Man Murders Gentleman’s Club Manager According to CBS Chicago A Lake View man was charged with murder Thursday for allegedly fatally shooting a Far South Side gentleman’s club manager outside a sportscar after an early Sunday fender bender on the Near North Side. Angelo Bennett, 24, of the 4300 block of North Ashland Avenue, was charged with one count each of first-degree murder, aggravated battery / discharge of a firearm and attempted first-degree murder, police said. Bennett is accused of killing Charles Jones, the manager of a Far South Side gentleman’s club, and wounding a woman inside the sports car he was driving during an early Sunday shooting in the Goose Island area. The shooting started about 2:50 a.m., after a 2005 Buick LaCrosse sideswiped a Maserati in the 1000 block of North Branch Street on the Near North Side, police said. The driver of the Maserati, 42-year-old gentleman’s club manager Charles Jones, was shot dead, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Jones was a manager of The Factory Chicago, a gentleman’s club in the 12000 block of South Doty Avenue, a police source said. The club posted on its Twitter account Sunday morning, “God called his soldier home … R.I.P. Charles Jones.” Jones had pulled over after the crash and got out of the sports car to talk to the driver of the Buick, police said. The driver of the Buick and a passenger then exited the car, walked over to another vehicle and came back to the Maserati, police said. One of them then opened fire on Jones and a 44-year-old woman inside the Maserati. Jones was shot in the head and a 44-year-old woman in the passenger’s seat was struck in the back or hip, authorities said. Jones was declared dead at 3:33 a.m. at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where the woman was taken in “stable” condition, authorities said. Jones was driving a car with Texas license plates, but apparently lived on the Near North Side, a police source said. However, the medical examiner’s office listed his home address as Miami, Fla. Bennett is scheduled to appear in bond court Friday, police said. Black men stay getting caught up in a n**** moment.

Houston Police Shut Down Kanye West Screening of "New Slaves"

Last week, Kanye West debuted his music video for “New Slaves” by projecting it across the fronts of buildings around the world. But while Paris, Berlin and Chicago all agreed to be in on the rapper’s latest act, Houston apparently had a problem with whatever West had planned for Friday night at the Rothko Chapel. Local reports confirm that authorities pulled up to that location – after West announced the gathering via Twitter hours before – and threatened to arrest all attendees for trespassing. The crowd soon dispersed once it became clear that no video would be shown. Kanye West – “New Slaves” (Music Video) West’s new album, “Yeezus,” drops on June 18. Will he dare mess with Texas in promotion of it? Stay tuned!

Texas Shooting Spree Leaves Two Dead, Five Injured

A gunman went on a shooting spree in central Texas early yesterday morning, authorities now confirm, leaving five people injured and one dead before being killed himself in a shootout with police. One of the wounded was a Concho County sheriff. The unnamed 23-year North Carolina resident was tracked by nine state and local agencies across two counties for nearly two hours, opening fire from his pickup truck and hitting random cars along the way. He was eventually killed along a highway north of Eden by a state trooper and a game warden. Upon approaching his corpse, law enforcement officials noted that he was armed an assault-style rifle, a handgun and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. No other details were released, but investigators say only they are reviewing “multiple crime scenes.”

GOP Congressman: Women Should Be Forced To Birth Brain Dead Fetuses A current Republican-backed bill that has been circulating on The Hill recently gained even more opposition at a hearing to discuss the bills’ proposal to make abortion performed after 20 weeks, including those performed because of pre-diagnosed fetal abnormalities, illegal in Washington, D.C. via Think Progress At a congressional committee hearing to discuss a proposed measure to criminalize abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, Texas lawmaker Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) told a woman who made the difficult choice to terminate a non-viable pregnancy that she should have carried the fetus to term anyway — even though an MRI had already revealed that he was missing a large part of his brain and didn’t have much chance of survival. On Thursday, Christy Zink testified in opposition to H.R. 1797, a 20-week abortion ban that anti-abortion representatives of Congress keep attempting to impose upon the women in the nation’s capital. Abortion opponents claim that 20-week bans are necessary to prevent “fetal pain.” But in her testimony, Zink pointed out it’s misleading to suggest that this abortion restriction would serve this purpose, since forcing her to carry her pregnancy to term would have actually caused her unborn son considerable pain. Gohmert responded: “Ms. Zink, having my great sympathy and empathy both. I still come back wondering, shouldn’t we wait, like that couple did, and see if the child can survive before we decide to rip him apart? So. These are ethical issues, they’re moral issues, they’re difficult issues, and the parents should certainly be consulted. But it just seems like, it’s a more educated decision if the child is in front of you to make those decisions.” It doesn’t get much more heartless than to stand in a woman’s face and tell her what she should have done to save her unborn child that she’s more than likely still grieving over. The Boy Scouts of America have voted to allow gay Scouts to join the ranks. According to multiple media sources, the scouting organization decided, by a 61-38 vote, to eliminate sexual orientation as youth membership criterion. Under the new ruling, gay Scout leaders are still prohibited, however. The Boy Scouts of America’s National Council’s decision to ease a long-standing ban and allow openly gay boys came amid a firestorm of controversy. One that likely won’t end with this particular vote, either. The Scout leaders who voted during the annual meeting in Texas accepted the proposal, but it was far from unanimous, and may not please either side. Already, critics say they went too far … or not far enough. Some conservative churches that sponsor Scout units wanted to continue excluding gays, in some cases threatening to defect if the ban were lifted. More liberal Scout leaders, while supporting the proposal to accept gay youth , have made clear they want the ban on gay adults lifted as well. Severe Tornado Warning Issued In Oklahoma via CNN Shawnee, Oklahoma (CNN) — A tornado was on the ground near Oklahoma City on Monday afternoon, moving toward populated areas. The National Weather Service issued a rare tornado emergency for the Oklahoma City metropolitan area, meaning that significant and widespread damage and fatalities are likely. Video from CNN affiliates showed a funnel cloud stretching from the sky to the ground, kicking up debris. More than 171,000 people could be in the path of the storm. The severe weather comes after tornadoes and powerful storms ripped through Oklahoma and the Midwest earlier Monday and on Sunday. Forecasters had warned that the destructive weather, which killed at least two people, wasn’t over. “Today could be potentially as dangerous as yesterday,” CNN meteorologist Indra Petersons said Monday morning, pointing to a wide swath of the country spanning from Texas to Michigan. “We’re talking about 500,000 square miles under the gun for severe weather.” Story still developing…

Again with children shooting children . 8-Year-Old Boy Shoots Friend With Rifle According to Raw Story A 5-year-old boy in Denton, Texas was reportedly in critical condition on Saturday after an accidental shooting involving an 8-year-old friend. KXAS-TV reported that the two boys were alone in a bedroom when the 8-year-old found a .22-caliber rifle and pointed it at the younger boy. Police said the older boy then accidentally shot his friend in the left side of his head. Two adults, including the 5-year-old boy’s grandfather, and a teenager were also inside the home at the time of the shooting. The younger boy was first taken to a local medical facility, then transported by air to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. KTVT-TV reported that he was on a ventilator as of Saturday evening. “It’s a very tragic accident, especially the day before Mother’s Day,” said Denton Police spokesperson Orlando Hinojosa. “Education is the most important thing about firearm safety. Just make sure your children know, if you do have weapons in the house, where they’re at, and for them not to be reachable.” This incident is the third shooting involving children in Texas this week, and the second involving a .22-caliber rifle. On Tuesday, Houston officials said a 5-year-old boy was handling one when he accidentally shot his 7-year-old brother while the two were taking a bath. An execution in Texas took an odd and eerie turn Thursday night when Richard Cobb was asked for his final words. The 29-year old – convicted of capital murder 11 yeas ago for the killing of a man in a field, following a convenience store robbery – initially told onlookers: “Life is death, death is life. I hope that someday this absurdity that humanity has come to will come to an end. Life is too short. I hope anyone that has negative energy towards me will resolve that. “Life is too short to harbor feelings of hatred and anger. That’s it, warden.” But that wasn’t it. Just prior to the lethal injection taking effect, Cobb raised his head off the pillow and added: “Wow! That is great. That is awesome! Thank you, warden! Thank you (expletive) warden!” Cobb’s head then fell back on the pillow, his neck twisted to the side and he remained that way until a doctor pronounced him dead. Among those who witnessed the execution were the father, stepmother and stepbrother of Cobb’s victim.

Johnny Manziel Heisman Photo: Real or Fake Blunt?

Johnny Manziel puts the high in Heisman, according to a photo making the rounds. The Texas A&M quarterback was photographed kissing college football’s famous trophy this past weekend in Vegas … with the Heisman holding a fat blunt. 2 Chainz would be proud … but is the photo in question even real? Manziel says it is 100 percent fake. He just tweeted: “ABSOLUTELY PHOTOSHOPPED. People are always out to get me … sorry for kissing my trophy.” The pic does sort of look bogus, but then again, Manziel parties hard and posts photos of it on Instagram (remember the casino pic ?) so who knows.
