and more: Excerpts from Deena’s Q&A below … CLASS IN A GLASS : That’s Deena Nicole Cortese for you. On joining the cast : “I love the show and wanted to do it because I go down to the shore all the time, and I’m like 35 minutes from Seaside. When Snooks asked me to come down, I was like, ‘Yeah, let’s do this. I’m down.'” On being the new girl : “I was a little nervous, but I wanted to get to know everyone and I was excited. I was going to try to get to know everyone and be myself. I came in, they really opened their lives to me and it was awesome.” On her parents’ take : “They think it’s hysterical and they’re very supportive of me. I told them every single thing from back-to-front about what I did, and they’re still supportive. We’re a strong Italian family. They support me through thick or thin.” On the tension this season : “I think this season really brought everyone back together as a family. It was a really fun season , and we had such a good time. There’s so many huge things that happen this season. I think it tops the last one.” On getting sucked into the drama : “In the beginning I did, especially the first night, because I think when I came in with Snooki, Sammi didn’t know what to think about me. I think she was a little thrown off. [There] was a lot of tension.” On the men of Jersey Shore : “They look out for us rather than try and hook up with us. I was very close with Pauly. Our personalities are so much alike. We like to have a good time. Michael Jackson’s children watched him die, according to a prosecution witness in the preliminary hearing for his embattled physician, Dr. Conrad Murray. As Murray tried in vain to revive MJ after a drug overdose, his children Paris and Prince entered his bedroom, a former employee testified on Wednesday. “Paris screamed, ‘Daddy,’ and she started crying,” Alberto Alvarez, a logistics director for Jackson, recalled as Katherine and Janet Jackson sat in court. Paris, Blanket and Prince have been through a lot . Alvarez testified in the second day of a preliminary hearing in L.A. Superior Court on an involuntary manslaughter charge against Dr. Conrad Murray. Jackson feared being murdered , we learned yesterday, but Murray is not accused of anything like that. He didn’t mean for MJ to die, but is he liable? The judge will determine whether there’s enough evidence for a trial for the 57-year-old doctor, and it’s all but a formality that Murray will stand trial. According to Alvarez, when MJ’s children appeared that day, Murray shouted, “Get them out! Get them out! Don’t let them see their father like this.” At the time, Paris was 11 years old and Prince was 12. Jackson was on his back, his eyes and mouth open, as Murray gave chest compressions and attempted mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, Alvarez says. He was later declared dead at the hospital at age 50. It’s whether Murray was responsible for his passing away that is in question here, of course. Murray’s conduct that day was suspicious, and his expected defense – that Michael killed himself – is thin. You won’t hear that this week, though. At the preliminary hearing, the defense is likely to sit and watch the prosecution outline its case, rather than try to plead its own. There’s no point. It would be a losing battle now, so they are likely to gear up for trial after seeing what the D.A. has and plans on using to convict Conrad Murray.

Robert Pattinson may have found his next movie. Sources say the actor is nearing a deal to star in Cosmopolis , a big screen version of a novel by Don De Lillo. Pattinson would anchor the film as Eric Packer, a billionaire whose business practices make him the target of assassins. The story takes place over a busy day for Packer, who has sex with two women and shoots at least one man in the book. By Terri Schwartz Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart onstage at the People’s Choice Awards Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images It wasn’t until an hour and a half into Wednesday night’s (January 5) People’s Choice Awards that the beloved “Twilight Saga” trio — Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner — finally made their appearance at the awards show, which meant fans unfortunately never got to find out whether Stewart would walk down the sapphire carpet with Pattinson, her rumored beau . But while the show began with a shutout for the “Twilight” stars, they ended up winning some of the biggest awards of the night, just as they did in 2010 . Johnny Depp won Favorite Male Movie Star for the fifth time in a row, beating both Lautner and Pattinson for the honor. Still sporting his “The Tourist” haircut, the favorite actor thanked his fans for the “stupefying honor” because it “comes from the people who keep us all here.” Zac Efron also bested both Stewart and Pattinson (and his ex-girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens ) as Favorite Movie Star Under 25, another surprising shutout. “What an honor it is to be nominated among my contemporaries,” Efron acknowledged, and thanked the connection he has with fans for keeping him around. But where were the “Twilight Saga” fans, infamous for their skills that allow “Twilight” to continuously sweep fan-voted awards shows? Turns out they were focusing their attention on getting Stewart the win for Favorite Movie Actress. The big three finally made their appearance more than three-quarters of the way into the show when Stewart accepted her big award. (By the way, it was Lautner — not Pattinson — who walked her to the stage.) It was Stewart’s first time at the People’s Choice Awards, and in true KStew style, it was clear the “Twilight Saga” star was uncomfortable onstage. But she was sure to thank her fans, giving them a bit of a tease from the set of “Breaking Dawn.” “We’re shooting ‘Breaking Dawn’ right now. It’s going really well; it’s really fun,” she said during her acceptance speech. Spoiler alert! “I was a vampire this morning in Baton Rouge, so it’s really weird.” Since it took the trio so long to show up to the awards show, host Queen Latifah wasn’t going to let them off the hook so easily. They were seated front and center, and Latifah put them on the spot with a list of “questions” directed at their characters. Example: If a wolf ate a vampire, but the vampire wasn’t dead, could the vampire eat the werewolf from the inside out? The awkward smile on Lautner’s face was all the answer we needed. But the awkwardness was all worth it when Latifah mistook Pattinson’s description of the “posh” airplane that they flew on from Baton Rouge for “plush.” Oh, those silly Brits! And “The Twilight Saga” ended the show with a bang, winning Favorite Movie, Favorite Drama Movie and Favorite Onscreen Team, presented by Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman. Pattinson beat Lautner and Stewart to the microphone, and Lautner threw some faux punches at his onscreen enemy. “Taylor wanted to go first, but I wanted him to go last,” Pattinson joked, then let Lautner proceed. “I can’t believe this! You guys are unreal,” Lautner gushed. “It still amazes me. For movie number three, ‘Eclipse,’ already, you guys have gotten us here today, but you guys have also given us the opportunity to, as Kristen said, be filming ‘Breaking Dawn.’ “I can’t wait for you guys to see it,” he continued. “Mark my words: The best is yet to come.” Stewart took the stage after him, adding to her previous acceptance speech, “I just want to thank our producer Wyck [Godfrey]. Dude, thank you so much, and everybody at Summit of course. And the fans.” Last but not least, Pattinson took to the mic amid deafening screams from the crowd. He said he couldn’t hear what either of his co-stars said in their speeches, but “can guarantee they both wrote speeches.” His spur-of-the-moment speech was short and sweet, saying, “Thank you so much for the fun, People’s Choice. Thank you so much for everything.
