The Real Housewives of Atlanta Recap: Eva Marcille vs. The Entire Cast

Eva Marcille is learning the hard way that being shady is not the way forward on The Real Housewives of Atlanta.  NeNe Leakes was livid that she never made the cut to be invited to Eva’s bachelorette party and wasted no time in telling her friends just how mad she was.  Eva was put on blast during a girls’ trip that was planned by NeNe. Cynthia Bailey took an immediate issue with the fact that some of the housewives were left out, mainly because Eva previously asked NeNe to speak at her wedding.  When asked about how the event was, Eva could not look any of the ladies in the eye, so she settled for the ground and said the event was “bomb” and that “it was a surprise.” This was clearly a tactic from Eva to make everyone think that she was not in the know about who was and was not invited.  And then Porsha Williams threw in her two cents.  “But I was invited a while ago,” Porsha yelled, and Kandi Burruss was not amused. “Wait, I’m confused. How is it a surprise if you invited Porsha?” the Xscape hitmaker complained.  Eva continued to claim that she had little knowledge of the event but kept changing her story throughout the episode.  Porsha claimed she “didn’t think it was a secret” and asked straight up why NeNe was not part of the guest list.  Eva continued on the denial train, and Cynthia was mad. Eva has long maintained that she and NeNe go way back, so Cynthia was pissed that Eva would treat her this way.  “I don’t have any biological sisters that I know, so for me, women in my life and in my circle is a blessing,” Eva went on to say while fighting back tears. “I don’t have to be best friends with NeNe for me to have a level of respect for her. I’m inspired by NeNe. I have seen who NeNe has become. I’ve seen her successes, and I support her.” “I don’t talk to her every day like [Cynthia does], that’s fine. Or every day like Marlo does, that’s fine. But that doesn’t change the way I feel about her.” NeNe was taken aback, but still confused.  “I think Marlo and Cynthia’s biggest issue was how do you be in somebody’s wedding and they don’t invite you to the bachelorette weekend?” she said to Eva. “Even if you thought a person was busy, you still extend the invite, whether they’re busy or not.” NeNe could tell there was something amiss with Eva, but she did not tell her that to her face.  “I don’t know if I would have gone to Eva’s bachelorette party, but an invite would’ve been f–king nice,” she said. “I mean, she did ask me to speak at her wedding, so it seems to me it would make more sense if she had just said, ‘Hey, girl, do you wanna come to Florida?!’ And I probably would’ve said, ‘Hey, girl, no!'” Okay then.  The other big fight of the night was a dud. Shamari DeVoe felt like Porsha was giving her the cold shoulder, so she called her out.  Porsha responded by saying that she felt the same way about Shamari. It emerged that Eva was the one who was causing all the problems, so Porsha was in the clear here.  What are your thoughts on the latest arguments? #FreeCyntoiaBrown: Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam To Decide On Clemency Before Leaving Office In 6 Weeks

Source: Pattanaphong Khuankaew / EyeEm / Getty Cyntoia Brown’s Freedom Rests With Gov. Haslam’s Clemency Decision Cyntoia Brown deserves her freedom. Sadly, a 60-year-old white man holds the keys to her liberation, literally. According to CNN , Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam is in the process of deciding whether or not to grant Cyntoia clemency for killing a man who solicited her for prostitution back in 2004. This case has struck a chord with millions of people on social media and celebs like Rihanna and Kim Kardashian. The system has failed. It’s heart breaking to see a young girl sex trafficked then when she has the courage to fight back is jailed for life! We have to do better & do what’s right. I’ve called my attorneys yesterday to see what can be done to fix this. #FreeCyntoiaBrown pic.twitter.com/73y26mLp7u — Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) November 21, 2017 When asked about Cyntoia’s case by a Black Lives Matter activist at an event this past Monday, Haslam replied: “We are in the midst of reviewing Cyntoia’s case,” Haslam said at an event Monday night, responding to a local Black Lives Matter activist who asked about clemency for Brown. “We’ll hopefully have a decision — I’m just here for six more weeks, so it’ll be before that,” Haslam said, according to a video of the event posted online by The Tennessean newspaper. “But we’re doing our best to review every aspect of that, talking to everybody involved, just like we are with several other — I wouldn’t say exactly similar cases — but somewhat similar cases.” BOSSIP fam, we ask that you flood Gov. Haslam’s office with letters, tweets, Facebook messages, carrier pigeons, smoke signals, flying banners, and any form of legal communication you can manage to send him the message that clemency is the right thing to do.

Ayanna Pressley Calls Out Democrats For Not Supporting Black Women Candidates

View original post here:

M assachusetts Representative-elect Ayanna Pressley remained true to the message she shared with NewsOne before winning her primary race for Congress: The Democratic Party is at a crossroads and must support Black female candidates to succeed in the future. “I think our campaign is asking the question, ‘Democrats, are we really who we say we are or do we just roll out hashtags and bumper stickers to make for cute slogans’?” she told NewsOne when asked about the party’s failure to support her and other women of color. See Also: Blue Party: Say Hello To The Black Wave At a gathering Tuesday of party donors in Washington, D.C., Pressley talked to the audience about the record high number of Democratic female candidates who won elections in 2018, according to an audio recording of the event obtained by BuzzFeed News . “Now we must push ourselves to ask the tough questions about whether or not we provided them with the institutional support so we can break through more glass and concrete ceilings as rapidly as possible,” she said, adding that the party must invest in candidate diversity, as well as inclusion at the staff level. #NOTheOne is giving shine to all the Black women currently owning the political space this season. It includes several members who are the first African-American women to represent their state or district, including Pressley, Lauren Underwood of Illinois, Jahana Hayes from Connecticut and Georgia’s Lucy McBath . Unlike the other three, Pressley and many other Black female candidates received no support from the Democratic Party. Indeed, the party’s establishment backed Pressley’s primary opponent, 10-term incumbent Rep. Michael E. Capuano . Despite trailing in the polls leading up to the September primary, Pressley won 58.9 percent of the vote to his 41.1 percent. Pressley, who was a Boston city council member, vowed to champion bread-and-butter issues for her constituents, such as improved housing, public health and education, as well as economic development and criminal justice reform. She connected with struggling working-class families by promoting those progressive issues, she told NewsOne. At the gathering Tuesday in the nation’s capital, Pressley told her audience that she discovered a “mandate for hope” while running her own campaign and supporting the campaign of other insurgent candidates. She urged party leaders to take careful note as they navigate a course for the 2020 elections. Elizabeth Hurley Bikini Erotica of the Day

Elizabeth Hurley is still posting bikini pics – in the event you were one of those Elizabeth Hurley fans because you just can’t get enough Austin Powers…her biggest moment…. Speaking of Austin Powers, I am a slob and not very good at managing pretty much anything, so I was looking through a box and saw a DVD RENTAL BOX from 2001, when DVDs were a thing and it was Austin Powers..the Liz Hurley One…and I hate that kind of comedy and don’t even remember seeing that video – but here it is in my possession…maybe it was left behind by a crackwhore or maybe I am blocking out the day I robbed a videostore of their worst movie ever…but I can say with confidence that if I do have that DVD, it has likely been jerked off to, whether I remember or not…and the target of that jerking off was likely these tits….30 fucking years ago…but for some reason still looking very similar…weird muppets everywhere. HBO’s Sandra Bland Documentary Proves Her Spirit Is Still Advocating For Justice

Read the original:

On the 14th floor of HBO’s office I am instantly greeted by Sandra Bland’s face when I walk into the conference room. Source: Sandra Bland’s sisters Shante Needham (L), Sharon Cooper (R) / Charise Frazier I see two women, Sharon Cooper and Shante Needham, who if given a brief glance, would pass for their deceased sister. They are warm and very welcoming. The spirit of Sandra Bland is definitely in the room. On any other occasion, it might’ve felt like we were gathered to talk about something less heavy. As we greet one another and prepare to dive into the discussion, the imagery of Sandra’s face embedded onto Needham’s shirt won’t let me forget. We are here to talk about HBO’s latest documentary, Say Her Name: The Life and Death of Sandra Bland,  which documents the events leading up to the death of their beloved sister, who was found hanged in a Texas jail (Waller County) three days after being pulled over by former officer, Brian Encinia. The completed project shows never before seen footage and details what transpired from Sandra’s arrest on July 10, 2015, to her death on July 13, 2015. The film also touches on Sandra’s impact and how her death became a literal representation of the undocumented state-sanctioned violence that many Black women in America face, birthing the rallying call, #SayHerName. “I think what we have managed to do is fully document what families go through in the aftermath of this,” Cooper said. “It really all comes down to I think historically, people who don’t have the proper or appropriate intel or access, have been telling our stories, and they tell our stories to the exclusion of us.” For the past three years Sandra Bland’s family undertook an unthinkable task. They have repeatedly witnessed the events leading up to their loved one’s death in watching dash cam footage of her arrest. They’ve read and negated online commentary written by people who never knew Sandra. They’ve sat through a long legal battle advocating for some form of justice. And all the while, they’ve had to process the stages of grief. “As you can only imagine, this was very, very, very raw. And to have to relieve it over and over and over again, it put a lot of emotional stress on a person,” Needham said. Just two weeks after Sandra’s death, HBO contacted Sandra’s family to begin documenting. HBO enlisted award-winning filmmakers, Kate Davis and David Heilbroner, to tell the story, who followed the events as they unfolded on social media and in the news. In total, from start to completion, the film took about two and a half years. For the filmmakers who’s life work is based in civil rights and activism, Sandra’s case enlisted a series of challenges and mystique which made her specific story unique. “We were also drawn to the story because it was one more situation where a person of color died at the hands of cops–at the hands of police, whether literally or not. She was in custody in this case, all too often it was happening on the streets,” Davis said. “Editing this film was doing a really complicated braiding. It’s a mystery. It’s a death in custody. It’s also a portrait of a woman as she becomes woke and empowered. It’s also a political parable of race in America,” said Heilbronner. As white filmmakers, Davis and Heilbronner are in complete alignment with what it means to tell a Black woman’s story, putting their own biases and privilege into examination during and after filming as they forged a tight bond with Sandra’s family during the process. “I’m just gonna note the elephant in the room. No Kate and Dave don’t look like the broader part of this community that’s being impacted, but they’re truth tellers,” said Cooper. “They just seemed so genuine, they cared,” Needham said. As filmmakers, Helbronner and Davis did their best to use all of the voices involved in the case, conducting on camera interviews with Sandra’s family and Waller County authorities. According to Davis, Brian Encinia was the only person who declined to participate in the film. Remarkably, Sandra’s voice narrates the documentary using snippets from her video blog, “Sandy Speaks.” “Sandy utilized a very free platform to speak her truth and to express herself, and so it was this digital memorialization of her that I don’t even think she realized that she was making at the time,” said Cooper. “And to be able to leverage that throughout the film and have her appear as the voice narrating her own documentary, that’s powerful and I don’t think that we take a step back and are just in awe of that and how powerful that is and how social media, because it does give us the power to connect and build community, we connected and built so much community through the duration of that case,” Cooper said. Social media and the news media played a large role in Sandra’s case, setting a tone for public perception in regards to the narrative. It presented rewarding but oftentimes difficult challanges for all involved; the family, filmmakers and the family’s legal counsel, Cannon Lambert. Lambert helped the family secure a $1.9 million in a civil settlement and also assisting the family in navigating a difficult and painful legal terrain. Encinia was fired by the Texas Department of Public Safety in March 2016 after a grand jury indicted Encina over falsifying Sandra’s arrest report. The Sandra Bland Act was signed into law in June 2017 offering an investment in de-escalation tactics for officers and awareness surrounding mental health. But a few days after the Sandra Bland Act was signed, the perjury charge was dropped against Encinia. Sandra’s case begs the question surrounding the definition of justice. “Justice is evasive,” said Lambert. “I don’t think you ever go into it believing that you as a lawyer have the ability to bring about justice. What you have the ability to do though is to shepard families through a very difficult terrain so that they can come away feeling like they were heard,” he said. Forgiveness is also an idea which Sandra’s family does not feel committed to take up. Needham and Cooper both expressed that the first step to forgiveness is an apology, which they believe has not been issued on behalf of Waller County authorities. But through their pain, the family has found time to heal using therapy, journaling and by supporting other families who have experienced the same difficulties. “We will never be the same. Holidays, birthdays, marriages, kids, grandkids. She’s gonna miss all of that. And why?” Needham said. “Say Her Name: The Life and Death of Sandra Bland” premieres Monday, December 3 at 10 p.m. (EST) on HBO.
