Fellow student charged with murder in the death of Pearland, Texas teenager

PEARLAND, Texas – A Pearland student is facing murder charges in the death of an 18-year-old classmate who went missing Tuesday afternoon. Police said Hermilo Vildo Moralez, 19, was identified as a person of interest in the disappearance of Josh Wilkerson Tuesday after officers noticed Moralez loitering in the area of Wilkerson’s abandoned vehicle. Wilkerson was last seen at his high school, Pearland ISD’s PACE Center, around noon on Tuesday. His parents reported him missing after finding his car abandoned at a shopping center in the 5000 block of W. Broadway. Police said they found Wilkerson’s shoes and backpack in a dumpster near his vehicle. When they initially questioned Moralez at the shopping center, investigators said he falsely identified himself and refused to give his address. According to court documents, Moralez told them he knew Wilkerson from school, and he’d seen him earlier that day. Once his true identity was discovered, Moralez was taken into custody and charged with failure to identify himself. Investigators, along with dozens of volunteers and members of Texas EquuSearch, launched a search effort for Wilkerson Tuesday afternoon. As their investigation progressed, police said Moralez agreed to cooperate with search-and-rescue activities. While walking with detectives through a field Wednesday afternoon, investigators said Moralez, who was handcuffed at the time, tried to pull a detective’s weapon from his holster. Moralez was immediately restrained and returned to the city jail. He was then charged with attempting to take a weapon from a peace officer. Wilkerson’s body was found in a field near FM 518 and FM 521 around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. According to court documents, Moralez told investigators that Wilkerson had given him a ride home from school Tuesday and made a pass at him. Moralez said he pushed Wilkerson off, and the two began to fight near the back patio of his father’s home. Moralez told police that during the fight, he grabbed a wooden rod and hit Wilkerson with it several times. He said when he got up off the ground, Wilkerson didn’t move. Investigators said Moralez then partially burned the body before dumping it in the field. When police found Wilkerson’s body, they noted that the teen’s hands and feet were bound, according to court documents. Investigators said they went back to the scene of the crime and found a large amount of blood on the patio and a bloody wooden rod in a nearby field. Moralez was charged with murder Thursday and was being held without bond. He is also awaiting trial on an unrelated harassment charge. added by: edbr

GLOBAL POLITICAL AWAKENING: DA Now Sending Deputies to SF Airport to Investigate Felony Groping

http://globalpoliticalawakening.blogspot.com/2010/11/da-now-sending-deputies-to-… Video and audio of Alex’s interview will be posted here shortly. Appearing on the Alex Jones Show today, incoming chief deputy DA of San Mateo Steve Wagstaffe said his office will prosecute TSA employees who engage in lewd and lascivious behavior while conducting Homeland Security mandated patdowns at the San Francisco International Airport in San Mateo County. “The case would be reviewed and if we could prove the elements of it, that it was inappropriately done with a sexual or lewd intent, that person would be prosecuted,” Wagstaffe told the Berman Post on Tuesday. Wagstaffe told Alex Jones that county police will be sent to into the San Francisco International Airport. If they witness TSA employees engaged in criminal conduct, they will make arrests and the DA’s office will prosecute. Sexual battery in Mateo County is a felony if the molestation occurs beneath clothing and makes contact with skin and a misdemeanor if the touching occurs outside clothing. The new government mandated hands-on searches are used for passengers who find naked body inappropriate, when something suspicious appears in screening, or randomly. They can take two minutes per passenger and involve sliding of the hands along the length of the body, along thighs and near the groin and breasts, according to the Associated Press. In addition, a district attorney in the county south of San Mateo, Santa Clara, told Wagstaffe his office will also prosecute TSA employees for inappropriate sexual behavior at the San Jose International Airport. Since the new search procedures went into effect, the web has exploded in opposition to naked body scanners and intrusive patdowns. Reports posted by the The Drudge Report, Infowars.com, and Prison Planet.com have gone viral on the internet and forced the mainstream corporate media to cover the issue. “Nationwide outrage against the TSA is not only bringing to light new cases of airport abuse, it’s throwing fresh attention on previous incidents that have been going on for years,” Paul Joseph Watson wrote on Wednesday. Watson notes several lawsuits initiated against the TSA, including one connected to a 2008 incident at the Corpus Christi airport where the TSA exposed a young woman’s breasts. Coverage of TSA groping and public outrage has resulted in airports around the country reconsidering the procedures. Earlier today, Orlando Sanford International Airport decided to opt out from TSA screening. Larry Dale, the director of the Sanford Airport Authority in Florida, said he will send a letter requesting to opt out from TSA screening, and instead the airport will choose one of the five approved private screening companies to take over, according to central Florida’s WDBO. “The outcry is huge,” Texas Republican Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison told the TSA administrator, John Pistole, at a Capitol Hill hearing yesterday. “I know that you’re aware of it. But we’ve got to see some action.” “I’m not going to change those policies,” Pistole promised. added by: GLOBALPOLITICAL

Undercover Video Shows Alleged Abuse at Egg Farm | Farm Had Eggs on Top of Corpses | Video

Humane Society: Undercover video shows alleged abuse at egg farm From Eric Fiegel, CNN Senior Producer November 17, 2010 7:48 p.m. EST The Humane Society says its undercover video shows a dead bird as eggs roll by inches away on a conveyer belt. STORY HIGHLIGHTS * The Humane Society releases a video it says shows animal abuse at an egg farm * The undercover video was shot at a Texas farm * The company, Cal-Maine, says it has been a leader in animal welfare * Cal-Maine is the largest egg producer in the United States – Washington (CNN) — A group that protects the welfare of animals has released an undercover video it claims shows animal abuse at a Texas farm operated by the largest egg producer in the United States. The Humane Society of the United States says one of its investigators worked at the Cal-Maine farm in Waelder, Texas, for almost a month this fall and documented multiple abuses and food-safety violations. The video shows dead birds, birds stuck in their cages, overcrowding and what appears to be hens covered in feces. At one point the video shows a dead bird as eggs roll by just inches away on a conveyer belt. The short, edited video was shown at a news conference on Wednesday by the Humane Society's president and CEO, Wayne Pacelle. “Our latest farm animal investigation documents inhumane treatment of laying hens and conditions that threaten food safety,” Pacelle said from the group's headquarters in Washington. Pacell told reporters that Cal-Maine, based in Jackson, Mississippi, was unaware of the investigation and that the video was being made public for the first time. Pacell said he didn't know if the giant egg company had seen the video. 'Farm had eggs on top of corpses' Cal-Maine responded to the allegations with a statement on its website. “Cal-Maine Foods has been a leader in accepting and implementing animal welfare measures. All of the Company's facilities are operated in full compliance with existing environmental, health and safety laws and regulations and permits. Each employee involved in the care and handling of our hens is required to review, sign and comply with our Company code of conduct regarding the ethical treatment of hens which requires employees to report any possible violations,” the statement said. The egg industry has taken a beating of late. Just this summer over half a billion eggs were recalled after a salmonella outbreak was traced to an Iowa farm. Cal-Maine is no stranger to recalls. It recalled 288,000 eggs earlier this month when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration informed the company that eggs from one of its Ohio plants tested positive for Salmonella enteritidis. Salmonella, which is generally contracted from contaminated poultry, meat, eggs, or water, affects the intestinal tract. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service, chickens can pass the bacteria to eggs because the eggs leave hens through the same passageway as feces. Alternatively, bacteria in the hen's ovary or oviduct can get to the egg before the shell forms around it, FSIS said. Cal-Maine says it sold over 778 million eggs in 2009, which represents 18 percent of the United States market. According to the companies website, “Cal-Maine has an industry-leading record in food safety with all of its 35 processing plants independently verified as reaching the highest level of safety by the Safe Quality Food Institute.” Over 70 billion eggs are produced a year in the United States, and the Humane Society would like to see the large egg farms change their ways “Time and again, we've found that these massive facilities caging hundreds of thousands of animals do not properly care for the birds … It's time for the egg industry to embrace cage-free housing systems and move away from battery cage confinement methods,” Pacelle said. Battery cage systems allow many birds to be housed in one facility but critics claim it's dangerous and cruel to the animals. The Humane Society would like to see cage-free housing but so far only 5 percent of eggs produced in the U.S. use this method, according to Pacelle. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration implemented new rules in July for large egg producers. These mandates include cleaning poultry houses that test positive for salmonella, rodent control, refrigeration of eggs during storage and transportation and buying chicks and young hens only from suppliers who monitor for Salmonella bacteria. The USDA says that as many as 79,000 illnesses and 30 deaths due to consumption of eggs contaminated with the bacterium Salmonella enteritidis may be avoided each year with these new measures in place. added by: EthicalVegan

Less than an hour ago, we reported that Eva Longoria and Tony Parker were splitting after three years of marriage, and that Tony filed for divorce in Texas. Now her rep says it’s completely false! Two clerks at the Bexar County Courthouse in Texas told TMZ the case was filed and sealed by a family law judge, but Eva’s rep says Tony did not file.
