Police did not have the right to stop a car being driven by President Barack Obama’s uncle before his drunken-driving arrest, his lawyer said in court Thursday. Attorney P. Scott Bratton said during a brief appearance in Framingham District Court that he plans next month to file a motion to suppress the traffic stop that led Onyango Obama’s arrest in August. “He wasn’t committing any motor vehicle violations at the time. That’s our position,” Bratton said. Obama, the 67-year-old half brother of the president’s late father, has pleaded not guilty to charges of operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failure to yield the right of way. Obama did not speak in court Thursday. A hearing on his lawyer’s suppression request is scheduled for Jan. 12. Obama was arrested in Framingham, about 20 miles west of Boston, after police said he rolled through a stop sign and nearly caused a cruiser to strike his SUV. Police said Obama, an illegal immigrant, failed several sobriety tests and blew a reading of 0.14 percent on a blood-alcohol breath test, above the state’s legal driving limit of 0.08 percent. Despite being an illegal immigrant, it appears that Mr. Obama has a good grasp on how things work here in America… After being booked at the police station, police said Obama was asked whether he wanted to make a telephone call to arrange for bail. “I think I will call the White House,” he stated, according to a police report. Guess he finally ran out of sorry’s… TMZ reports : “American Idol” champ Ruben Studdard has filed for divorce, TMZ has learned. The Velvet Teddy Bear (who won Season 2 back in 2003) filed the papers in Alabama … citing — what else — “irreconcilable differences.” Ruben and his wife Surata Zuri McCants tied the knot in 2008. They have no kids. A rep for Studdard tells us, “Ruben and Zuri have gone their separate ways.” Aww! How sad for them. Then again… maybe Zuri was never really the marrying type . This time it was Kenan — not Kel — who said “I do, I do, I do, I do ooh!” Saturday Night Live’s Kenan Thompson married model Christine Evangeline on Friday, sources confirm to Us Weekly. The 33-year-old comedian said “I do” in the Arctic Room of the George Aquarium in Atlanta, and Nick Cannon even headed south to DJ and do some MCing! “[They’re] very happy. They’ve lived together as a couple and were excited to share the moments with close friends,” says a source. “She was thrilled and a beautiful bride.” The bride wore a chic silky white gown with a long trail for the ceremony, then changed into a ruffled, strapless white dress for the festivities after. “Being in the rented out aquarium made the night even more magical,” a source tells Us. “Christina loved the dolphins.” Before Thompson joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 2003, he was a fan favorite on Nickelodeon’s sketch comedy show All That from 1994-1999. This broad and her house of lies…SMH According to TMZ reports : Kim Kardashian is lying about how she gets all that hair off her body … this according to a new lawsuit. Kim is the hairless face of TRIA, a home laser hair-removal system. Radiant, a rival company that sells no!no! hair, claims Kim has deceived the public with her pitch, specifically … – Kim claims she uses TRIA over her entire body, but Radiant maintains even TRIA says it’s not safe for the face, head, ears, neck, nipples, genitals or anus. – Kim touts TRIA by claiming “You’ll never need razors or shaving cream again.” But according to the lawsuit, TRIA’s instructions note the product is supposed to be used in concert with shaving. – Kim has said numerous times she’s been getting professional hair removal treatments for more than a decade, so Radiant wants to know how she can possibly say TRIA is her secret. Radiant wants TRIA and Kim to stop making the false claims … and is seeking unspecified damages. For her fourth Black in America documentary, O’Brien asks why, according to industry analyst CB Insights, less than one percent of all venture capital money went to digital startups with African-American founders in 2010 – and she profiles a unique, technology-focused “accelerator” developed to help African-American digital entrepreneurs secure funding to establish their businesses. Black in America: The New Promised Land – Silicon Valley will debut on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 8:00p.m. ET & PT and replay on Nov. 13 at 11:00p.m. ET & PT. It will also replay on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 8:00p.m. and 11:00p.m. ET & PT on CNN/U.S. The NewMe accelerator program, founded by friends Angela Benton and Wayne Sutton, is a collaborative of African-American start-up founders with Internet-based businesses – the first such business accelerator of its kind.
