The top names in music and pop culture came together for a night of chart-topping craziness Sunday at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards. Without question, Britney Spears was the star of the night. Madonna and Stevie Wonder Honor Prince at Billboard Music Awards The pop singer’s return to early 2000s hotness made the most headlines – and deservedly so – in an event designed to produce them. But who actually took home the top prizes Sunday? Not Madonna’s Prince tribute , that’s for sure. (Sorry.) Heidi Montag Breaks Down, Says Mom "Ripped" Her Heart Out on The Hills

Back in 2010, Heidi Montag  underwent 10 cosmetic procedures , which was featured on the cover of People Magazine. When The Hills premiered, Montag's new look was a major storyline, and cameras captured her trip to Crested Butte, Colorado, where she would show her mother, Darlene the New Heidi Montag. Except…things didn't go as planned. “It’s very weird and awkward,” Darlene began after she and Montag sat down on the couch. “You risked your life to do the things that you did. You had an elective surgery that was completely unnecessary,” Darlene went on. “I feel like when you left home, you had more confidence and self-esteem than anyone I had ever met.” Montag was searching for a more positive response, not prepared for what her mother was about to admit. “How do I say that I thought you were more beautiful before?” Darlene asked her daughter. “But, yes. I thought you were much more beautiful before. I’m hoping some of this will fade and go away.” Things quickly soured between them, and now – thanks to Lifetime's new show, The Mother/Daughter Experiment: Celebrity Edition – we get to see them heal. Yay! “Darlene, how does it feel that Heidi thinks you sold her out,” the therapist asked. “I was just desperate to communicate with her in any way, and I just thought that was the only way I could do it.  I would do anything to be able to take that back,” Darlene admitted. “I honestly felt like you ripped my heart out of my soul when I needed you so badly,” Montag said through tears. The series premieres tonight at 10pm on Lifetime.

Harper Lee Dies; To Kill a Mockingbird Author Was 89

Harper Lee – the author best known for the iconic 1960 novel To Kill a Mockingbird – has passed away at the age of 89. A county coroner confirmed today that Lee passed away at an assisted living facility in Monroeville – the small Alabama town that she called home throughout most of her life. In addition to winning the Pulitzer Prize and serving as the basis of a classic film, To Kill a Mockingbird  has become a perennial favorite in both classrooms and bookstores. Astonishingly, 56 years after its publication, the book still sells over one million copies every year. The book’s themes of racial injustice and the importance of aiding the oppressed have helped it remain continuously relevant – and widely beloved – throughout several generations. Lee was a lifelong friend of author Truman Capote (the character of Dill in Mockingbird  is based on a young Capote) and she assisted him in researching his famous “non-fiction novel” In Cold Blood . Despite spending much of her life avoiding the spotlight, Lee made headlines last year with the news that a sequel to Mockingbird entitled  Go Set a Watchman  would be released several decades after it was penned. The controversial novel became an instant bestseller. Lee never married or had children, but she was fiercely beloved by the people of Monroeville – the tiny town that helped inspire one of the great literary works of the 20th Century. STEEEE-PHENNNN! We hope Laguna Beach alum Kristin Cavallari never, ever stops sharing throwback photos of her high school days. On February 19th, the mom-of-three and newly minted author posted an Instagram featuring ex-boyfriend Stephen Colletti. “Flipping through #BalancingInHeels is a little trip down memory lane,” she wrote.  “We were babies! Link in bio #LagunaBeach #HighSchool #TBT.” Cavallari talked about the MTV series that made her a reality star while promoting her new book, Balancing in Heels , which features not only self-hip tips for healthy living, but stories from her past that have helped her live a happier life. “This is the first time I’ve ever been this raw and this real,” she told Momtasti c. Cavallari dated Colletti, who was a year ahead of her in high school.  Their tumultuous relationship, including a love triangle with Lauren Conrad, was captured for the cameras “It’s funny because on Laguna Beach I came off like the person who really had my sh*t together but I was a mess–like most teenagers,” Cavallari admitted.  “I was really unhappy. There’s a saying that you have to learn to love yourself before anyone else can love you, and it’s very true.” The show, Cavallari revealed, “was really our lives being manipulated by being put in situations we never would have been in normally.” Cavallari missed her ten-year high school reunion back in November due to the birth of her third child (and first girl), Saylor James.

The Hills’ gruesome twosome, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, are still warring with Lauren Conrad, who they describe as a ruthless, bitter individual. And a sex tape star. In a new interview with Complex, the dastardly duo reveals that their infamous reality TV beef endures to this day, and they stand by their stories. In 2008, rumors circulated that a Lauren Conrad sex tape, co-starring drunken bad boy co-star and significant other Jason Wahler, existed. It would be the Holy Grail of sex tapes. If it were a real thing, that is. Conrad denied it, then produced one of the epic quotes in Hills history when she called out Heidi for spreading the alleged lie: “You know what you did!” Montag maintains that the Conrad sex tape does exist, however. “Today, I’d be like, ‘Bitch, you know what you did,'” she said. Spencer was even more blunt in his assessment of LC: “Lauren is a cold-hearted killer. That’s what people don’t get. She will cut you in your sleep. She tried to destroy us. If you want to throw missiles?” “Then I’m throwing a nuke. This is how I operate.” Pratt also blamed Conrad for the fact that he currently isn’t on speaking terms with either his own mother or his sister, Stephanie Pratt . It says a lot when your mom and sister are taking the side of your ex-friend, and you don’t take a hint, but that’s Spencer Pratt for you. “My mom’s a Lauren supporter,” he confessed . “She’s like, ‘Mark Cuban says on Shark Tank that you shouldn’t help your kids.’ I’m like, ‘Mark Cuban can go jump off a freaking cliff for all I care.'” Whatever that means. Heidi, for her part, has softened her stance, and seems to have moved on a little bit more from The Hills and this charade than Spencer has. In fact, in a February 2015 episode of Marriage Boot Camp , Heidi “forgave” Lauren for ruining her life in a cathartic reality TV moment for the ages. Moving stuff.
