Lauren Bushnell: Ben Higgins Was a Disaster I Should Have Seen Coming

It’s been a little over a year since Lauren Bushnell and Ben Higgins broke up . While Ben left The Bachelor: Winter Games in tears not too long ago, Lauren is opening up about what it was really like leading up to and after her engagement to him. In particular, she’s revealing more than ever about her misgivings about their one-season spin-off. Speaking on Reality Steve ‘s latest podcast , Lauren Bushnell describes exactly what it’s like in the hours leading up to the filming of a The   Bachelor finale. “There’s so much doubt in your mind.” It makes sense. When you’re part of the final three, it must all become so real. A fun reality opportunity to get your 15 minutes of fame could set the course of your entire life. “And I remember waking up that morning and I kind of had an idea that I was possibly going to get engaged and I remember having so much anxiety about it.” That is very natural. “Looking back, I don’t know if that was my gut being like, wait, timing-wise, this is too rushed or what.” Anxiety is a mysterious mistress who comes to us for good reason … and for no reason at all. “But I remember being really anxious that morning to the point where like I kind of snapped at my producer, which I had never done.” Oh, yikes! “We were super-close and good friends.” She says that she needed some isolation during which to psych herself up for going on camera and for the man who had told her “I love you” to very possibly propose. “I remember locking myself in the bathroom and being so overwhelmed and anxious.” She wonders if she subconsciously realized that it would not end well. “Now looking back, I wonder if it was my gut being like, this isn’t the right timing. You guys need more time.” Or maybe she just had a case of the jitters. “I don’t know. Who knows?” And speaking of Lauren’s reality career and anxiety, remember her short-lived spin-off with Ben? Lauren & Ben: Happily Ever After? “Obviously we had lots of talks and by no means was my arm twisted to force me to do anything.” That said … she has always said that embarking on yet another reality series doomed them , even though it was not the only issue. “At the end of the day, I made my own decision.” Remember, they moved to Denver — where Ben had a job, friends, and family. Lauren had … nothing. Not even time with her fiance, thanks to the constant presence of cameras. “But I remember initially the show was supposed to be about Ben running for office.” Oh boy. “He wanted to get into politics.” This was not how Lauren had seen her life going at all. “And not only did I not want to do a reality show, but I also really didn’t want my life to be a politician’s fiancée or wife or whatever.” Remember how, just a few days after their breakup, Ben Higgins broke his silence and talked about their breakup? Lauren sure does. “I just don’t think you should ever use or let anyone around you use a breakup or a tough situation or actual personal feelings or personal life to promote something or benefit off something or profit off something.” Ben used that to garner interest for his radio show. “It just makes me feel uncomfortable…” Very understandable. Especially since doing so allowed Ben to define the story in people’s minds. “I was automatically kind of the bad guy and he was kind of the victim so that was a hard pill to swallow.” That sounds so unfair. “But at the end of the day, I’m glad I kept true to who I was…” Lauren has obviously opened up about their life together — and what went wrong. But she took her time. More than Ben did, anyway. “I just don’t think I’d necessarily talk about those things right away.” Lauren also addresses whether, in some alternate timeline in which Ben proposed to JoJo Fletcher instead of to her, she would have accepted the role of leading lady on The Bachelorette . “That’s such a hard question. I don’t know.” That’s very honest. “Honestly, I think I’ve realized this especially as I’ve gotten older, I do not like all eyes on me.” But that doesn’t necessarily mean that she would have realized that at the time, right? “I don’t like all the attention to be on me. I would feel really weird having 20 guys competing for my attention and I think I would really, really struggle with that.” Ah, yes, every beautiful woman’s nightmare. (We tease — we totally understand her discomfort) View Slideshow: 33 Hottest Women of The Bachelor: Who’s #1?

Garrett Yrigoyen Apologizes For Instagram Scandal: I’m SUPER Sorry I Got Caught!

Not every suitor on The Bachelorette is a prince. Sometimes, as you know if you follow The Bachelorette Spoilers , creeps make their way onto the show. Recently uncovered screencaps of Garrett Yrigoyen’s horrifying social media activity has a lot of the Bachelor Nation decrying him as a bigot. Now, Garrett is issuing an apology. Is it good enough? Garrett Yrigoyen had “liked” a series of images on Instagram. Among them were images mocking immigrants, mocking trans women, fat-shaming women, and promoting conspiracy theories about survivors of the Parkland shooting. Now that he’s been caught, Garrett took to social media to post an apology. “To those who I have hurt and offended: This is all new to me.” That’s not an apology, but it could be the start of one. “I went on the Bachelorette for the adventure and possibility of falling in love, not fame.” That sounds an awful lot like he’s sorry that his activity was exposed, right? “I did not know what to expect once the show aired.” He does apologize, after a fashion. “I am sorry to those who I offended and I also take full responsibly for my ‘likes’ on Instagram that were hurtful and offensive.” While some would have appreciated phrasing that doesn’t appear to cast blame on those who were offended, he did say that he is sorry. “garrett_yrigs12 was my former Instagram handle and I decided to take it down and start fresh.” His new handle is gy_yrigoyen. He says that he remade his Instagram, giving himself a social media blank slate, because: “I have learned an extremely valuable lesson and am taking steps to grow, become more educated, and be a better version of myself.” He then says that this has been a wake-up call. “I am not perfect, and I will never be anywhere close, but now I will always be more informed and aware of what I am liking and supporting, not just on Instagram, but in life.” Well, it’s good that he’s thinking about it, at least. “I never realized the power behind a mindless tap on Instagram and how it bears so much weight on people’s lives.” He again seems to be blaming the people impacted by his activity rather than himself, but perhaps this is simply how he writes. (We all have peculiarities in our writing styles) “I did not mean any harm by any of it.” He says that simply because he enjoys memes about unabashed cruelty towards entire demographics of people does not mean that he’s a bad person. “My Instagram ‘likes’ were not a true reflection of me and my morals.” Furthermore, it sounds like Garrett did not enjoy people referring to him as a bigot. “I am not the negative labels people are associating me with.” He claims that people who know him in person don’t see him that way. “For those who do know me, I am a sincere, genuine, loving, light-hearted, open-minded, and non-judgemental individual.” He prefers to describe himself as affable. “I like to make new friends with anyone I meet and want everyone to find their happiness …” He thinks that others should take his experience to heart when they are on social media. “Let my mistakes be a lesson for those who mindlessly double tap images, memes, and videos on any social media content that could be many things including hurtful, degrading, and dehumanizing.” Though she is noted for her left-leaning views, Becca Kufrin defended Garrett in the wake of his scandal. “I want viewers to be open to everyone, and I want them to go through this season with me and watch my love story unfold with all of these men.” Last season had a racist suitor. We suppose that it’s no surprise that this season seems to have an everything-ist. “I did things in the past that I’m sure wasn’t the best thing, but I just want people to stay open-minded to everyone.” Either Becca is just very nice (she is), or she’s going out of her way to back up Garrett. “I can’t fault on anyone for what they believe and who’s to say that anyone is truly what they believe in if they just double tap.” Doesn’t that depend upon what they believe? There’s a difference between having a stance on immigration and laughing at the idea of a brown-skinned child being tossed over a wall. “I can’t speak to that because that’s just not me. I am a strong woman and I do believe in certain things, but again, that’s what’s so great about our country — everyone is entitled to their own opinions.” Garrett’s story of his social media scandal being a wake-up call that led him to rethink things and become a better person is nothing short of incredible. But some fans took the comments to suggest that it is literally incredible. As in in -credible, not credible. The posts that he seemed to enjoy so much transcend political opinions and, as bloggers such as Reality Steve noted, cross the lines of what is considered basic human decency. One of the worst posts that he “liked” labeled the survivors of the February 14 Parkland shooting as “crisis actors.” It has not even been four months.  He would have had to have made a total personality turnaround in a very short time. Has becoming famous and being held responsible for his abhorrent opinions made Garrett into a better human being overnight? Or has he simply become embarrassed that he was exposed? Meredith Phillips, Former Bachelorette Star, Says She Was Drugged and Assaulted on Season 2

Meredith Phillips, the star of ABC’s Bachelorette back in 2004, said this week on a podcast that she was drugged and sexually assaulted by a crew member on the set of this long-running ABC reality show. It’s a damning and troubling accusation. Per Reality Blured,  Phillips made this allegation while speaking to Steve Carbone (aka Reality Steve) in response to a question about the most challenging aspect of production. “Well, besides being always really tired and some of the producers were – how do I say this? Helpful but not helpful, in terms of trying to make me relax,” Phillips replied, somewhat mysteriously. She then elaborated: “Normally, I wouldn’t talk about this, but I’m going to tell you because it’s bothered me for years. “And I know another friend of mine who was working on the show felt the same experience I did, about getting roofied and in a hot tub and kind of accosted.” Wait… what? Roofied? As in: someone drugged Phillips and took advantage of her? Yes, she says. The allegedly awful deed was done by “a masseuse that a producer hired to come into my room and to give me a massage,” says Phillips. The ex-reality star says she assumed the pill this person gave her was an “aspirin or something to loosen up my back.” But… “It definltey wasn’t that, that’s for sure. The last thing I remember was she got naked and she was in the tub with me, and rubbing my back and rubbing areas probably she shouldn’t have. “And then I was put in bed. I woke up naked. Don’t remember much.” Yikes. That’s extremely disturbing to hear. Phillips, whose season of The Bachelorette was filmed in 2003 and aired in early 2004, said that the experience was “hard for me to talk about because I think I’ve put it somewhere else in my brain.” She was rejected by Bob Guiney on The Bachelor Season 4, finishing as the third runner-up, prior to starring as The Bachelorette and selecting Ian McKee as her winning suitior. The couple broke up in February of 2005. Thinking back on this horrifying incident, Phillips said once whatever she had taken kicked in, “I literally couldn’t even move my body, so I have no idea what the pill was, at all. “All I know is that I was told that, ‘This will make you feel better.'” ABC is yet to address this charge, but we’d expect the network to make a statement at some point. Why didn’t she leave the series after this happened? There was “definitely a part of me” that wanted to, she acknowledges, “but I am also the kind of person that finishes what she starts… “It is a huge deal. I have worked through it.” The story has come out just days before Becca Kufrin debuts as The Bachelorette on Season 14. View Slideshow: The Bachelorette Season 14: Who Are Becca’s Men?

Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham Announce Wedding Date! Location!

Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham are here to steal Becca Kufrin’s thunder. Once again. With Becca set to debut as The Bachelorette this coming Monday, Arie and Lauren went out of their way on Wednesday morning to upstage their nemesis and make a major announcement… The controversial couple has announced its wedding date! And its wedding location! (We’re mostly kidding about the whole nemesis thing, but Arie did dump Becca on national television after The Bachelor finale and then propose to Lauren on the After the Rose special that same night.) “We are very excited to tell you guys that we have booked a venue,” Burnham said on The View today. “We’re getting married in Hawaii on January 12th next year!” Arie then provided a few more details: “It’s in Maui – it’s at Haiku Mill which has this beautiful, old world feel with a lot of vines and greenery. “It’s not your typical beach wedding. And it’s a private wedding, so not on TV – just a close group of friends. Probably 100 guests.” Wow. We’re actually surprised by this last part of Arie’s statement. Based on the way he and Lauren have acted and a few things they’ve said, we simply assumed the stars would get married on television. (Then again, we also assume they won’t even make it to the altar because, come on, does any couple who supposedly fell in love on The Bachelor?) “We’re just really happy with each other and we vibe well together,” Lauren said. “We’re best friends, so we’re just ready for that next step.” She even said they would take this marital step “tomorrow” if they could, but there’s too much to plan for that to be realistic. Arie, of course, proposed to Kufrin to wrap up his season as The Bachelor. Two months later, he broke up with her… while network cameras rolled. He then asked for Lauren’s hand in marriage, stunning viewers who had witnessed the Becca proposal just an hour or so earlier in real time on their TV. “It was a big risk to do what I did and I know that it wasn’t a popular decision. But it was a decision I had to make for myself. … I knew that Lauren was the person I was supposed to be with,” Luyendyk Jr. said of the moment. He continued: “I never watched the finale, so we don’t really know how that breakup looked on TV. But breakups are hard, and I think that everyone handles it in a different way. “They say it was unedited, but it was edited. You’re not in control of the editing room and you can’t really control what they show.” No one out there blames Arie if his heart told him to go with Lauren instead of Becca. But Luyendyk has shaded Kufrin here and there for some reason and he could have chosen to end their engagement in private, as opposed to in front of millions of people. However, don’t expect Arie or Lauren to apologize for how they ended up here. “Our relationship is so unique and it’s nothing that I’ve ever had before,” Burnham said, concluding today: “So the fact that he was willing to take that risk and all of America hating him to be with me, that means a lot to me.” View Slideshow: The Bachelor Veterans Blast Arie, ABC for Cruel Finale Break-Up

Becca Kufrin as The Bachelorette: First Promo Pic!

After getting her heart shattered into a gajillion pieces on national television, Becca Kufrin wants the world to know that she’s back. With vengeance. The scorned winner of The Bachelor Season 22,  Kufrin was dumped by Arie Luyendyk Jr. mere weeks after he proposed to her on the show’s emotional finale. It was a stunning and horrific development for the franchise, but fans at least had their concerns over Becca eased a little bit upon learning that she had been chosen as the next Bachelorette. Her journey to happiness (we really hope!) gets underway on May 28at 8/7c, with host Chris Harrison teasing Kufrin’s season on Twitter this week via her very first promotional photo. It features Becca in a beautiful gold gown, a red rose in hand… and a straightforward tagline plastered across the front. Let’s Do The Damn Thing . It’s pretty clear Kufrin is not messing around, isn’t it? This is a woman ready to find love on her terms for once, and she doesn’t plan on letting anyone stand in her way. The slogan seems to has become somewhat of a mantra for Kufrin, who actually used it when she was announced as the show’s lead back in March. “Words can’t express everything I’m feeling tonight, but I’m so beyond grateful for the love, support and well-wishes,” Kufrin wrote on Instagram alongside a slideshow of images from After the Final Rose. She then added: “I’m beyond excited for this next chapter of my journey and to have shared the start of that all with you tonight. “Now we’re doing the damn thing.” Yes you are, Becca. Kufrin handled her very public embarrassment about as well as anyone could possibly expect. She really only called out Arie one time, shortly after he tried to claim that he dumped her in front of ABC cameras specifically because he wanted to turn her into a sympathetic figure and, therefore, prompt the network to make her The Bachelorette. That was a crock of nonsense. “I don’t think he ever expected me to be [the Bachelorette], or how everything played out,” Becca said in response to this assertion. And that was basically it. Becca has had a chance to slam the living heck out of Arie and has constantly chosen to mostly take the high road. She isn’t looking for attention in this manner, a source recently told Entertainment Tonight. She’s really just looking for a loving husband. “She’s not one of those people who went on the show for Instagram followers,” the insider told this outlet, adding of the 28-year old Minnesota native: “She’s got a killer job, she’s a good person and she really wants to find somebody.” We sincerely hope she does. Based on a recent set of The Bachelorette spoilers , we have a clearer idea of who this somebody could be. And we also know he will come from the following pool of suitors. Get to know them now: View Slideshow: The Bachelorette Suitors: Meet Becca Kufrin’s Men!

The Bachelorette Spoilers: Who Made Becca’s Final Six?!

Filming for the upcoming season is still underway, but  The Bachelorette spoilers  have already begun to reveal details of Becca Kufrin’s journey. With another month to go until the season premiere, the beautiful brunette has narrowed her list of suitors to six. And we know which ones! Thanks to a little luck, and mostly Reality Steve – who else – we are all over The Bachelorette spoilers almost as they happen these days. The man is a god, we’re telling you. According to Steve’s Twitter , Becca’s final six men are in the Bahamas, where the final dates before her hometown visits take place.  Obviously, he’s been wrong before, and you never really know the full story until the show airs, but this is likely accurate. Very accurate. Without further ado, let’s get to it: Kufrin’s top six bachelors are: Blake Horstmann, Colton Underwood, Garrett Yrigoyen, Jason Tartick, Leo Dottavio, and Wills. Guess Steve doesn’t have his last name yet. Hey, 11/12 names isn’t bad. Indeed, the Bachelorette and Bachelor spoilers guru hasn’t released much about Wills, so his life story may just be harder to hunt down. In any case, the rose ceremony – if everything follows the franchise’s typical order of things – should send two of the six packing. Meanwhile, Becca will pack up her things and travel to the hometowns of the final four men, followed by three fantasy overnight dates. There, Chris Harrison will invite Becca to the Fantasy Suite … with each of the three lucky gents. If she, and they, desire this, of course. Then it will be time for the final two to meet Becca’s family, and for her to choose one at the final rose ceremony in an exotic location. Two weeks later, Kufrin will proceed to break up with the winner, dump him with cameras rolling, then secretly get back with the runner-up. Just kidding. Too soon. In truth, Becca’s odds of finding lasting love may not be great, despite what we’d like to believe. The show’s track record is just bad. On the flip side, The Bachelorette has produced more success stories than The Bachelor in recent years … and the bar is very low. After winning Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s final rose and engagement ring, only to be stripped of both and humiliated on live TV, you can only go up. Also in Becca’s favor? She’s Becca. Beautiful, confident, authentic, sweet and smart, she may be the single most popular lead in the history of the franchise. That can’t hurt. View Slideshow: 33 Hottest Women of The Bachelor: Who’s #1? Stay tuned for more Bachelor spoilers as the season draws closer and more intel is revealed … it should be one crazy ride as always.

Arie Luyendyk Jr.: Dragged by Bachelor Alumni Over Failed Relationship!

Be warned, folks — there are some The Bachelor Spoilers in this post. Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s explosive choice — and then his jaw-dropping and frankly horrifying decision a few weeks after the finale was filmed — have been aired. Now Bachelor alums Jordan Rodgers and Sean Lowe, each living happily ever after with the women they fell in love with on television, are weighing in. And throwing shade. The Bachelor ‘s finale was a wild ride last night, with viewers pulled along a roller coaster of emotions. Probably the most commonly expressed reactions on Twitter were shock, horror, and disgust. All directed at Arie Luyendyk Jr. Some directed at ABC. But former stars who found love on camera and kept their relationships intact are speaking out. During the broadcast, Jordan Rodgers tweeted: “WOW!!! The drama is UNBEARABLE!! … San Antonio’s is only up 1 over Memphis with 9 min to go in the 3rd Quarter.” As fake-outs go, that one is fine. Rodgers later commented on how he found love with JoJo Fletcher and won Season 12 of The Bachelorette . “I mean….some llamas and a cool breeze would’ve been nice, but 120 degrees and some smelly armpits was our story. Wouldn’t change a thing! (Except some stronger antiperspirant) #babe” JoJo faced a tough choice, but she chose Jordan and it looks like things have worked out just fine for them. They may not be married yet, but they’re happily cohabitating in Texas. Any Bachelor finale is a time to reflect on how he found love on television, but he has to be thanking his lucky stars that he and JoJo haven’t ended things at all — and especially that they haven’t ended things like Arie did with Becca Kufrin. Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici are a shining example that yes, you really can find lasting love on camera. These two have been married for three years and have a young son together. Sean took to Instagram to reflect on the season … and to promote ethically sourced diamonds. “Well, Arie’s crazy season has come to an end (kinda) and the finale of course reminded me of my time on The Bachelor when I proposed to Catherine in Thailand.” And they’ve been together ever since. “That moment on bended knee, placing the diamond ring on her finger was one of the very best moments of my life.” Here comes the plug that had him tagging his own post with “#ad.” “Catherine would have married me regardless of what kind of ring I gave her, but knowing she has an ethically sourced real diamond that she can pass down to our future daughter is pretty special.” Honestly, you can’t blame the guy for seizing the opportunity to make a little Instagram cash. Catherine got in on the action, too. She wrote: “They said our love wasn’t real. They said we couldn’t make it, and over 4 years (and almost 2 babies!) later, here we are.” Her post was also an “#ad” … and a Throwback Tuesday. “Throwing this Tuesday back to that magical moment, and this beautiful ethically-sourced diamond engagement ring.” Arie picked Becca Kufrin. The season and contest and love story were supposed to be over. Instead, after a few weeks, Becca endured the worst Bachelor heartbreak when Arie changed his mind. Arie called ABC and had their cameras come witness him as he ended his relationship with Becca and went running back to the runner-up, Lauren Burnham. Amazingly, Lauren — who was noted for being fairly quiet all season — took him back. Becca, in the mean time, was left devastated. It almost defies belief, but it appears that Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham are still together . That said, some wonder if Arie will have yet another change of heart in a few weeks or if Lauren was the one he should have chosen at the finale. However, some wonder if Arie is any more committed to Lauren than he was to Becca. Bekah Martinez, one of the Bachelor Nation’s favorite contestants this year and notably the youngest, exposed Arie’s DMs to the world. Was he just reaching out to his ex … or was he fishing to see if she was still interested? If so, how many other women has he messaged?
