The Wait Ain’t Over: Atlanta’s Television Return Gets Delayed Once Again Due To Personal Matters

Source: VALERIE MACON / Getty Season 3 Of Atlanta Gets Delayed For A Second Time Fans were looking forward to the third season of FX’s Atlanta  dropping in 2019–but unfortunately, it looks like we’re all going to have to wait a little bit longer. According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter , John Landgraf (the chief at FX) announced at the Television Critics Association winter press tour that the series is currently behind schedule. This announcement also means that the show will not be back in time for the 2019 Emmy contention window. John announced, “I don’t know whether we’ll have Atlanta or not. The writers are back working right now, thank God.” He continued on to say, “As you might imagine, Donald Glover is sort of the king of all media, and he just has had an incredibly complicated life. He’s had personal things he’s had to deal with, from injuries to other things I’d rather not say publicly that just have to do not with his personal life but his extended family,” Landgraf said, explaining the delay. “So I think one of the things that is just a reality of television today is you have to wait. We have so many things now that don’t cycle back on a regular basis…From my standpoint, I wish for the fans as well as for us that we could get everything back on an annual basis but, again, you just have to make a decision about quantity over quality at a certain point — and we’re just erring on the side of quality.” This isn’t the first time we’re hearing of a delay for the next season of the beloved show. Castmember Zazie Beetz hinted at the delay while promoting her new movie  Wounds  at Sundance last week. “Ideally we would be shooting now; that’s not happening,” she told  IndieWire . Hopefully we won’t have to go all of 2019 without some new episodes of Atlanta , but it’s not looking good.

Issa Good Kid: All The Times 21 Savage Made Us Love Him

See the rest here:

Source: Prince Williams / Getty It’s been a pretty tough and confusing weekend for 21 Savage and anyone that’s a fan of his music. Over the weekend, the rapper was taken into custody for possible removal from the U.S. TMZ reported, “21 Savage was picked up by ICE early Sunday morning. He apparently entered the U.S. legally in 2005 but his visa expired and he reportedly is here illegally. He reportedly is being held for removal proceedings … this for being in the country illegally and for being a felon. He was convicted of drug charges in 2014.” Lots of folks have pointed out that the timing of 21’s arrest is an eyebrow raiser. Not only that, but isn’t ICE’s job capture immigrants who are involved in illegal activity? We all know that Savage, whose r eal name is Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph , has a past — but he’s pretty much been on a strait and narrow for several years and doing so much for the African-American community. There’s so much more to the young star than tattoos, guns and an expired visa. Hit the flip for all the times 21 Savage made us love him.

Saving Our Daughters on FOX STAR SET Black History Month

Source: Curtis B / Radio One (Friday, January 25th) The girls of the Ron Clark Academy (RCA) had an exciting, eye opening experience as they toured the set of the Fox television HIT show STAR, co-created by Lee Daniels. The 5th-7th graders that participated in the special field trip are part of the “Saving Our Daughter’s Cinderella” program, co-founded by actress and singer, Keke Palmer, who is also a guest star on STAR. Going on its second year of the STAR and Saving Our Daughters special set visits; this field trip was coordinated and hosted by Assistant to James E. Williams of Star Season 3, Taylor Williams. In addition to setting up a tour of the stages and sets, Q&A with some of the crew enlightened the girls of the team effort involved in the development of the show. Tasha Smith (Actress, Director) Mack Price (Production Assistant), Rachel Guilfoyle (Costumes Coordinator), Carrie Clever (Seamstress), Natalie Rhooms (Set Director), Zoey Wang (Art Coordinator )and Aamina Gant (Music Coordinator) spoke to and visited with the RCA Cinderellas about what it is like to work on a television series, their professions and the life choices they made that led them to STAR. Source: Curtis B / Radio One Source: Curtis B / Radio One “FOX Television & the STAR team’s openness to provide these opportunities are priceless. It’s takes a village to bring awareness of the possible careers in the arts and to encourage young girls to push through their challenges and pursue their dreams. Thank you again for sharing your gifts with us.” – Saving Our Daughters’ Co-Founder, Debbie Benjamin The girls had the pleasure of meeting everyone from wardrobe, production design, photography and set decoration. They were blessed and encouraged after talking in depth with Tasha Smith. To hear Tasha’s personal testimony of overcoming bullying, childhood adversities and drug abuse in her family; to evolve into an assertive, successful actress, director and producer left a lasting impression on the students. Watching the anticipation build as the girls were about to witness an actual rehearsal scene in the recording studio, their faces beamed with amazement, as actresses/singers Jude Demorest (Star) and Ryan Destiny (Alexandria) came out to encourage the girls, take photos and give hugs to each girl. Source: Curtis B / Radio One Source: Curtis B / Radio One Source: Curtis B / Radio One Source: Curtis B / Radio One What some of the RCA Cinderellas had to say on their STAR Visit; Ryann Gholston, 8th “My visit to the set of STAR was very informational. I am so grateful for the experience! When we arrived, we were given a tour of the set where we met a few workers who all had completely different but exciting jobs. These jobs included costume design, production assistant, and set design. It was really cool for me to see how much preparation goes behind filming just one scene. We even met Jude Demorest and Ryan Destiny, two of the stars of the show. We also met the director, the one and only Ms. Tasha Smith! I really appreciate how the Saving Our Cinderellas program continues to reach out to girls like me to expose us to new things we don’t get to do or see every day!” Sanaa Dais, 6th “It was an honor to have been chosen to view the set of Star. The experience was awesome and the I will never forget that memory. I met some terrific and talented individuals. How many people can say they’ve met Tasha Smith? Meeting the cast was great. Thank you for an awesome experience.” Joy Udoh, 6th “My Savings Our Cinderella’s experience has been nothing short of amazing. I loved getting to see the tv set and seeing what goes on behind the scenes. Being a young girl, it’s truly inspiring to watch other women take the lead in fields that you didn’t even know existed. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity and I absolutely loved it.” Haley Crawley, 7th “I was invited to the set of STAR and had the opportunity of meeting Jude (Star), Ryan (Alexandra), Taylor, and Mac. I loved the whole thing. I got to learn about the set. I learned about the roles of an assistant director, a production assistant, and a set designer. We also learned what happened in the design and art studio. My favorite part was the fashion designers. I love fashion. Thank you for the amazing experience.” Zoey Little, 6th “I really enjoyed being on the set of Star. I know a lot of people do not get the experience that I got to have, let alone meet two of the main characters, Star and Alexandra. My favorite part overall was going to the costume department where I got to ask questions about how many costumes one character has and about the budget. I really enjoyed this experience as it changed my outlook on how much work goes on behind the scenes in the filming industry.”

Cardi B & Offset: Partying in Atlanta After Reconciling!

Cardi B isn’t interested in anyone’s opinion or judgment when it comes to her and her husband’s rocky relationship. In fact, Cardi opens up to People in a candid interview about how “it’s a personal thing.” The “I like it” singer gets real about her relationship with rapper, Offset, while in Atlanta this past weekend discussing the pair’s breakup and now, what we’ve all been waiting for – a reconciliation?!  “I feel like we just are a very regular couple,” Cardi says when asked about all her social media speculations. There we have it. Cardi officially labeling the two again as “a couple.” “We just do regular things,” she tells People . “I just feel like: We’re famous… we’re really popular right now – I just don’t get the obsession, I feel like everything we do is a big deal.” And while she is completely correct, she does claim to try and dodge the spotlight when it comes to her family.  “My relationship – my marriage – is not for them,” says Cardi, who shares a 6-month-old daughter, Kulture, with Offset.  “It’s not for them.” Of course, she didn’t have a baby and a husband just to amuse us. But, we are still going to get to the bottom of how the mega-famous artist is dealing with her cheating husband.  And, we can now confirm that she is just taking things slow, they have a baby and that is the real focus. “I hang out with him, I talk to him every day and we do our thing”, she explains.  We all can probably agree that Offset is a piece-of-sh*t husband, but as for Cardi, she doesn’t care what we think and is dedicated to mending her family back together. “It’s just like – to make things perfect… it takes time. You know, f***ing and hanging out doesn’t mean that you guys are on like a perfect note, it takes time. And it’s a marriage and there’s a child involved and family involved.” The two secretly wed in September 2017 after Offset proposed to Cardi at a concert in Philadelphia. But, come December the couple had split due to a storm of rumors that Offset had been unfaithful .  Offset did admit to the cheating allegations in a lengthy Instagram post later in December:  “I was partaking in activity that I shouldn’t have been partaking in, and I apologize. You know what I’m saying? For breaking your heart, for breaking our promise, for breaking God’s promise and being a selfish, messed up husband.”  And to all of our surprise, Cardi did not pull a Bobbit or kill him in his sleep. Instead, she is working to forgive and forget the rapper’s behavior. “We working things out, baby,” she told reporters in New York City back in January.  And it seems as though things are going pretty well for the rapper duo, as the two were spotted partying this weekend  at The Big Game Weekend Party at Oak Nightclub in Atlanta following their conversation with People .  Cardi told People that the two were spending some quality time together in the place where Offset, a Georgia native, knows best. Kulture stayed home as Cardi thought the trip would be “too hectic” for her. “This is his city,” she tells People. “I don’t really know much about this city. I know this city’s almost like the Wild Wild West, so it’s just like I know that he protect me the most. He knows everything.” She is being very open and honest with her fans, even the ones who think she should be moving on.   She says, “it’s like, honey, I’m not like you – I’m famous. I gotta consider who I’m dating, I gotta make sure people will have me for me. And I have a kid… We are a package. It’s not just Cardi, it’s Cardi and Kulture. ”  But, after a successful Superbowl commercial and with the Grammys coming up in less than a week, she “doesn’t even care,” she says. “I got so much work.” We all know Cardi will steal the show with or without her man. But, will he be beside her on the red carpet? Or cheering her on from the audience? We shall wait and see.  View Slideshow: Offset Lavishes Cardi B with Ridiculously Expensive Christmas Gifts

NCIS Teases "Biggest Secret" Ever: Will Ziva Return?!?

Never say never in the television world, right? With that cliche in mind, NCIS fans are now preparing to say something else entirely: Holy $hit! No way!!!!!!! At one point during the horribly boring Super Bowl on Sunday night, CBS aired a promo for the next all-new episode of NCIS, which will air on Tuesday, February 12. “You thought her story was over,” a narrator says over shots of Cote De Pablo as Ziva, fueling speculating and a great many questions by adding: “Now the biggest NCIS secret of all will be revealed.” It's Ziva , one character also says, while Mark Harmon's lead agent intones: Don't tell me about Ziva! We think we speak for all fans of the long-running drama when we say: WAIT… WHAT?!? For the record, the official network tagline for this installment reads as follows: After a malnourished and confused 9-year-old is found hiding in a storage unit, NCIS reopens an old missing persons case when the girl is believed to be the daughter of a Navy recruit who disappeared 10 years ago. Also, Bishop discovers notes that Special Agent Ziva David kept on the case long after NCIS officially stopped investigating. De Pablo, of course, left the drama in 2013. She did so in memorable and seemingly concluding fashion after her character kissed Michael Weatherly's Tony, her colleague and love interest, on her way out. Two seasons later, when Weatherly then left the show, viewers learned Ziva had a daughter…and had died in an attack. It's worth noting, however, that her body was never found and/or shown on screen. “As far as my decision to leave, that's a personal thing, and I'd rather leave it at that,” De Pablo told TV Guide. She added: “The idea of leaving was not something I toyed around with for a long time. It was an overwhelmingly hard thing – at times terrifying. “Leaving NCIS was not planned, so there is no plan. If I were panicking now, it would defeat the purpose. “I need to get really excited about something, because for eight years I was really excited about this character. I don't want to start anything unless it's like that.” Check out the mysterious preview here and then follow our link to watch NCIS online if you need to catch up prior to this huge reveal.

Kevin Barnett, Comedian and Rel Co-Creator, Dies at 32

Kevin Barnett, a highly successful stand-up comedian who recently helped create the sitcom Rel, was found dead during a vacation last week in Mexico. He was 32 years old. The cause of Barnett’s death remains unknown at this time, but the tragic piece of news was confirmed via a Tweet from the official account of the Last Podcast Network, on which Barnett co-hosted the weekly series Roundtable of Gentlemen. “Dear Last Podcast family,” opens this sad message, which expounds with the awful details as follows: It’s with a heavy heart we inform you of the passing of Kevin Barnett. The joy he brought to our lives is the greatest gift we have ever received. Remind your friends you love them because you never know when you’ll see them again. We love you KB. We’ll share more details about what happened as they come in. Over the weekend, however, Barnett shared his last-ever social media post: a photo of himself on a sidewalk in Mexico, along with a caption that read: “In mexico. Bought myself a sweater. Been accused of appropriation several times. In my head I just gave a lady some money so I ain’t cold. Either way. Swag heavy. Mixtape comin.” Barnett wrote and contributed to a multitute of television shows and films, including Broad City, The Carmichael Show and The Heartbreak Kid. The sitcom Rel, which he co-created, premiered just a few months ago in September; it stars Get Out actor and comedian Lil Rel Howery and Sinbad. Barnett also had a few movies in the works as well, including one called The Wrong Missy with David Spade. “Our hearts are broken, as are those of everyone at Rel, at the news of Kevin Barnett’s passing. He was an incredibly funny, wildly talented man who had so much more to do and so many more stories to tell,” a rep for Twentieth Century Fox Television and Fox Entertainment said in a statement. It concluded: “We send our thoughts and prayers to his friends and family during this difficult time.” Comedy Central also paid tribute to Barnett after the awful news broke, writing: “Kevin Barnett was an incredible comedian and writer, contributing to Broad City, the stand-up community and beyond. He’ll be greatly missed.” Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s Chelsea Peretti, meanwhile, Tweeted, “i am so sad.” And Crashing‘s Jamie A. Lee added on Instagram: “A shocking, horrible loss. Kevin Barnett was a brilliant comedian and a great guy. RIP @fatboybarnett. This is so awful.” “I’m at a loss for words hearing about Kevin Barnett… We went to college together and both moved out to LA to pursue the dream,” actor and comedian King Bach wrote on Twitter, concluding: “Rest in paradise brother.” Then there was The Simpsons and Parks and Recreation producer Mike Scully, who worked on The Carmichael Show and said of Barnett: “Kevin Barnett was a great standup, but I knew him as a smart, funny, talented TV writer and just a really sweet guy who made the insanity of the late nights more fun. “Condolences to his family and friends. Can’t believe I’m writing this.” We concur. This is what Pete Davidson wrote of the tragedy: “The world lost a great one today. One of our comedy family members Kevin Barnett has tragically passed. I love Kevin. I’ve known him for nearly 10 years and he’s always been the sweetest and funniest. “Always had a smile on his face. Was one of the few that treated me like a comic even when I was just 16 years old. He always made me feel part of the group.” May Kevin Barnett rest in peace. A Broken Promise & Game 7 Of The 2016 NBA Finals Led This Young Man To Start A Mini-Revolution On Rikers Island

View original post here:

Source: Courtesy of Isiah (IG: @_callme_zay) Conversation surrounding criminal justice reform is gaining traction as world leaders like President Barack Obama and business moguls like Jay-Z call out widespread racial disparities in the prison system. Obama took a ton of important steps toward change, including being the first president to (very publicly) visit a prison and spend time with convicts, banning juvenile solitary confinement, and commuting a total of 1,175 sentences (330 in a single day). Jay-Z brought to light the devastating story of Kalief Browder , a young man from the Bronx who spent three terrible years in jail even though he was never convicted of a crime. After all he’d been through, Browder tragically committed suicide. And of course we can’t forget about Meek Mill getting politically active, as he calls out the injustices he, himself, has faced at the hands of the justice system. Meek’s stories give those who can’t relate to being locked up an insider’s look at how young black men are targeted and kept behind bars for extended periods of time. The movement is beginning to mobilize and more and more people are beginning to do their part to create the change we’d all like to see. Cue a young man from Harlem who’s sharing an incredible story of resistance this week. His name is Isiah , he’d been locked up on Rikers Island in 2016 when the warden broke a promise she’d made regarding game 7 in the NBA Finals and all hell broke loose. How he handled the escalating dispute and what he has to say about it today will give you chills. Isiah told Humans Of NY , “Every month in prison they had something called Inmate Council, where you get to meet with the prison administration and make suggestions. I volunteered to be the representative for my housing unit. And toward the end of the meeting, the warden asked if anyone had questions or concerns.” At the time, the Cleveland Cavaliers were going against the Golden State Warriors and the fellas just wanted to be able to tune in. “The NBA finals were going on at the time. So I raised my hand and asked: ‘If the Cavs force a game seven, can we keep the TV on past lock up time?’ And she agreed. She agreed in front of everyone,” Isiah explained. But things didn’t go as planned. “So when game seven came around, all of us were excited. We gathered around the TV in the dayroom to watch the game. But right as the second quarter was starting, the television clicked off. The CO came down and tried to kick everybody out. I told her the warden gave us permission, but she said it didn’t matter. And that’s when things began to go downhill. We refused to leave. The CO went behind a protected gate and pulled the silent alarm. We grabbed all the tables and chairs and stacked them up against the door. We covered the floor in shampoo and water. The security team came back with riot gear and huge cans of pepper spray, but we kept the door closed for over two hours. When they finally got inside, they were slipping all over the place. We just laid down on the floor and put our hands behind our back. I was given thirty days in solitary confinement. But I had to do the right thing,” he told Humans Of NY. Reflecting on his decision at the time, he added “Women are allowed to vote because some woman wanted to vote. The Civil Rights Movement started because Rosa Parks didn’t want to get out of her seat. And next time there’s a game seven of the NBA Finals, I bet they’re going to leave the TV on in Building Six at Rikers Island.” When Global Grind reached out for more details about that scary day, Isiah said since he was removed from the housing area he isn’t sure what the warden had to say for herself after the fact. However, he told us that at his Disciplinary Action meeting it’d been pretty obvious the guards turned off all the cameras at the time of the inmates’ sit-in. “When I asked them to show the cameras, they said they were ‘off’ and not working because they are new. But I know they weren’t telling the truth because they’d recently installed a camera they could control remotely. One night the camera was facing the front, the next morning the camera was facing the back of the housing area—and  Rikers cameras are recording constantly to precent inmate on inmate violence.” Isiah mentioned, “This is what they do when they want to get away with assaulting you.” Today, the Game Design major has one semester left at Hostos Community College before he graduates. He tells Global Grind, “All I want to do is show my peers that it’s never too late to turn your life around and get on the right path.” [ione_media_gallery src=”https://globalgrind.cassiuslife.com” id=”3882098″ overlay=”true”]
