Beef Done: Drake Brings Out Meek Mill In Boston

Source: Mayweather vs McGregor Pre-Event VIP Party Red Carpet at T-Mobile Arena Featuring: Meek Mills Where: Las Vegas, Nevada, United States When: 26 Aug 2017 Credit: Judy Eddy/WENN.com  A lot of people called this, even at the height of their beef. Last night (Sept. 8), Drake brought out Meek Mill as a special guest during his Aubrey and the Three Amigos Tour stop in Boston.  You remember the beef, right? Meek went full petty and exposed Drizzy’s ghostwriter use. The fallout was the Philly rapper taking an L, culminating with 6 God going full savage and dropping the catchy as hell diss track “Back To Back.” Well, that’s all water under the bridge as Meek performed his “Dreams & Nightmares Intro” during a Drake concert at TD Garden. Drake brings out @MeekMill for his Dreams and Nightmares intro tonight in Boston. #AATTM pic.twitter.com/msfcegt5xz — Word On Road (@WordOnRd) September 9, 2018 If this means all new and better music from these two, we’re with it. The moment wasn’t lost on Drake, who spoke about it on Instagram (see on the flip).

Here’s Another Sign That Cory Booker Is Running For President

N ew Jersey’s Democratic Sen. Cory Booker received an important invitation to visit Iowa for a political event, signalling to many that Booker is already on the 2020 presidential campaign trail. SEE ALSO: Will He Or Won’t He?: Cory Booker Talks Political Plans For 2020 Iowa Democratic Party Chairman Troy Price announced Saturday that Booker agreed to be the keynote speaker at the party’s fall gala, days after Booker was in the national spotlight at the confirmation hearing for President Trump ‘s high court nominee, Politico reported. Price declined to say whether he asked other prospective candidates to appear at the event in Iowa, the first stop in the presidential primaries. He credited the senator as “a great speaker” whom he wanted to headline the gala. “We’ve said all along that we welcome anyone who wants to help us get Democrats elected in 2018, and we’re happy to have Senator Booker’s help. This dinner is only about the great opportunities ahead of us in this election this fall,” Price told the news outlet. Booker heading to Iowa in October https://t.co/Q4jpvCjUBM — POLITICO (@politico) September 9, 2018 In 2008, Iowa Caucus Democrats gave then-Sen. Barack Obama its seal of approval . Iowans connected with Obama’s message of hope and change, and he rode that wave of enthusiasm all the way to the White House. The invitation suggests that Iowa Democrats want to get a closer look at Booker, and it presents an opportunity for the senator to test his message. This is yet another indication that Booker will probably announce his candidacy. Other signs include him downplaying his interest in running for president–which nearly every candidate in office does before announcing a run for president. During an  exclusive interview  with  IOne  family’s  WRNB’s Quincy Harris Morning Show , Booker said: “My intention is to run for reelection. I’m not going to play coy. I’d definitely consider it (a presidential run).” Booker has also used his platform in the Senate to fire up the base, as Obama did as a senator. Booker berated Department of Homeland Security Secretary  Kirstjen Nielsen   at a January hearing for her “amnesia” about hearing the president’s “shithole countries” remark toward Haiti and African nation. On Thursday, Democrats applauded Booker for risking Senate expulsion for releasing documents Republicans tried to hide, which revealed Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh ’s preference for racial profiling as a law enforcement tool. This Alabama County Has Never Had An Integrated School Until Now

View original post here:

O ne county in Alabama was finally moving forward with stopping segregation in its schools. The first integrated school in Sumter County finally made its debut on Monday, ushering in a new era after a painful past. The University Charter School (UCS) opened its doors to serve students from kindergarten to eighth grade in the city of Livingston, AL.com reported. Both white and Black students — more than half of the 300-plus students were Black while a little less than a half were white — sat and learned in classrooms. UCS made history with having a better balance of a diverse student body. No other school in the county has even come close to UCS’ more equitable ratio of white and Black students, according to historical enrollment documents. The UCS ratio shed light on the county’s demographics, which is 76 percent Black and 24 percent white, according to the latest U.S. Census  data. The county was also the poorest one in the state. The *first* integrated school in Sumter County, Alabama opened its doors yesterday. (via @Trish_Crain ) https://t.co/7vNVB0CZ93 — adam harris (@AdamHSays) August 14, 2018 The process of integration in Sumter, like that of Alabama, has been slow despite the large population of African-Americans in the county. The 1969 federal court decision that ordered integration to come to Sumter — 15 years after the landmark Brown vs. Board of Education decision — spurred white students to create their own private schools called “segregation academies.” As those private “academies” spread, Sumter’s public school district became predominantly Black. Parents were stuck with a choice of sending their kids to an all-white private institution or a largely Black public school. However, that hasn’t stopped strong integration pushes, which have led to the creation of UCS. A circuit county judge gave the green light for the school’s opening last month, beginning to clear the way for the painful segregation struggle to end and a more intertwined community to emerge. With the school’s debut, parents, teachers and students alike were thrilled and recognized the significance of the event. “The school will work wonders for the community,” Markeitha Tolliver , parent of fourth-grader Marquez Tolliver , said. “I’m praying they keep it for a very long time.” SEE ALSO: Soul Music Legend Aretha Franklin Is Reportedly Near Death Florida Denny’s Turns Away Black Churchgoers And Forced To Apologize [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3821729″ overlay=”true”]

Viral Clip Of Black Woman Being Beat With Broom At Nail Salon Sparks Protest

Here is the original post:

Source: Andrew Lichtenstein / Getty A nail salon in Brooklyn is catching major heat after a video online has gone viral. At New Red Apple Nail in East Flatbush, a Black woman is caught on camera being hit with a broom by another woman in a black shirt. The Black woman being hit eventually walks out of the salon, while employees in smocks surround two other Black women in the corner. The groups yell at each other, and one employee even throws liquid at the Black women. You can watch the video for yourself here . According to Pix 11 , the whole incident occurred because a grandmother was dissatisfied with her eyebrow work and refused to pay the salon. The recording of the incident went up on Friday on Facebook and eventually gained over 700,000 views. Protesters started gathering around the nail salon on Monday demanding the business be closed and locals take their money elsewhere. Chants of “black dollars matter” were shouted amongst gatherers. Activist Jasmine Johnson says the liquid thrown in the video was acetone, the primary ingredient in nail polish remover. “So because she did not want to pay the $5 for her messed-up eyebrows, they attacked this grandmother and her two granddaughters with sticks, threw acetone on them and then called the police on them,” Johnson said. You can peep her commentary on the event and the protest below.   Police said Monday that two arrests have been made. Huiyue Zhing, an employee, faces charges of misdemeanor menacing, misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon and harassment. She allegedly was the one who beat customer Christina Thomas with a broom, resulting in a laceration to Thomas’ neck and an injury to her back. Thomas also faces charges including misdemeanor assault, misdemeanor menacing and harassment. She allegedly punched and slapped someone, dragging them over the floor. Zhing was hospitalized with injuries to her face and body, while Thomas refused medical treatment, according to the police. Since the fight, hundreds of negative reviews have hit the salon’s Yelp page. We’ll continue to keep you updated if any major updates should surface.
