However, the pink-tressed raptress recently scored a team-up that was unexpected, even for her: a track with British songstress Natasha Bedingfield. The singer explained to Billboard.com that although she may be known Stateside as the crooner behind the delicate pop anthem “Unwritten,” she’s well-versed in the hip-hop game. (Incidentally, the pop song became the theme of MTV’s “The Hills,” a show that counted Minaj among its fans . “With Nicki, I come from London and we’ve got a heavy influence in hip-hop,” Bedingfield said. “She called me and was like, ‘I’d love for you to sing on this. I’m a huge fan,’ and I was instantly like, ‘I’ll do this.’ ” Bedingfield gushed that the lyrics Minaj penned made an instant impression on her. In another ironic twist of fate, the songbird laid down her “Last Chance” contribution in the lab of another Minaj collaborator, Eminem, while on the road in Detroit. Bedingfield added that she picked up on the Motor City luminary’s energy. “I heard the song she’d written and it gave me goose bumps. I was like, ‘I’ve got to be on that,’ ” she recalled. “I was in Detroit, doing some promotion, so I went into Eminem’s studio and it was amazing, really catching off Eminem’s vibe. He wasn’t there, but his studio is great.” Fans can check out Minaj and Bedingfield’s collaboration on the lyricist’s recently released Pink Friday album, while the songbird’s forthcoming album, Strip Me, will be available on December 7. By Mawuse Ziegbe Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani Photo: ABC Audrina Patridge has always kept a slender figure during her six seasons on MTV’s beachside drama “The Hills,” but she’s really feeling the burn in her latest reality role. Patridge is part of the latest cast of celebs to wiggle into some sequins and twirl around the dance floor on “Dancing With the Stars.” Even though the season has just started, the starlet said working the classic ballroom-dance moves has already paid off. “I would say I’m in the best shape of my life,” Patridge told Us Weekly. “Dancing is so different than going to the gym. I’m going to be so sad when it’s over!” Patridge isn’t swooning because she’s dropping pounds; she’s amped because she’s packing on muscle and scoring major definition. “I feel more toned and more defined, for sure,” she said. “I have maintained my weight, but I’m really, really defining my muscles and toning up,” adding, “I am excited! I have so much energy!” Patridge, who grooved onto the parquet first alongside partner Tony Dovolani on Monday’s season 11 kickoff, might be enjoying her new look but did admit to stressing about breaking in the dance floor. “It was because they didn’t really know what to expect from everyone, so we were the first ones out there setting the standards. But it was so much fun,” Patridge told MTV News of kicking things off Monday. “It was nerve-racking being the first ones out. It was so much fun. Now, I’m more comfortable with the setting and being on set and the live audience. By Jocelyn Vena Tony Dovolani and Audrina Patridge Photo: ABC Lo Bosworth always had Audrina Patridge ‘s back on “The Hills,” but she might be siding with another MTV star when it comes to who she thinks has a better shot on “Dancing With the Stars,” which kicks off its new season Monday night (September 20). “I think the Situation might have some moves that we don’t know about,” she told MTV News earlier this month on the VMA white carpet. “I’m looking forward to seeing it.” Aside from her new allegiance to the star of “Jersey Shore,” Bosworth is sure that Patridge will have the skills to pay the bills, or at the very least make it to the finals of the show. “I think she’s gonna do well,” she said. “I know that she really focuses on the task and tries to get it done, so I think it’s her drive that’ll take it through.” Patridge is set to kick off the dance competition with partner Tony Dovolani. She said that the dance pro is helping her through the process. “He is amazing,” she said. “He’s such a great teacher. He’s very professional, and we have a lot of fun together. It’s really fun. I look forward to going to rehearsal every day.” So, what has Dovolani been doing to make sure that Patridge keeps up her confidence as a newbie dancer? Well, he gave her a good-luck charm. “Tony is an amazing teacher — he just gets me. We’re both really goofy, but focused and serious at the same time. Arizona Governor’s Jan Brewer MELT DOWN!

From a Politico.com The federal government has posted signs along a major interstate highway in Arizona, more than 100 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border, warning travelers the area is unsafe because of drug and alien smugglers, and a local sheriff says Mexican drug cartels now control some parts of the state. The signs were posted by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) along a 60-mile stretch of Interstate 8 between Casa Grande and Gila Bend, a major east-west corridor linking Tucson and Phoenix with San Diego. They warn travelers that they are entering an “active drug and human smuggling area” and they may encounter “armed criminals and smuggling vehicles traveling at high rates of speed.” Beginning less than 50 miles south of Phoenix, the signs encourage travelers to “use public lands north of Interstate 8” and to call 911 if they “see suspicious activity.” Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, whose county lies at the center of major drug and alien smuggling routes to Phoenix and cities east and west, attests to the violence. He said his deputies are outmanned and outgunned by drug traffickers in the rough-hewn desert stretches of his own county. “Mexican drug cartels literally do control parts of Arizona,” he said. “They literally have scouts on the high points in the mountains and in the hills and they literally control movement. They have radios, they have optics, they have night-vision goggles as good as anything law enforcement has. “This is going on here in Arizona,” he said. “This is 70 to 80 miles from the border – 30 miles from the fifth-largest city in the United States.” He said he asked the Obama administration for 3,000 National Guard soldiers to patrol the border, but what he got were 15 signs. Arizona Gov. On Tuesday, Bristol Palin appeared on “Good Morning America” to talk about competing for the show’s coveted mirror-ball trophy. Palin, who will dance with two-time champ Mark Ballas, said that she agreed to do the show because she was looking to try something new. “I was excited to jump on board and be a part of something that was positive and fun, leave the drama behind and get out of there for a while and be in California,” she said. She did let her parents — one of whom is 2008 Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin — know about her new venture before it was announced. “I gave [my parents] a little bit of a heads-up, like, ‘Hey, Mom! I signed a contract with ‘Dancing with The Stars.’ ” Palin is looking forward to showing off a new side of herself. “I want people to see this side of me and my work ethic and see my personality,” she explained. “We’re starting from scratch. I’m really looking forward to getting outside of that box and doing something new. I am trying to coordinate myself and get some rhythm and stuff … it’s gonna be an awesome experience. Hard work is definitely going to have to be put into it. I want to have fun and, like I said, step outside my comfort zone.” Ballas had no doubt that he would eventually “pull out her dancing demon and get her going,” and he added that the two are still introducing themselves to one another. “I think you have to get to know each other as quickly as you can and learn about your partner cause everyone is different and everyone has different learning curves,” he said. “You have a few weeks to train … the main thing is to focus on yourself and make sure you’re happy with what you’re doing.” More couples will be announced on Wednesday on “Good Morning America.” The new season of “Dancing With The Stars” kicks off September 20.
