As anyone who’s listened to Taylor Swift’s “Welcome to New York” knows, the former breakup balladeer is rocking a more upbeat, poppy sound these days, but that doesn’t mean all is bright and sunny in Swifty Land. Taylor sat down for an interview with Esquire recently and she unexpectedly opened up about the dark (and occasionally scary) side of having millions of adoring fans. “I fought the idea of having security for a very long time, because I really value normalcy,” Swift says. “I like being able to take a drive by myself. Haven’t done that in six years.” “They have to be in a car behind me. Because just the sheer number of men we have in a file who have showed at my house, showed up at my mom’s house, threatened to either kill me, kidnap me, or marry me.” Needless to say, there’s a terrifying side to being one of the world’s most popular artists. Too bad she can’t just give these creeps the old, ” No, it’s Becky ,” excuse and be on her way. “This is the strange, sad part of my life that I try not to think about,” Taylor added. “I try to be lighthearted about it, because I don’t want to be scared.” Suddenly we have a new appreciation for why Taylor named her cat Olivia Benson . Duck Dynasty star Sadie Robertson has been making quite a name for herself on a different show this season, surging to the top tier on Dancing With the Stars. The 17-year-old high school student has had plenty of support from father Willie, uncles Jase and Jep, and newly-engaged brother John Luke Robertson . Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas – Dancing With the Stars Samba Last week, a duck call-inspired samba earned Sadie and pro partner Mark Ballas a nearly perfect score of 37 out of 40, putting her near the lead on Season 19. The routine, like everything in her life, was centered around family and faith. Sadie says her life has been turned upside down since Duck Dynasty debuted on A&E, and while it’s given her a lot of new opportunities, it has its drawbacks. “I was 14 and didn’t realize how big it was going to be,” she said of the last few years. “But there’s definitely been some bad things about being in the public eye.” “Everybody knows who you are [and] they’re looking for you to mess up,” she said. “My grandpa said some things that upset some people and the press came after him.” In that sense, family patriarch Phil Robertson casts a wide shadow. They ultimately didn’t, as Phil was reinstated and two new seasons have since aired (you can watch Duck Dynasty online to see all the 2014 installments). Taylor Swift is single, but the singer isn’t anxious to mingle. Not any time soon, at least, because she has two cats . She’s all set at the moment. Heck, Swift is rarely seen anywhere without Olivia Benson in her arms . So you can understand why she reacted in such shocked fashion during an appearance Friday on The Graham Norton Show, as comedian John Cleese dared to insult the beloved feline. John Cleese Insults Taylor Swift’s Cat! “Is that a proper cat? That’s the weirdest cat I’ve ever seen in my life,” Cleese remarked, saying it looked as if Olivia had an “accident” of some kind. Swift didn’t even know how to respond to Cleese’s diss, though the two did manage to patch things up as the conversation went… that is, until the inappropriate British actor decided to compare cats to women.
