Kevin Clash, the Man Behind Elmo, on Jim Henson, Puppetry, and Jason Segel’s The Muppets

The Muppets are legendary TV and film characters, but there’s something about Sesame Street ‘s giggliest resident, Elmo, that makes small children perk up. Constance Marks, the director of the new documentary Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey , put Elmo’s appeal this way: “Kids sit up, pay attention, and turn on. There’s that bright red fur and adorable bulgy eyes, but it’s the soul of the puppeteer that people are responding to. It’s an amazing gift.”

Watch Kermit and Miss Piggy Out-Act WWE Stars In Awkward Muppets Throwdown

Following in Hugh Jackman’s Real Steel -shilling footsteps , the Muppets headed over to the WWE’ s Monday Night Raw last night to promote their upcoming movie. Surprisingly, Muppets meet Monday Night Raw almost worked…when the inanimate Jim Henson gang wasn’t out-acting WWE’ s regulars.

New Toy Story Short to Precede The Muppets in Theaters

Disney’s D23 Expo just unleashed a delightful tidbit: The Muppets , which we’re suddenly craving , will play in theaters this November with a new Toy Story short called Small Fry . Earlier this year, Cars 2 premiered with a Toy Story Toon about Ken and Barbie’s Hawaiian Vacation . Any plot guesses for this one? I’m hoping Bo Peep returns bearing, like, 13 Fisher Price Little People children. [ /Film ]

5 Reasons a Fraggle Rock Movie Could be Better Than a Muppet Reboot

A few key things unite my generation of nostalgic pop culture devotees: a fondness for early ’90s Nickelodeon series that played in reruns until the latter part of the decade; firm opinions about which season of The Real World is best; and an absolutely feigned remembrance of Fraggle Rock , the ’80s HBO series that replayed for a short time on the Disney Channel, and now makes you look cool if you reference it right.

The 13 Most Anticipated Movies and TV Shows of 2011 — Dixon’s Picks

As 2010 wends its way to its eternal pasture, we can reflect on the movies and television we so hotly anticipated back in the early suckling days of this year. Some, like Toy Story 3 and The Walking Dead, turned out even better than we had hoped. Others, well, others were Alice in Wonderland . But like Charlie Brown, we can’t help but line up in front of the football again and again, each year, because maybe this time will be different. Here are my picks for the 13 Most Anticipated Movies and TV Shows of 2011.

Rush Limbaugh Gets Help From the Golf Channel

Finally, newlywed Rush Limbaugh is ready to move forward with his sports career. The Golf Channel has enlisted the conservative commentator to star in the network’s third season of The Haney Project ; he’ll be the “Project” part of the title, as coach Hank Haney spends an entire season improving Limabugh’s golf game. If you recall, Limbaugh’s last foray into the sports world did not end well: he resigned from ESPN in 2003 shortly after he was accused of making racist comments while working as a professional football commentator. The Muppets Nabs Christmas 2011 Date

Someone alert Joe Biden ! Disney announced a release date today for the big-screen kinda-reboot The Muppets : December 25, 2011. It’ll be directed by James Bobin from a script by Jason Segel and Nick Stoller, and though Segel will be in the cast, Charles Grodin definitely won’t be . Perhaps they could fill his absence with a role for noted Muppet-phile Lady Gaga ? [ Coming Soon ]
