Isht is real in Egypt Judge Sentences 683 Ex-Egyptian President Supporters To Death Via HuffingtonPost A judge in Egypt on Monday sentenced to death 683 alleged supporters of the country’s ousted Islamist president, including the Muslim Brotherhood’s spiritual leader, the latest in mass trials that have drawn international condemnation and stunned rights groups. The same judge also upheld the death penalty for 37 of 529 defendants sentenced in a similar case in March, though he commuted the rest of the sentences to life imprisonment. Still, the 37 death sentences — which can be appealed in a higher court — remain an extraordinarily high number for Egypt, compared to the dramatic trial in the wake of the 1981 assassination of President Anwar Sadat, when only five people were sentenced to death and executed. Among those convicted and sentenced to death on Monday was Mohamed Badie, the Brotherhood’s spiritual guide. If his sentence is confirmed, it would make him the most senior Brotherhood figure sentenced to death since one of the group’s leading ideologues, Sayed Qutb, was sentenced and executed in 1966. In announcing the 683 death sentences for violence and the killing of policemen, Judge Said Youssef on Monday also said he was referring his ruling to the Grand Mufti, the nation’s top Islamic official — a requirement under Egyptian law, but one that is considered a formality. It does, however, give a window of opportunity for a judge to reverse an initial sentence. Parents Upset Over School Publicly Posting Failing Students’ Test Scores via The Black Home School According to some of the students and parents of children who are attending schools in the Spring Independent School District, Harris County, Texas, the officials of the schools are trying to embarrass students. The students who get embarrassed are the ones who don’t obtain passing grades. The schools humiliate the students by letting everyone know of their failure, reports My Fox Houston. Reportedly the DeKaney High School, which is part of the Spring ISD, based in the Gordon M. Anderson Leadership Center, put up a full list of students who failed this year’s test in the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). According to one of the mothers of a student at DeKaney, the school district has no right to publicly embarrass students in this fashion, because they should know what kind of emotional stress that would put on the failing students. The mother, who did not want to be named for fear of causing further embarrassment to her daughter, because she is on the failure list, continued that the school showed a marked lack of respect to place the list in such a prominent place, right near the school’s auditorium. The distraught mother continued “it actually outrages me…that even if it was a lapse in judgment on a person who found it necessary to post this that no one else came forward and identified how harmful this could be to those students.” She added that a more respectful way to let students know where to go to retake the exam, if they failed, would have been to use their student ID, instead of their full names. However, Spring ISD, do not believe that they have done anything wrong in posting the results of the TAKS test for all to see and were only following standard procedures to inform students when and where to retake the test. In a statement, Spring ISD said that they followed standard protocol when posting the results of the test and it was never their intention to cause embarrassment or shame. It continued that Spring ISD had not violated the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act by posting the results in a prominent place. However, Gabrielle Culling, a student at DeKaney, said that she believed that posting results of their failure in this manner, would make those students feel rather embarrassed to face up to their friends and make them think that they were not as smart as those who successfully passed the TAKS. Tim Zickuhr of Ice Road Truckers fame is charged with first degree kidnapping, extortion, and coercion after allegedly abducting a Las Vegas prostitute. He is also accused of forcing her to jump out of a second story window. According to the official police report, the prostitute goes by Snow White . She told the cops that Tim Zickuhr hired her to perform “services” on December 18 and in doing so, he gave her his ATM card to withdraw her payment. He accused the hooker of taking too much, though, and things got ugly. Snow claims Tim set up a meeting at his apartment the next day to settle the dispute, and when she arrived, he attacked, punching her in the face. He allegedly threatened to kill her if she didn’t return the “stolen” cash. If you believe her side, he didn’t stop too far short of that threat, tying her up with backpack straps, beating her senseless and pouring cold water on her. When he demanded a phone number of someone who could get him the money, Snow pulled a fast one and gave him Tim the number of a cop she knew. Zickuhr actually called it, claiming he was ready to kill her over $1,000. Tim and the police officer (unbeknownst to him) arranged a meeting, only Tim allegedly forced Snow White of out his second story window beforehand. The officer eventually met and arrested the Ice Road Truckers star. At that point, apparently Tim admitted it all – the phone calls, abusing the crap out of Snow White in the room and pushing her out of the window. Insane. According to NY Daily News: Authorities believe the Fort Hood gunman was involved in a verbal beef with another soldier before he opened fire with a .45-caliber pistol, killing three and wounding 16. There is a “strong possibility” that mentally unstable Army soldier Ivan Lopez argued with one or more soldiers prior to the Wednesday afternoon bloodshed, Lt. Gen. Mark Milley said at a Thursday news conference. Lopez ended the rampage by taking his own life after a military police officer squeezed off a shot at him, according to Milley. A Lopez pal in their native Puerto Rico told the newspaper El Nuevo Dia that the shooter was feuding with another soldier on the Texas military outpost. SMH. “It seems he had an argument with someone back at base,” the friend told the newspaper. “Seems that he had been robbed or something.” Lopez reportedly bought his weapon on March 1 at the Guns Galore store in Killeen, Texas According to El Nuevo Dio, Lopez was devastated by his mother’s death last year and furious at the Army for its initial refusal to let him attend her funeral. “I don’t have the details on that right now,” Milley said at the news conference. But he said authorities had “very strong evidence” of Lopez’s increasingly unstable mental condition in the weeks leading up to the triple homicide. You won’t believe this, but a Dallas man who sent a resume, job application, and photograph of his penis to a Texas company did not get the position. He is, however, in a precarious legal position as a result. He faces a misdemeanor charge for his trouble, as the recipients were apparently unamused. The man was hilariously applying for a position at Texas Workforce Solutions, a company devoted to, of all things, preparing clients for the workplace. When a 25-year-old employee of the organization received the guy’s application and unique letter of recommendation (so to speak), she promptly called police. They tracked his application, which had been sent from a personal email and issued the man a ticket for “obscene display or distribution,” a class C misdemeanor. A spokesperson for the Dallas Police Department confirmed this actually happened , and said that as far as he can tell, the man is still unemployed. “I think I know why he can’t find a job,” he reportedly told the Dallas Observer . Yeah.
