The Bachelor Promo: Chris Soules The Bachelor strikes a unique balance on TV, with its utterly ridiculous premise, epically cheesy cliches and outrageous displays of behavior from contestants. All of that makes it a fun show to watch, of course, and the show layers all of these facets with enough humor and inside jokes to balance out the absurdity. While it’s impossible to take what you see seriously, there remains enough genuine emotion and intrigue to keep it from becoming a total joke, as well. Combine all that together and what you have is one of the longest-running and most successful franchises on network TV, with no end in sight either. In Chris Soules , ABC has again found the whole package, and is packaging it accordingly as the unintentional comedy the show has become in this teaser. Soules, 32, was rejected by Andi Dorfman on The Bachelorette this summer, but not after leaving Andi (and more than a few fans) swooning for weeks. News, Janel Parrish (best known as Mona on the aforementioned ABC Family hit) is headed to Dancing with the Stars . She’ll be joined on the new season by Olympian Lolo Jones, the site also confirms, along with Antonio Sabato Jr., Jessie James Decker and maybe both Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray from The Bachelorette . Brant Daugherty, also of Pretty Little Liars fame, competed on the 17th season of Dancing with the Stars, while Jones joins a long list of Olympians who have appeared on the show, including last season’s winner Meryl Davis. The full cast for the new season will be revealed on Good Morning America on September 4, but we already know that Julianne Hough will be back on the program… … as a judge! The telling picture on Chris’ Instagram page shows the Soules Man with Bachelorette buddy Cody Sattler rocking shirts exclaiming “America Needs Farmers.” While clenching a rose in their teeth for good measure. This after The Bachelor spoilers guru Reality Steve leaked the news, or at least that it was official (we’ve all strongly believed it was Chris for awhile). Hard to see this as anything but a subtle confirmation that he’s more than ready to dole out the roses to 25 lucky ladies come January on ABC. That or he and Cody are just really passionate about agriculture and its role in American life. Which is entirely plausible, but still. This is your Bachelor . No, the photo was not captioned “I’m The Bachelor,” and we don’t expect to hear him say it in those words until the end of Bachelor in Paradise . However, it seemed like there was no risk involved in Justin’s latest attempt to do some good in the world. The Biebs facetimed recently with Malala Yousafzai, a 17-year-old Pakistani who was shot by a Taliban assassin in 2012 as a result of her efforts to make it safe for Pakistani girls to receive an education. Bieber posted the above photo of his unlikely chat session, and the Internet, as it is wont to do, went ape dookie: “Like he even knew who she was before his PR team told him,” wrote one commenter. “Jesus of all the celebs more worthy of her time what has that poor girl done to get landed with that little sh-t?” wrote another. Another (hilariously) added: “Malala take his money girl. You are probably going to do more good with his money than he ever will in a lifetime.” While there’s certainly some truth to be found in all of those quotes,it should be noted that Malala is said to be a fan of Bieber’s (unlike Anne Frank), and Pakistan is one of the countries where he still has a huge following in her age group. An unnamed woman in South Carolina called the authorities this week because her 15-year old son was acting totally normal. According to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Tuesday afternoon because a mother told them her two-year old daughter “turned on the TV and porn was on.” She then found her son in his bedroom and figured he had been watching the naked action, heard her arrive home and quickly booked it upstairs. “[The mom] requested that a report be done to document … her son’s behavior and due to her daughter being exposed to porn,” the police report reads, as the mother told authorities she had been having many other difficulties with her teenage child for awhile. Lt. Kevin Bobo, however, says the sheriff’s office did not make an arrest or issue a citation because “I don’t know of any South Carolina law that was broken,” he told The Huffington Post. Earlier this week, a man in Florida dialed 911 because a cop took a long time writing his ticket . Would Bobo consider this an equally unexpected reason to phone the police? “Is it unusual for a momma to call the police on teenagers looking at porn? In honor of Throwback Thursday, The Bachelorette star Andi Dorfman shared a snapshot of her cuddling with fiancé Josh Murray the day after the show. “#tbt Day after we got engaged @joshmurray!!” Dorfman wrote. For Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray, #tbt isn’t throwing it back very far. The duo got engaged May 9 (and are looking at getting married May 9 next year). There’s little doubt, however, that she made the right choice in Josh, a former baseball player turned financial services rep who, like Andi, lives in Atlanta. Though the couple look completely and blissfully relaxed in the picture, Dorfman made Murray sweat before finally revealing her feelings for the frontrunner. Josh had to beat some serious competition (rumors say producers are considering Chris Soules and Nick Viall as The Bachelor ), as well has his nerves. “In the middle of my proposal, I stopped to allow her to gather her words. I assumed she was finally going to tell me she loved me, but it didn’t start out like that!” Murray joked. He gathered himself eventually, and she said yes, a thousand times yes.
