Jeb Bush, Chris Christie And Rick Perry Avoid Talking Gun Control Or Race After Charleston Shooting It should come as little to no surprise that the Republican candidates for President are poorly equipped to deal with matters of race or gun violence. Via NY Daily News reports : Jeb Bush and Chris Christie mourned the murders in Charleston without blaming lax gun laws or discussing race Friday while addressing an audience of religious conservatives. And potential presidential candidate Rick Perry, the former Texas governor, referred to the murders as an “accident” — though his spokeswoman said he intended to say “incident.” Perry, in an interview with the conservative publication Newsmax, criticized President Obama and other liberals’ “”knee-jerk reaction of saying ‘if we can just take all the guns away this won’t happen.’” At the Faith & Freedom Coalition in Washington, Christie declared that the shootings were “depraved” and “unthinkable” before suggesting that tighter gun control could not have prevented the shootings. “Laws can’t change this, only the goodwill and the love of the American people can let those folks know that that act was unacceptable, disgraceful,” he said, calling on people to pray for the families of the dead. In his remarks, Bush said initially that he didn’t know what motivated Dylann Storm Roof. “”I don’t know what was on the mind or the heart of the man who committed these atrocious crimes,” Bush said, adding: “In times like these, in times of great national mourning, people of faith, all of us must come together.” He did not mention guns. Roof made it clear during his shooting spree on Wednesday that he was there to kill black people. In appearances Thursday at the convention, Sens. Marco Rubio, Rand Paul and Ted Cruz, other leading Republican presidential candidates, also avoided blaming guns. McKinney Cop Recorded Slamming Teen Girl Following Racially Charged Fight How can people be surprised that people of color have an intense dislike of police and authority figures when videos like this are appears almost daily? Via Mediaite At least one police officer has been put on leave in McKinney, Texas after video emerged of him pushing a bystander down and drawing his weapon. The incident occurred Friday when police responded to disturbance call at a community pool. According to the McKinney PD the officers were called because a number of “teens,” also commonly known as “youths,” from outside the neighborhood were using the pool. On its Facebook page the department said a “large crowd” refused to comply with their orders, at which point multiple backup units responded. At some point, according to the cops, a fight broke out between the teens. For the record “commonly known as” should only be used for animals and things, not people. These are children, not a rare species of wolves. However, bystanders told BuzzFeed that the teens had been invited there as part of an end-of-school party, and had guest passes. Some witnesses said nearby parents were upset at the presence of African Americans, presumably from another part of town, at the pool, and said it was actually adults who started the fight, telling the kids to go back to “Section 8 [public] housing.” “I think a bunch of white parents were angry that a bunch of black kids who don’t live in the neighborhood were in the pool,” said the 15-year-old who shot the video. “Everyone who was getting put on the ground was black, Mexican, Arabic. [The cop] didn’t even look at me. It was kind of like I was invisible.” In the video one officer is seen pushing a girl down onto a sidewalk and then drawing his firearm when others approached. “You hit me for no reason,” the girl is heard to yell.
