While Christina Aguilera made like The King of Pop at the Michael Forever tribute concert in Cardiff, Wales last night, former American Idol finalist Jennifer Hudson did not attend the event – and her absence is raising a few questions this morning. According to a Hudson Tweet on Saturday afternoon, she said “major production issues” would prevent her from performing, while a rep for the artist tells TMZ producers were made aware ahead of time and “completely understood.” However, other sources tell the site the complete opposite. They claim Hudson shocked organizers by her no-show and, to make matters worse/more controversial, she was paid in full ahead of time for the gig. Those who did play a role in the tribute, meanwhile, included Ne-Yo, LaToya Jackson, Leona Lewis, Cee Lo Green, Gladys Knight, Beyonce (via satellite) and Jamie Foxx, who served as host. ‘Twilight,’ ‘New Moon’ and ‘Eclipse’ will hit theaters on Tuesdays in November, leading up to the release of ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 1.’ By Jocelyn Vena Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” Photo: Summit It appears that “Twilight Tuesdays” are back. It was announced that Summit will re-release the first three “Twilight Saga” films on Tuesdays in November, leading up to the release of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” on November 18. The theater events will kick off on November 1 with the first flick in the franchise, 2008’s “Twilight.” “Twilight Saga: New Moon” (2009) will open on November 8, and last year’s “Eclipse” opens the following week on November 15. Each showing will take place at 7:30 p.m. local time, and the films have been updated to include cast introductions and interviews as well as behind-the-scenes content. Ticket information and a complete list of theaters hosting the events can be found at the Fathom events website. Anticipation for the first of two “Breaking Dawn” films is at a fever pitch, with fans yearning to see Edward and Bella finally tie the knot. The newlyweds’ honeymoon and all the drama surrounding Bella’s pregnancy will also be addressed in part 1. “I’ve seen it a few times,” actor Taylor Lautner told MTV News about the film. “I saw it for the first time while we were still filming, so it was a really rough cut, but I’ve seen several versions since then, and it’s getting better and better.” “You are going to face a lot of emotions, definitely,” he further teased about the Bill Condon-directed flick. “You are going to be angry. I guarantee you [that] you will cry multiple times. There’s a good mix. It’s definitely different than any of the ones before.” Of course, this is hardly the end for Twi-Hards. The second “Breaking Dawn” film opens on November 16, 2012. Jay-Z’s carnival-themed fundraiser, held last week at New York’s Pier 54 for his Shawn Carter Foundation, raised $1,000,000. The event, called Making The Ordinary Extraordinary, aimed to raise funds for college scholarships for underprivileged kids. Jay arrived first to the event first, but Bey and her belly inconspicuously came later, meeting him at the Spotted Pig food truck where they snacked on sliders. She also sat at a picnic table and watched as her hubby threw darts with Alex Rodriguez. Jay and his mother Gloria Carter started the foundation in 2002 with only one student earning a full ride through college. However, in the next three years, the offering grew to offer 50 scholarships in 50 states. Now, more than 750 students have been awarded scholarships and nearly 500 kids have taken part in the foundation’s college tours, some even rode the bus with Jay’s mom. We love this! ‘Wild Thing’ MC, also charged with possession of an assault weapon, sentenced to one day in county jail and three years of probation. By Gil Kaufman Tone-Loc Photo: Todd Williamson/ Getty Images Three months after his arrest on weapons and domestic-violence charges, “Wild Thing” rapper Tone-Loc (born Anthony Smith) pleaded no contest to one count of possession of an assault weapon (a Colt AR-15 Sporter) and one count of corporal injury to his child’s mother. The 45-year-old Los Angeles MC, best known for late-’80s hits such as “Funky Cold Medina,” was arrested June 18 on suspicion of felony domestic violence following an alleged physical altercation with the mother of one of his children. Police did not reveal the name of the alleged victim, and Loc was released on $50,000 bail after three hours in jail. According to a release from the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office, Loc was sentenced to one day in county jail, three years of formal probation, 30 days of community service and 52 weeks of anger-management counseling by Burbank Superior Court Judge Patrick Hegarty. The D.A.’s office specified that the firearm was not used in the domestic assault, but that the investigation found the rapper in possession of an unregistered assault weapon. The rapper, who has dabbled in acting over the years, has recently become the subject of controversy thanks to his selection as the entertainment for Syracuse University’s upcoming Midnight Madness basketball celebration. The event, which will take place October 14, is intended to get students excited about the upcoming season. But one Yahoo! sports writer complained that the Loc selection was a poor replacement for other potential headliners such as New York-bred heavyweights Jay-Z or Nicki Minaj. Related Artists Tone-Loc

Former Police-man’s star-studded birthday show also featured Billy Joel, will.i.am and Mary J. Blige. By Gil Kaufman Lady Gaga performs with others at Sting’s 60th birthday concert Photo: Getty Images Most people turn 60 with a quiet party among friends or maybe a surprise bash put together on the DL by their spouses that features a hilarious slideshow or funny video. Not Sting . The former Police frontman and solo star plugged in and played with everyone from Lady Gaga to Mary J. Blige and Bruce Springsteen in celebration of his 60th birthday on Saturday night at the Beacon Theater in New York. The event, a charity fundraiser for the anti-poverty group the Robin Hood Foundation , included Gaga on piano banging out a jazzy cover of the Police’s “King of Pain,” giving the sedate ballad the same kind of electric energy she brings to her own key-thumper “You and I,” according to Rolling Stone . She traded lines with Sting on a stage packed with up to 20 musicians, including a string section and backup singers, who helped the eternally youthful singer work his way though his 30-plus-year catalog of hits. Among the other highlights: Stevie Wonder doing a duet with Sting on “Fragile,” will.i.am throwing a freestyle rap and bits of the BEP’s “I Gotta Feelin’ ” into the Police’s “Walking on the Moon,” Billy Joel marking a rare return to the stage for renditions of “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” and “Don’t Stand So Close to Me,” Rufus Wainwright singing “Wrapped Around Your Finger,” and Sting teaming up with his son Joe for a moving rendition of the tune Sting wrote about his own relationship with his pops, “Why Should I Cry For You?” One of the highlights of the evening was the mini-set with Springsteen, who waltzed out with his guitar to sing the sedate death-row ballad “I Hung My Head,” which featured a raucous guitar solo. He also performed a solo version of “Fields of Gold” on 12-string guitar and harmonica, with one verse sung a cappella. Sting came out to sing “Can’t Stand Losing You” with the Boss, with the two men leaning in to each other and howling the lyrics into the same microphone. The night ended with the party’s guests trading lines on “Every Breath You Take,” with Gaga nodding to her piano icon, Joel, while singing the line “Can’t you see/ You’re the one for me.” Sting closed out the show with a solo acoustic version of “Message in a Bottle,” which was followed by wife Trudie Styler surprising him with a dozen bagpipers and a confetti drop that got the one-named rock icon misty. “Thank you a million times,” he told the crowd as he and the missus danced together onstage.
