Florida Teacher Gets 22 YEARS in Prison For Sex with Students

Jennifer Fichter, a 30-year-old Florida teacher, was sentenced to 22 years in jail for having sex dozens of times with three teenage students. One of the 17-year-olds got her pregnant, no less. “I hate what I have done,” Jennifer Fichter told the court in Polk County. “I wish I could go back and think about [the victims] before me. But I can’t.” “I can’t do that … If you hate me, I understand.” Hate wasn’t a word used by the judge, but he did call Fichter a predator and handed down the harsh sentence of more than two decades: “You’re going to have a long time to think about what you did. I trust that your faith is real, and you’ll have a long time to let your faith work.” “When you come out you’re a different person. It bothered me that there was references to that faith and yet there was this activity.” A former Central Florida Aerospace Academy teacher, Jennifer Fichter was arrested 15 months ago and pleaded guilty to 37 counts . Each sexual offense carries a maximum penalty of 15 years, so she could’ve been facing 500 years in prison if you look at it that way. At one point, Fichter became pregnant by one of her victims and had an abortion, she said in a phone call with that victim’s mother. “It hurts,” one mother told the court. “I saw myself losing my son before my very eyes and there was nothing I could do to reach him.” Fichter has 30 days to appeal her sentence.

North Carolina Teacher Resigns Over Backlash After Reading Gay Book To 3rd Grade Class

North Carolina Teacher Resigns After Reading Gay Book To Class Omar Currie and Meg Goodhand, respectively a teacher and vice principal of Efland-Cheeks Elementary School, have resigned over controversy surrounding a gay fairy tale that Currie read to third graders . Via The Grio : Currie read “King & King,” a story in which two princes fall in love and get married, after one of his students was called “gay” in a derogatory manner and was told that he was acting too much like a girl. Although the book had been upheld by a school review committee, Principal Kiley Brown told Currie that parents must receive a list of all books read, and that’s when things went downhill. Parent Brandy Davis and two other people filed formal complaints about the book, and Davis went on to appeal the ruling by the school review committee concerning the book. “I’m just disappointed,” Currie said on Monday. He also said that he would prepare remarks but was unsure if he would even speak. Currie has had five job interviews, all positive, including a few interviews for positions in Durham Public Schools. “It’s nice to be told by administrators that my actions were correct,” he said. “I still want to be very involved in the Efland community,” he continued, saying that he plans to be involved in tutoring and mentoring programs. Bilingual 4th Grade Teacher Arrested For Sexually Molesting Student Some parents learned Wednesday that a D.C. bilingual school teacher was charged for sexual abuse of a child . Via WUSA 9 : Giovanni Pena, 31, of Northwest, D.C.,was charged with second-degree sexual abuse of a child on Monday, Metropolitan Police Department officials said. Pena is a bilingual teacher at Oyster-Adams Bilingual School located in the 2000 block of 19th Street NW. Police say the Youth Investigations Division received information regarding an allegation of sexual abuse involving a child. He has been teaching fourth grade students at the school. According to the school’s website, Pena — who lives about a mile away from the Columbia Heights school — has been at Oyster-Adams since 2008 teaching second and third grades as well. DCPS provided the following statement on Wednesday: “The safety of our students is a top priority. As soon as we became aware of this situation, we acted promptly to remove the teacher from the school and fully cooperate with MPD in this investigation. We are focusing our attention on supporting our students and school community. As this is an active police investigation, any questions should be referred to MPD. “​ Wednesday, a diverse community of parents dropped off children at the school. Many of them heard for the first time about the charges against Pena. Patricia Catalan tells us her son was in Pena’s fourth grade class last year and he was a great teacher. Yasmina Castellanos also said he taught her son and she had nothing but good interactions with him. Pena is being held without bond, and is due back in court on Friday. Anyone who has information regarding similar offenses involving Mr. Pena is asked to call police at 202-727-9099. High School Teacher Shows 50 Shades of Grey In Class!

During the school year, I am a teacher.  And as most teachers know, students are constantly asking for positive reinforcement.  The millennial generation thrives off of rewards. In my class, a reward might mean getting out of class five minutes early.  But a recent “good behavior award,” took a different shape at a West Virginia high school. Students, who were determined to be praised for their hard work, convinced their teacher to show 50 Shades of Grey . The Hampshire High School teacher, who must live in a cave, claimed to not know what the film was about. Principal Jeff Woofter reported that the film was turned off after about 10 minutes when the assistant principal walked by and saw what the class was watching. Not only did this teacher eff up by showing big-budget, mainstream porn; movies of any kind are prohibited in the classroom. At this time, it is unclear if students or teacher will face any punishment. The first installment of 50 Shades opened this year on Valentine’s Day.  The dates for the next two sequels have been released for 2016 and 2017. Teacher Fined And Not Given Prison Time For Having Sex With Student Should this pedo teacher be in jail?? Via NOLA reports: Shelley Dufresne, the former Destrehan High School teacher who admitted in court that she had sex with an under-age student, posted a smiling selfie to her Instagram account just hours after pleading guilty, WVUE television reports. Her caption: “my mood today”. Dufresne, a 32-year-old Montz resident who is married and has three children, pleaded guilty to obscenity Thursday in 29th Judicial District Court in Hahnville. She admitted having sex last year with a 16-year-old student at home in Montz, avoiding prison time and sex offender offender registration but agreeing to 90 days’ mental health treatment and three years’ probation, and $1,000 fine. She is one of two former Destrehan High teachers, along with Rachel Respess, 24, who also are accused in Jefferson Parish of having sex with the same student at an Respess’ apartment in Kenner on Sept. 12. Prosecutors have not decided whether to charge the women in that case in 24th Judicial District Court. SMH!!!!!!

Mary Kay Letourneau, in a much-publicized sit-down with ABC News’ Barbara Walters last night, said she does not consider herself to be a sex offender. Mary Kay Letourneau, Vili Fualaau, Daughters The 53-year-old former teacher, who spent over seven years in prison for her affair with then-13-year-old student Vili Fualaau in 1996, is still with Fualaau. The pair have two teenage daughters and are about to celebrate their 10-year wedding anniversary together – a milestone few would have expected. “There is a story of us that has a life of its own, but it’s not our story,” Mary Kay Letourneau , who was a married mother of four before the tryst, said. Today, the grandmother and mother of six remains a registered sex offender. “Recently I said, ‘It’s been 10 years, why don’t I lift that?'” she told Walters. Letourneau said she’d like to teach again, but this makes it tough; she was also banned from visiting her sick teenage daughter in the hospital due of it. Her children with Fualaau – Audrey, 17, and Georgia, 16 – were born when Fualaau was barely in his teens, also pose challenges for the spouses. “When the girls get in trouble, I wouldn’t handle it they way she would,” Fualaau, 31, says, although he proudly notes that Mary Kay is “a very good mom.” “It will be a two-hour talk. The middle school instructor was suspended after he was caught on tape cussing out a class full of sixth graders and bizarrely referencing the size of his penis, officials said. “If you don’t give a f–k, then I don’t give a f–k,” the teacher said in the recording. A 12-year-old student recorded Monday’s seven-minute tirade and showed it to her mother. The outraged mom shared it with CBS DFW after she claimed the principal of Holmes Middle School refused to do anything.
