In an interesting bit of movie news , one other than Jay-Z will be working with the Bullitts to score Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby movie, according to reports. Luhrmann played Jay-Z ‘s music during rehearsals for the forthcoming film and used Watch the Throne ‘s “No Church in the Wild” in the film’s first two trailers. Prince and Lady Gaga wrote songs for the film as well, so it’s unclear if those will be out of the picture or played in addition to Jay’s overall score. Also, no word if he will start going by the name Great Gats-Z.

Jennifer Hudson To Star In Film Produced By Alicia Keys More black starpower is headed to Hollyweird under the direction of noted film director George Tillman, Jr. Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Hudson will join actors Jeffrey Wright and Anthony Mackie and singer-turned-actress Jordin Sparks in the forthcoming motion picture drama, “The Inevitable Defeat of Mister And Pete.” According to Deadline.com, the film, which is directed by George Tillman Jr. and produced by Alicia Keys, will tell the story of two inner-city kids who are forced to care for themselves after their mothers are taken away by authorities. Hudson’s involvement in the film comes just weeks after the former “American Idol” finalist announced her role as a Broadway star in the upcoming season of the television musical drama series “Smash.” “It’s just the perfect opportunity,” she said during a interview with the Associated Press. “It’s gonna be challenging, and I’m a little bit intimidated to play this big Broadway star, but it’s gonna be a great experience. But the newly minted XXL cover star — he’s joined by 10 other upstarts for the magazine’s annual Freshman issue — intended to impress with much more than his breakout number. His track “Patty Cake” has been gaining air play. “I got another song on the radio on [L.A.’s] Power 106. It’s a club banger, but it sounds different than ‘Toot It and Boot It,’ ” YG told MTV News. “I’m just waiting on the label to get behind it. Everybody in L.A. is feeling it. “I got some songs. I got some hits,” he added. “I just got to get my label behind me. I’m all the way on the West Coast. So they gotta feel it, they got to get the buzz. So I got to go through the same thing I did with ‘Toot It and Boot It.’ ” Currently, the inked-up rapper is working on his next mixtape, the forthcoming Just Re’d Up, featuring guest spots by Chris Brown, Tyga and Nipsey Hussle, among others, and hosted by DJ Ill Will and DJ Mustard.
