Hope Solo Drug Test Failure Results in Warning; Soccer Star Still Eligible For Olympics

Star U.S. soccer goalie Hope Solo failed a drug test recently, but was let off with a warning after claiming she had no idea a prescription drug she took for “pre-menstrual purposes” contained a diuretic on the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency’s prohibited list . She will be eligible to compete in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. “Once informed of this fact, I immediately cooperated with USADA and shared with them everything they needed to properly conclude that I made an honest mistake, and the medication did not enhance my performance in any way,” Solo said. A sample of Solo’s urine collected June 15 tested positive for canrenone, a prohibited diuretic. But when Hope’s prescribed medication was found to contain canrenone in therapeutic doses, she was given a public warning, not a suspension. “As someone who believes in clean sport, I’m glad to have worked with USADA to resolve this matter and I look forward to representing my country at the 2012 Olympic Games in London,” the Dancing With the Stars alum said. Solo is one of 14 American athletes to receive a sanction under United States Olympic Committee’s anti-doping policies this year, according to the USADA. She is one of only three athletes to avoid suspension as a result. [Photo: WENN.com]

Jenelle Evans Cops to Positive Drug Test at Hearing

Teen Mom 2 wreck Jenelle Evans appeared in a North Carolina courtroom this morning and admitted that she tested positive in a drug test in July. The 21-year-old, who has been in and out of trouble with the law, told a judge that she did indeed fail the drug test, as reported, back on July 15. She has been tested every week since then, however, and hasn’t had another positive test … which is actually a fairly impressive feat for Jenelle. “Jenelle is doing really well,” her lawyer Dustin Sullivan said after today’s hearing . “She completed her parenting class and her anger management class.” She does not have custody of her young son Jace back yet, but when she’s not beating the crap out of other girls , she spends time with the tyke daily. After a wildly successful stint in a California rehab center, Jenelle tested positive for THC (found in marijuana) and she will remain on probation until April. Her trials and tribulations can be seen on MTV starting next Tuesday when the show that made her a star returns. Watch the Teen Mom Season 2 trailer !

DMX Moved To Mental-Health Unit Of Arizona Prison

Judge says rapper has ‘an undiagnosed mental condition.’ By Jayson Rodriguez DMX Photo: Paul Redmond/ WireImage DMX has been transferred to the mental-health unit of an Arizona prison facility, according to a report. The troubled rapper (born Earl Simmons) was arrested in November after a probation violation stemming from his most-recent supervised release. DMX served a short four-month sentence in Maricopa County Jail for a separate violation. The Yonkers, New York, native has had several run-ins with the law in that state, including six arrests. His latest violation occurred when X refused to undergo treatment after officials discovered he tested positive for cocaine in his system at least five times while he was on probation. The rapper was charged with felony probation violation and later pled guilty in a Phoenix courtroom. The judge handling his case warned the rapper that his mental state was contributing to his deviant behavior. Earlier this month, Judge Christine Mulleneaux described DMX as having “an undiagnosed mental condition.” The judge then ordered him back to prison for one year. According to the Phoenix New Times , just before the holidays, X was transferred to the Flamenco Mental Health Unit at Alhambra, a division of Arizona State Prison Complex. Records indicate the move occurred December 20, and the rapper will not be allowed visitors for 30 days. As of press time, it was unclear whether X will undergo any type of evaluation of if the former Ruff Ryders star is simply being observed while he goes through a detoxing period. Related Artists DMX

DMX Sentenced To One Year In Jail

Rapper pleaded guilty in Phoenix to probation violation. By Paul Cantor DMX Photo: Larry Busacca/ Getty Images DMX is heading back to jail for a year. On Thursday morning (December 16), the rapper (born Earl Simmons) pleaded guilty in a Phoenix courtroom to a felony probation violation. He was arrested on November 18 for not checking in with his probation officer, failing to submit to drug testing and refusing to undergo treatment. “I did make the effort that I could, and I appreciate any help you can give me,” Simmons told Judge Christine Mulleneaux, according to the Phoenix New Times. Judge Mulleneaux was not wholly sympathetic to X’s pleas for leniency, saying he tested positive for cocaine five times during his probation. She said he likely had an undiagnosed mental condition that he needs to take care of, and until he does so, he’d continue on his path of substance abuse. “Your criminal history goes back to 1988,” she said. “It’s going to continue if you don’t take care of your mental health.” According to The Associated Press, DMX told Phoenix station KSAZ-TV that he had been kicked out of a drug treatment program because he had a drink at a Scottsdale club during a performance. X had been on probation since July, having served four months of a six-month sentence handed down in March for failing a court-mandated drug test and testing positive for cocaine. Following his release in July, he began serving a 90-day sentence for a reckless driving charge in Los Angeles dating all the way back to 2002. In May of 2009, he was released from 90 days in a Phoenix jail on charges of drug possession, fraud and animal cruelty from 2008. Related Artists DMX

Brushing Teeth Prevents Heart Disease

We would like to share an interesting article by Trixie Webb of Gwabble about Brushing Teeth . A research suggests that people who fail to brush their teeth twice a day are putting themselves at risk of heart disease. It is acknowledge that the inflammation in the body even in the mouth and gums has a significant role in the accumulation of clogged arteries that can lead to a heart disease. However, this is the first time that researchers have looked at if the frequency of teeth brushing has any contributing factor on the risk of developing heart disease. The Scottish study which involves 11,000 adults backs previous research relating gum disease with heart problems. A charity also added that oral hygiene was one factor in good heart health. Over the eight year study that has been conducted, there were 555 cardiovascular events like heart attacks and 170 of which were fatal. Research discovered that those with worst oral hygiene had a 70% increased chance of having the condition as compared with those who brush their teeth twice a day. People with poor oral hygiene were also tested positive in blood samples for proteins which are suggestive of inflammation. According to senior cardiac nurse Judy O’Sullivan who works at British Heart Foundation, if you don’t brush your teeth, your mouth can become infected with bacteria that will cause an inflammation. Good personal hygiene is a basic element of a healthy lifestyle. Brushing Teeth Prevents Heart Disease is a post from: Daily World Buzz Continue reading
