To the victor go the spoils The Miami Heat Visit The White House Via Huffington Post President Barack Obama honored the Miami Heat for winning the 2012 NBA Championship title after falling short just a year before. “Everybody doing their part, is what finally put the Heat over the top,” Obama said, as he welcomed the team to the White House Monday to celebrate their victory. The Heat defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder in five games in the NBA Finals last June. The president also recognized the franchise’s work off the court. He thanked them for supporting military service members at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Obama said one of the things he’s proudest of is that many of the team members_ including LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade_ “take their roles as fathers seriously.” “For all the young men out there who are looking up to them over time, for them to see somebody who cares about their kids and is there for them, day in, day out, that’s a good message to send,” Obama said. Said ‘Bron ‘Bron about his first championship trip to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave: “We’re in the White House right now, which is like, like `mama I made it,’” James said, as the audience laughed and cheered. Rosie O’Donnell welcomed a baby girl with wife Michelle Rounds, she announced today. “We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our daughter Dakota,” O’Donnell shared. Check out the snapshot of herself, Rounds, and their little bundle of joy below … “With love and thanks – AMEN,” she added, with no other details re: Dakota. Dakota is O’Donnell’s fifth child; the former talk show host also shares kids Parker, Chelsea, Blake, and Vivienne with ex-wife Kelli Carpenter. O’Donnell and Rounds announced their engagement in December 2011. They married six months later after Rounds was diagnosed with desmoid tumors, a rare, cancer-like disease. O’Donnell had a heart attack in 2012 as well. Both are on the mend now and hope to have a wedding in 2013. “When we are both well enough, [we] will finally have the wedding of our dreams surrounded by those we cherish,” the former View co-host blogged. “[We are] thankful for the love and support so many have given us.” Congratulations to the happy and growing family!

You can relax now, Miley Cyrus . We’ve all been had. In light of the Justin Bieber pot smoking scandal, a Twitter campaign titled “Cutting for Bieber” had allegedly cropped up, with fans expressing their disappointment in the singer by self-mutilating. Among other stars, Cyrus has spoken out against the troubling movement. But new reports confirm this trend was nothing but a hoax created by 4Chan , a social media site with a history of pranks. 4Chan is also responsible for a fake Morgan Freeman diatribe against the media, as well as the rumor in October that Bieber had cancer. So well played, 4Chan. Except for the part where you exploited a legitimate illness and spread the idea of self-injury as a method of expression.

With the Washington Redskins enjoying success for the first time in decades, there’s been talk in the nation’s capital of bringing the team’s home field back to D.C., as opposed to its current location in Maryland. But Mayor Vincent Gray has a condition if such a transfer were to take place: The team’s name will need to change. “I think it has become a lightning rod, and I would love to be able to sit down with the team… and see if a change should be made,” Gray said of the moniker many find offensive to Native Americans. “There’s a precedent for this, and I think there needs to be a dispassionate discussion about this, and do the right thing.” It’s true that many college mascots have acknowledged the insensitive nature of their mascots and made a change. Formerly Red Raiders, Colgate University athletes are now simply “Raiders.” But with fans of the squad arguing over the recent Robert Griffin III injury , do they really need another topic to debate? President Obama interrupted Monday Night Football to give a speech about the Newtown tragedies and it looks like not everyone in America appreciated it…. Northern Alabama Player Kicked Off Team For Racist Tweets Last night’s Sunday Night Football game between the San Francisco 49ers and New England Patriots was interrupted in the first quarter by President Barack Obama giving a speech at the Newtown memorial for victims of the Sandy Hook shooting. Via The Grio reports: Football fans did not appreciate the interruption and instead erupted in numerous racist and offensive tweets on Twitter. One Division II, University of North Alabama player, Bradley Patterson tweeted: “Take that ni**er off the tv, we wanna watch football!” Later in the evening, UNA Athletic Director Mark Linder tweeted that this player was no longer a part of the team. “Thx 2 everyone who brought the inappropriate tweet to our attention. @UNAAthletics does not condone. He is no longer a member of the team,” Linder tweeted. This is absolutely disgusting! The leader of our country gives a heartfelt speech to help comfort an entire nation and this idiot has the nerve to hurl a racial insult because he’s missing some football. Two Indianapolis Colts cheerleaders shaved their heads and went bald in solidarity with the team’s head coach Chuck Pagano , who has been battling leukemia. Colts Bald Cheerleaders Colts cheerleader Megan M. had her head shaved by Blue, the Colts’ mascot, during the team’s 20-13 win over the visiting Buffalo Bills this weekend. Shortly after the players went bald to show support for their coach, who lost his hair while undergoing treatment, Blue tweeted at the team’s cheerleaders. His challenge: Step up and go bald he could raise $10,000 for leukemia research. Megan accepted Blue’s challenge and #OperationShaveMegansHead began. With Megan’s help, big Blue raised $22,670, according to WTHITV. If nothing else, Chuck Pagano’s struggle has led to some inspiring moments. When it came time to hold up Megan’s end of the bargain , she had company. Fellow cheerleader Crystal Ann had decided to join her. Blue did the honors. Pretty awesome.
