The Portal and Portal Plus is a smart display device that could turn off potential users because it is always listening and always watching plus is connected to Facebook at all times. The smaller version of the Portal comes with a 10-inch 1280 x 800 display while the Portal Plus comes with a15-inch 1920 x 1080 pivoting display. Facebook’s goal with the introduction of both devices is to ” help you feel closer to the important people in your life and make video chats feel less like a call, and more like you’re actually in the same room.” Both models are powered by AI, Portal’s Smart Camera, and Smart Sound technology plus utilize voice control and Google’s smart assistant Alexa . You will be able to make video calls with friends on Facebook Messenger list and they the recipient of your calls don’t even need to have a Portal. Now for those who do still have security concerns, Facebook ensures they kept that issue in mind when making the Portal. You can disable the camera and microphone with the press of a single button, and if that isn’t enough for you, it comes with a small cover that will cover the camera’s lens. Facebook also states the device doesn’t listen to, view, or keep the contents of your Portal video calls. The company announced the launch of Amazon Music Unlimited and Prime Music in Mexico. The tech giant made the announcement today (Nov 7) that it will be bringing millions of songs and thousands of locally curated playlists and stations to the country. This latest move follows their national campaign launched back in August to announce their arrival in the streaming world. While Apple might not be as worried, this should send chills to Spotify due to the fact Amazon already has millions of subscribers, and this will only add to that number. Alongside Amazon Music, the company announced Alexa as well it’s popular Echo devices the Dot, Plus, Spot and Smart Plug will be arriving in Mexico as well. They will all come equipped with a new voice, knowledge of the locale, Mexico-oriented Spanish as well as the uber-popular Alexa assistant. V oting rights advocates were dealt several huge victories on Friday when courts rejected blatant attempts at suppressing mostly people of color from being able to cast ballots on Election Day. The rulings mean that thousands of people who had previously been deemed ineligible voters will now be able to register and go to the polls on Tuesday. In one key ruling on an obvious case of gerrymandering — or redrawing municipal boundaries along racial and political lines in order to impact elections — the North Carolina General Court of Justice, Superior Court Division decided in an injunction that “four districts in the North Carolina House of Representatives (Districts 36, 37, 40 and 41) violate the prohibition in the North Carolina Constitution on mid-decade redistricting,” the NAACP wrote in a press release. The NAACP has launched a number of similar lawsuits across the country trying to prevent voter suppression from taking place. “This is an important victory for the NAACP as we fight to ensure that communities of color have a full opportunity to elect representatives who will protect their interests in state legislatures across the country” Bradford M. Berry, NAACP General Counsel, said. The NAACP also teamed up with the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law to win an injunction against voting technology that prevented 53,000 mostly African-American residents from registering to vote in Georgia. The ruling against the software, called Exact Match, “will directly affect about 3,100 applications,” the NAACP said. Also in Georgia, where Stacey Abrams was vying to become the nation’s first Black woman governor, a judge granted an injunction that could allow about 3,000 people previously denied voter registration over citizenship questions the ability to vote. The case was centered on new U.S. citizens. The case was a direct referendum on Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp , who, in a clear conflict of interest, was overseeing the election while he’s waging his own political campaign for governor against Abrams. Of course, there were still voter suppression efforts hard at play, even as the two rulings were handed down Friday. From the president’s new racist ad to voter intimidation tactics to the more than 50,000 people still fighting to register to vote in Georgia, there was still much work to be done for voting rights advocates. Friday’s rulings were a brief respite from that harsh reality. “From the time of Reconstruction and beforehand, opponents of a true democracy have attempted to silence and suppress Black political power, and each time we’ve stood strong and fought back – today is one of those times,” NAACP North Carolina State President Rev. Dr. T. Last week, the New York Times reported that Android creator Andy Rubin — and other executives at the company — have engaged in sexual misconduct over the years. As a response, more than 200 employees will take part in the company-wide walkout Thursday to protest. The Times reported that Google gave Rubin a reported $90 million exit package in 2014, following an investigation into an allegation that he had coerced another employee to perform oral sex on him. That investigation reportedly found that allegation to be credible. One Google employer told Buzzfeed : Personally, I’m furious. I feel like there’s a pattern of powerful men getting away with awful behavior towards women at Google‚ or if they don’t get away with it, they get a slap on the wrist, or they get sent away with a golden parachute, like Andy Rubin. And it’s a leadership of mostly men making the decisions about what kind of consequences to give, or not give.” Organizers of the protest have already started presenting petitions and demanding stricter employee oversights to management. Some workers even left their positions at the company as way to protest. Rubin hasn’t spoken out about the walkout — but he still denies allegations of sexual misconduct. SMH.

She leads two printing companies one of which has an all-woman team of designers and printers who develop products for major tech companies. Her other venture—dubbed Made by a Black Woman—is an e-commerce digital platform that features products created by women of color. Inspired to take her mission of empowering Black women further, she launched Black Girl Ventures in 2016 as an avenue to align Black businesswomen with opportunities to secure capital. Through her business, she provides an array of different services that are all designed to help women elevate their businesses. She hosts networking events, boot camps, and pitch competitions where winners receive funds from the admission fees and land meetings with investors. In the future, she hopes to help Latinx women as well. “We realized on top of access to capital, Black and Brown women also want access to new networks,” Bell told Forbes. “In my opinion social capital is the move. Even if you get access to capital, if you don’t have the network or team or people around you to help you manage it or give you ideas on how to grow or scale, you can only get to a certain point.” Bell—who is a part of the LGBTQIA community—believes that there is power in inclusivity and wants BGV to be a safe space for people from all walks of life. Ever since BGV launched two years ago, she has helped 13 entrepreneurs fund their businesses and hopes to help many others bring their dreams to fruition. At this point, we think it’s safe to say that the addition of Bristol Palin to the cast of Teen Mom OG hasn’t panned out quite way producers expected. Bristol was supposed to be a massive ratings magnet, a fact that’s evidenced by the fact that despite being a newcomer, she already gets paid more than any of the other moms . But thus far, audiences have proven mostly indifferent to Palin. There are many theories as to why this might be: Perhaps too much of the show’s target demographic is too young to recall Bristol’s rise to fame during the 2012 presidential election. Or perhaps they simply don’t care. Maybe those who said there was no need to tinker with the cast or replace the fired Farrah Abraham were right all along. Or maybe the show has simply run its course and it’s time to call it quits. Whatever the case, producers are still hoping that the choice to add Bristol to the cast will eventually pan out — and they’re doing everything they can to make that happen. On this week’s episode, viewers were re-introduced to Palin’s first infamous baby daddy, Levi Johnston, and drama ensued immediately. If you’ve been watching the show, you know that Bristol has talked a mountain of trash about Levi in her first few episodes. Bristol has described her relationship with Levi as “rocky” and accused her ex of not being a “solid” father figure in the life of their 9-year-old son, Tripp. She even claimed that Levi never watched Tripp overnight until the boy was 4 years old. Now, Levi’s current wife, Sunny Johnston, is coming to her husband’s defense in a major way. Johnston says that while Bristol is technically correct in her claim that Tripp never spent the night in his first years, she claims Palin is leaving out one important detail: The boy never spent the night with Johnston because Palin allegedly wouldn’t let him. “I asked Levi, he said that right after Tripp was born for a while. And then he wasn’t allowed to have him overnight,” Sunny wrote on Instagram following this week’s episode. “Then when they were engaged when Tripp was one-and-a-half [he] had a few weeks of overnights,” she added. “As long as I’ve been in the picture: Levi was never allowed to have Tripp overnight until the court ordered it when he was around three despite trying to be there for all the years prior.” One fan asked Johnston if she gets along with Bristol, and Levi’s bride was refreshingly candid in her response: “Okay I’ve gotten this a lot so I’m going to answer,” Sunny wrote. “Honestly, I never know what to expect so that’s hard to answer. I just pray for Levi and her to always keep striving to have a better co-parenting relationship for Tripp. “It’s never her and I unless I’m alone with Tripp,” Johnston added. “Always Levi and her, and every once in a while through a group text about Tripp.” So it sounds like we may be in for serious conflict between Bristol and Sunny. Another package with an explosive device sent to CNN’s New York offices on Wednesday was addressed to former CIA Director John Brennan , according to city and local law enforcement officials. U PDATED: 3:23 p.m. EDT, Oct. 24, 2018: Congresswoman Maxine Waters has joined a growing list of prominent Democrats who have been targeted by suspected explosive devices this week. A package intended for a Congressional mail sorting facility in Maryland was addressed to Waters, according to several reports . NEWS: Suspicious package intercepted by Capitol Hill police was addressed to Democratic California congresswoman Maxine Waters, according to three sources. — Tara Palmeri (@tarapalmeri) October 24, 2018 A suspicious package was also found outside of the building where Democratic Senator Kamala Harris ‘ district office is in San Diego, California on Wednesday. The building, also including the San Diego Union-Tribune’s office, was evacuated. The package was later deemed safe, the Washington Examiner reported. A mysterious package was also sent to the office of Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo , he said on Wednesday (Oct. 24). The package was also later deemed safe and was not an explosive, CNN reported. Trump also publicly spoke about the pattern of suspicious packages at the White House, calling it “despicable” on Wednesday afternoon. Westchester County Police Department bomb squad technicians “proactively detonated” the device, and Soros, a frequent target of right-wing groups, was not home at the time. The FBI’s NY offices and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms have opened an investigation. A suspicious package addressed to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue was intercepted at an off-site facility, a source told Reuters . The White House denounced the attack on Obama and Clinton in a statement. “These terrorizing acts are despicable, and anyone responsible will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said. “The United States Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies are investigating and will take all appropriate actions to protect anyone threatened by these cowards.” The suspicious incidents targeting Clinton, Obama and Soros come roughly two weeks ahead of the Nov. 6 election, a polarizing event that will decide whether Republicans maintain Congressional control. Harry How/Getty Images LeBron James Lakers Debut Marred By Fight Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you probably already know that the Lakers home opener — LeBron’s debut with the team — was interrupted by a huge on court brawl during the 4th quarter. You can see most of this pretty clearly in the video but TMZ is reporting that the 4th quarter catch fade began when Lakers Center, Brandon Ingram, shoved Rockets Guard, James Harden. Ingram received a technical foul for his actions but soon after Houston PG, Chris Paul and Lakers PG Rajon Rondo started throwing punches at each other. You can see Chris Paul poking Rondo in the face with a finger before Rondo threw a punch but Chris Paul and several teammates say Rondo was to blame and he spit in Paul’s face. The NBA hasn’t yet doled out punishments for those involved but stay tuned because there are likely to be some suspensions.
