I’m aware that I say this a lot, but I have no idea who this Katie Cleary chick is. I’m the worst. Obviously she’s some sort of swimsuit model or wannabe reality TV star, why else would she be at the beach posing alone in front of a photographer? Whoever she is, she’s got my attention with those hot little over the shoulder booty shots. I love that kind of thing. Women should be obliged to have all their pictures taken that way, passport, driver’s license… All of them. Hot.

Journalist and Reason contributor Michael Tracey is covering New York’s Occupy Wall Street as it’s happening. Above is footage he shot today (October 14, 2011) as the protesters marched through the street of Manhattan and had various stand-offs with the New York Police Department. Tracey himself reports being punched in the shoulder while filming. Breaking!: Waka Flocka & His Blood Gang Detained After Shootout In Front Of Tour Bus! [Video]

Rapper Waka Flocka, his brother and one person who was not with Waka Flocka and his entourage have all been detained after a shooting in east Charlotte. They are not under arrest at this point. Police say there was a shootout outside the Car Stereo Warehouse, located on Independence Boulevard between Coliseum Drive and Eastway Drive. One person was hit by the bullet and driven to Carolinas Medical Center. That person was shot in the shoulder and his injuries are not life threatening. Police are talking to a number of people at the scene and say they are getting conflicting stories.

On DVD: Isabelle Huppert Tests the Limits in Harrowing Home

Nobody makes movies about crazy families like the French, and Ursula Meier’s Home (2008) is a fresh, mysterious entry in the Post-Modern Family Blues derby, hyperreal to the touch but keeping symbolic secrets. It’s officially a Swiss movie, but I think only because Meier, who’s French, could only find her remarkable location in Switzerland: a lonely, nondescript brick house sitting on the shoulder of a huge expanse of decommissioned highway. The layout, house and road both, are so stark and odd they’re like found objects out of a Surrealist painting.
