Game of Bones: Celebrity Nudity on DVD and Blu-Ray 3.6.12 [PICS]

Things are looking up on DVD and Blu-ray, as this year’s Anatomy Award Winner for Best TV Series , Game of Boners – oh, sorry, Game of Thrones – hits DVD and Blu-ray. But that’s not the only example of outstanding skinema on Blu-ray this week: Striptease (1996) and 9 1/2 Weeks (1986) are both getting the HD treatment, as is the director’s cut of Reindeer Games (2000), featuring a nude Charlize Theron . Plus, Nudity Hall-of-Famer Elena Anaya deftly straddles the line between creepy and sexy (among other things) in the arthouse horror flick The Skin I Live In (2011), nude on DVD and Blu-ray.

Talkback: Which of These 39 Tunes Deserves the Oscar for Best Original Song?

I have a particular fondness for the Oscars’ Best Original Song category. Where else will you find Carly Simon, Eminem, Irene Cara, Marvin Hamlisch, and Keith Carradine together — other than one fantastic revival of Bravo’s Celebrity Poker Showdown ? The potential nominees for this year’s award have just been released, an I’m already playing favorites with one criminally twee jam. Pick your favorite after the jump.

Watch Madonna and Her W.E. Cast Make Their Movie Seem Likable in 24-Minute Doc

I am obviously a thundering shill for Madonna whether she’s making terrible movies with her ex-husband or making terrible movies with Griffin Dunne , but there’s something about W.E. ‘s self-serious, accidental telenovela that’s not even watchably bad. It’s just humorless and overlong — though Andrea Riseborough is fabulous as the polarizing Wallis Simpson. In a new 24-minute documentary about Madonna’s big feature, the director and her cast do their best to sell their watercolored biopic, and I tell you what? They do a good job. Don’t ask me to explain it. But James D’A rcy still looks like Anthony Perkins, so shut up and start crying in adoration.

More:

From the director of Step Up 3D and Justin Bieber: Never Say Never comes G.I. Joe Retaliation! And while that sounds like a joke, once you watch the first trailer for this sequel to the 2009’s The Rise of Cobra, it makes perfect sense. Scarlett Johansson’s Next Role? Film Director [PICS]

It seems like you’re nobody in Hollywood these days unless you’ve been on both sides of the camera, and Scarlett Johansson is eager to be somebody. The actress announced this week that she’ll be making her directorial debut next year with Summer Crossing , a coming-of-age tale set in 1940s New York and based on a novella by Breakfast at Tiffany’s author Truman Capote . No word yet on whether or not Scarlett will cast herself in the lead role…or talk herself into doing a nude scene. Scarlett’s far from the first sexy actress to step into the director’s chair- see more after the jump!

Kevin Clash, the Man Behind Elmo, on Jim Henson, Puppetry, and Jason Segel’s The Muppets

The Muppets are legendary TV and film characters, but there’s something about Sesame Street ‘s giggliest resident, Elmo, that makes small children perk up. Constance Marks, the director of the new documentary Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey , put Elmo’s appeal this way: “Kids sit up, pay attention, and turn on. There’s that bright red fur and adorable bulgy eyes, but it’s the soul of the puppeteer that people are responding to. It’s an amazing gift.”
