People’s Choice Awards Ruled By Demi Lovato, ‘Glee’ Stars

Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Robert Pattinson also took home awards. By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato at the 2012 People’s Choice Awards Photo: Getty Images With a touch of sass and Neil Patrick Harris, “The Big Bang Theory” star Kaley Cuoco opened the 2012 People’s Choice Awards and set the tone for a night of good times when the show went live from Los Angeles on Wednesday night (January 11), kicking off what is sure to be an action-packed awards season. The night was a mixed bag of awards for TV, music and movies, with Emma Stone, Demi Lovato and “Castle” as the big headlines of the night. The guys of “The Grey” kicked off the night by handing out the award for Favorite Movie Actress to Emma Stone, who also won Favorite Comedic Actress. “You will literally make me cry,” Stone told the room. “I moved to L.A. eight years ago this week. And it is so insane to be standing up here right now.” Favorite TV Comedy Actress went to “Glee” star Lea Michele, who beat out the night’s host. She dedicated her award to “my amazing cast, my glee club. All of you are my best friends. You guys are the best. And Ryan Murphy for bringing so many of my dreams and making them come true. This is for my fans, and ‘Glee’ would be nothing without you guys.” “The Hunger Games” stars Liam Hemsworth and Jennifer Lawrence handed the award for Favorite TV Drama Actress to “Vampire Diaries” star Nina Dobrev, who seemed grateful to her fans for helping her win an award she wasn’t originally nominated for. “Wow guys, this is so great. You guys wrote and wrote and continued to write in that they cave in and gave me a nomination that I won!” she said in her lacy emerald green dress. Josh Hutcherson and Vanessa Hudgens welcomed Favorite Pop Artist winner Demi Lovato to the stage. Adam Sandler displayed his signature and vintage charm in his acceptance speech for Favorite Comedic Movie Actor, thanking his teachers for helping him make his frequently critically panned box-offices smashes. Cory Monteith and Julianne Hough shared some banter before they handed Chloe Moretz the Favorite Movie Star Under 25 prize. “I can’t even imagine that I’m in the same category as the whole ‘Harry Potter’ cast and I won,” the 14-year-old said before thanking her fans. Robert Pattinson accepted the award for Best Drama Movie for the sweeping and romantic “Water For Elephants.” “Thank you very much,” Pattinson said. “When I was doing this movie, I had so much fun doing it.” “Once Upon A Time” leading ladies Ginnifer Goodwin and Jennifer Morrison gave the Favorite TV Drama Actor trophy to “Castle” star Nathan Fillion. The show also won for Best TV Crime Drama. “Vampire Diaries” hotties Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley showed their funny side when they presented “Bridesmaids” with the award for Favorite Comedy Movie. “We’d like to thank everyone who voted for ‘Bridesmaids.’ We’d especially like to thank Kristen Wiig,” Producer Judd Apatow said with the female-driven cast behind him, who then launched into a rendition of Wilson Phillips’ classic “Hold On.” “Haywire” star Ewan McGregor had the distinction of handing out the Favorite Movie Icon prize to Morgan Freeman. “When I found out I had been nominated… I decided to look up icon so here’s what I found,” Freeman said, going on to joke about the many definitions of the word, before he said he was “forever grateful for this honor.” “How I Met Your Mother” were the last to take the stage home when the cast accepted the award for Favorite Network TV Comedy. By the end of the night, stars ranging from Rihanna (Favorite R&B Artist) to the cast of “2 Broke Girls” to Lady Gaga (for her album Born This Way ) had nabbed a Waterford Crystal trophy. ‘New Girl,’ ‘Revenge’ Sneak In Golden Globe TV Nods

‘American Horror Story’ is another new show that received surprise nominations. By Jocelyn Vena Zooey Deschanel in “The New Girl” Photo: FOX Sure, “30 Rock,” “Modern Family” and “Glee” all received Golden Globe nominations on Thursday (December 15), but a bunch of brand-new shows also find themselves up for statues at the broadcast. “New Girl,” “American Horror Story” and even America’s newest guilty pleasure, “Revenge,” all nabbed some kind of nod. The Comedy/ Musical Series nomination for Fox’s Zooey Deschanel vehicle “New Girl” is a bit of a surprise. The rookie sitcom follows Actress – Comedy nominee Deschanel as she plays a recently heartbroken schoolteacher who moves in with three single guys. From there, wackiness ensues. A win for Deschanel (who goes up against heavy-hitters like Tina Fey, Laura Linney and Amy Poehler) would bring some fresh blood to the broadcast. While it’s commendable that new shows are getting recognized, it’s surprising that Poehler managed to earn a nomination for her turn as Leslie Knope but that “Parks and Recreation” wasn’t nominated in the Comedy/ Musical Series category. Living on the polar opposite spectrum, FX’s creepy, soapy “American Horror Story” is an unexpected contender in the Drama Series category. The show is a frightening look at relationships and suburbia, where sometimes the decisions made by the living turn out to be more frightening than the things that go bump in the night. Jessica Lange is up for Supporting Actress. Can the show beat out a show like “Boardwalk Empire” or “Game of Thrones”? Probably not, but it’s nice recognition for one of TV’s most compelling new series. If anything, Lange’s portrayal of L.A.’s nosiest neighbor, Constance, deserves some love. Madeleine Stowe probably won’t take home a trophy for her portrayal of the lovably evil Victoria Grayson on “Revenge” in the Best Actress – Television Series Drama category, but her nomination comes as a delightful acknowledgement of that show’s undeniable ability to keep viewers entertained week after week as they tune in to see what happens to the Hamptons’ richest and most powerful. The most predictable nods, perhaps, go to critical favorites and awards-show darlings like “30 Rock,” “Mildred Pierce,” “The Big Bang Theory” and “Modern Family.” But what does come as a surprise is the fact that “Breaking Bad” was snubbed in the Drama Series category, given the show’s critical praise and fan fervor. Hosted by Ricky Gervais for the third straight time, the Golden Globe Awards will air on Sunday, January 15, on NBC. Kate Major 911 Call: Scared of Michael Lohan!

The 911 call placed by Michael Lohan’s girlfriend Kate Major after he allegedly lost it and threatened to kill her in a dispute over oral relief has been released. On the call, Major does not sound happy. You can hear a panicked Kate, who has been down this road before with MiLo, telling the operator, “I’m afraid of him. He’s gonna come in here and hit me.” She then hesitates to give out her address for some reason (as the dispatcher says, that’s what 911 is for), then appears to lie when Mike asks who she’s calling. The father of Lindsay Lohan got popped on suspicion of domestic violence early this morning in Tampa, Fla. Here’s the 911 call that led to his arrest … Michael Lohan 911 Call

‘Glee,’ ‘SNL,’ ‘Modern Family’ Rack Up Emmy Nominations

‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Mildred Pierce’ help HBO lead the pack with 104 nominations. By Aly Semigran Dot-Marie Jones and Matthew Morrison in “Glee” Photo: FOX The nominations for the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced at the crack of dawn Thursday (July 14) — 5:40 a.m. PT, to be exact — and while reigning Outstanding Comedy Series champ “Glee” is currently undergoing some major casting shake-ups, the show’s ensemble still did well in the nominations department. Last year’s Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series winner Jane Lynch, who is also hosting the ceremony this year, will once again try for a supporting Emmy, as will Golden Globe winner Chris Colfer. 2010 nominee Lea Michele did not garner a nomination this time around. The musical dramedy also won nominations for guest stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Kristin Chenoweth and Dot-Marie Jones. As expected, there were some major upsets and shockers in each Emmy category, but perhaps none more apparent then the wildly popular HBO drama “True Blood” being shut out of all major categories, including Outstanding Drama Series and all major acting races. Actress Melissa McCarthy ‘s year, on the other hand, just continues to get better. In addition to her star-making turn in the breakout comedy “Bridesmaids,” McCarthy became a first-time Emmy nominee for her work on the sitcom “Mike & Molly.” The actress got the news firsthand as she, along with “Fringe” star Joshua Jackson, announced the nominations for the 2011 Emmy Awards Thursday morning. But the stunned McCarthy wasn’t the only one to have a good morning in Hollywood. McCarthy’s “Bridesmaids” co-star Kristen Wiig garnered her second nomination in the Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series category for her work on “Saturday Night Live.” She’s up against the women of “Modern Family” and Betty White for “Hot in Cleveland.” “SNL,” which was nominated for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series, also brought some good luck to Justin Timberlake, who earned four Emmy nominations. The “Friends With Benefits” star was nominated for his appearance as host (he’ll go against the likes of Matt Damon and fellow “SNL” host Zach Galifianakis in the guest category) as well as winning three nominations for his musical contributions including “Jack Sparrow” and the Lady Gaga-featured “3-Way.” “SNL” vet Tina Fey found herself a double nominee thanks to her “SNL” hosting appearance and another Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series nomination for her work on “30 Rock.” But no comedy series cast had a better morning than the “Modern Family” ensemble. The show racked up an impressive 17 nominations, just behind cable dramas “Mad Men” (19 nods) and “Boardwalk Empire (18), with the entire cast (well, the adults, anyway) — Julie Bowen, Sofia Vergara, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ty Burrell, last year’s winner Eric Stonestreet and first-time nominee Ed O’Neill — all nominated in the supporting-actor/actress comedy series categories. Several stars were rewarded with nominations for their final year of work on their respective series. Steve Carell, who departed from Outstanding Comedy Series nominee “The Office” (which is competing against “The Big Bang Theory,” “Glee,” “Modern Family,” “Parks and Recreation” and “30 Rock”) towards the end of its seventh season, garnered another nomination in the Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series (Carell has never won). Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton of “Friday Night Lights,” whose final season wraps up this year, both earned lead acting nominations in the drama categories. “FNL” also scored with a nomination in the Outstanding Drama Series category, against “Boardwalk Empire,” “Dexter,” “Game of Thrones,” “The Good Wife” and “Mad Men.” Newcomer “Game of Thrones” did well for HBO, the most-nominated network this year. In addition to the drama nod, the series adapted from George R.R. Martin’s books also found a nomination for Peter Dinklage in the Supporting Actor in a Drama Series race. Other notable actor nominees this year include Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”), Michael C. Hall (“Dexter”), Amy Poehler (“Parks and Recreation”) and Kate Winslet (“Mildred Pierce”). HBO’s “Mildred Pierce” is the most-nominated work for 2011. Check out more nominees below, and for nominations in all Emmy categories, visit Emmy.com . The 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air live on Fox on Sunday, September 18, at 8:00 p.m. Reality Competition: “The Amazing Race,” American Idol,” “Dancing With the Stars,” “Project Runway,” “So You Think You Can Dance,” “Top Chef” Reality host: Tom Bergeron (“Dancing With the Stars”), Cat Deeley (“So You Think You Can Dance”), Phil Keoghan (“The Amazing Race”), Jeff Probst (“Survivor”), Ryan Seacrest (“American Idol”) Animated Series: “The Cleveland Show,” “Robot Chicken,” “The Simpsons,” “South Park,” “Futurama” Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series: “The Colbert Report,” “Conan,” “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart,” “Real Time With Bill Maher,” “Saturday Night Live,” “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” Related Videos Musical ‘Glee-Caps’ Of Season Two

Kelsey Grammer Launches Reality TV Production Company (No, Seriously)

Kelsey Grammer just launched a reality TV production company. Really, he did . Several networks are already interested in his first show, too – one centered around three single girls living in NYC who started the site ThatsNotOkayNY (dot) com. A promotional tape has been filmed and is generating interest. No deals have been signed yet, but one could be close. No, Kelsey and Kayte Walsh aren’t starring on a reality show. Yet . Kelsey teamed up with executive producers Stella Stolper and Brian Sher, the forces behind T.I.’s reality show on MTV, to form the company, G3 Productions. No idea what 3 stands for. His number of previous wives ? Number of failed shows he’s been on since Frasier? Number of people who care about this story? Difficult to tell.
