Shouse. We have been provided an official statement via the former American Idol winner’s rep that reads, “Fantasia Barrino is currently involved in a Child Custody, Visitation, and Child Support legal proceeding filed in Mecklenburg, North Carolina. The lawsuit was filed by Me. Brandel J. Shouse, the father of Fantasia’s 13-year-old daughter Zion. Despite living in North Carolina, Mr. Shouse had very little personal contact with Zion and has provided no financial support for her. The case will not be heard until 2015. Drunken Depressed Robin Thicke Has Been Slizzard On The Party Scene Almost Every Night Since Paula Patton Filed For Divorce

What’s love got to do with it ? This guy has been on one for a minute. New Report Says Robin Thicke Has Been Drinking And Partying Nonstop Since Split From Paula Patton According to InTouchWeekly reports : Robin Thicke recently made a shocking admission during his deposition for a lawsuit claiming he lifted his hit “Blurred Lines” from Marvin Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up,” confessing he “was high on Vicodin and alcohol” when the song was created. Now, In Touch has learned that the singer’s drinking is still spiraling out of control. “He’s been drinking and partying almost every night since splitting with Paula. He’s trying to numb the pain of losing the love of his life.” And it’s beginning to worry those close to him — and has even caught the attention of his estranged wife, Paula Patton. “She, his parents and his record company tried to stage an intervention several months ago, but he simply refused,” a source exclusively reveals to In Touch. However, not even Paula can get through to him. An eyewitness who saw Robin partying with Leonardo DiCaprio at LA’s 1Oak on Sept. 6, tells In Touch: “A drink never left his hand the whole night. He wasn’t his usual animated self. While their table was filled with beautiful women, he stayed off to the side, looking depressed.” Seriously though, we seem to recall Paula talking about Robin’s wayward ways WAY back in the day before she hit it big in her first movie. She was telling Oprah how he was getting high and stuff and almost lost himself. He has substance abuse problems that we hope he takes more seriously than just owning up in a legal deposition. WENN

Let Him Play? Ray Rice Fights Back Against NFL Suspension

Do you think he has a case? Ray Rice Considers Legal Action Over Loss Of NFL Contract Ray Rice is fighting back against the NFL’s indefinite suspension and the cancellation of his contract by the Baltimore Ravens in response to his brutal knockout of his then-fiancee and current wife Janay Palmer. Apparently he feels like he’s getting punished twice for the same offense, and it just isn’t fair. Much like being hit twice in the face … Via DailyMail : Ray Rice is fighting back against the NFL one week after video of him punching his then-fiancée Janay Palmer in an Atlantic City casino elevator went public. Rice, 27, is expected to file an appeal with the help of the NFL Players’ Association and an outside attorney later today, claiming he notified both the Baltimore Ravens and the NFL about his altercation back in June of this year. The running back was originally just handed down a two-game suspension as a result of his actions in July for violating the NFL personal conduct policy. Rice must file his appeal by 11:59 pm on Tuesday, three business days after NFL commissioner Roger Goodell officially notified the players’ union of his indefinite suspension. Sources tell The Baltimore Sun that the football star is also considering possible legal action following his increased discipline from the league, feeling that he has been punished twice for the same offense. In his letter to the Player’s Association on Friday explaining Rice’s new punishment, Goodell wrote, ‘This video shows a starkly different sequence of events from what you and your representatives stated when we met on June 16, and is important new information that warrants reconsideration of the discipline imposed on you in July.’ The commissioner added, ‘Based on this new information, I have concluded that the discipline imposed upon you in July was insufficient under all the circumstances and have determined instead to impose an indefinite suspension.’ There has been some debate however over how much Goodell knew of the situation prior to last Monday, with one anonymous New Jersey law enforcement official saying last week he personally sent a tape of the incident to an NFL executive in April. Multiple sources close to Rice also back up the story that the athlete was honest and upfront about the events that took place in that elevator last February when he met with Goodell in June. Furthermore, under Article 46, Section 4 of the NFL collective bargaining agreement, it states, ‘The Commissioner and a Club will not both discipline a player for the same act or conduct. The Commissioner’s disciplinary action will preclude or supersede disciplinary action by any Club for the same act or conduct.’ Prior to his suspension by the NFL Monday afternoon, Rice had his five-year, $35 million contract with the Baltimore Ravens terminated, losing $3.529 million in salary for the season.

Race Matters: Study Shows Black Women Are More Likely To Be Obese Because They Don’t Believe They’re Fat

Why do Black women have a higher obesity demographic than any other ethnicity in America ??? Study Shows Black Women Are More Likely To Be Obese Despite anti-immigration propaganda, the most recent U.S. census revealed that 77 percent of the American population classifies themselves as white. Although black people only make up 13 percent of the nation’s population, black women have a higher obesity demographic than any other group. Via Medical Daily reports: In order to understand the female black community’s perception of weight, health, and beauty, researchers investigated, and what they found is truly eye-opening. In a study led by Elizabeth Lynch from Rush University in Illinois, a team of researchers recruited the help of 69 black women. According to a recent press release, although the women involved all shared similar economic backgrounds, lifestyles, and ages, they had various body sizes ranging from underweight to obese. Researchers purposely used such a range in order to determine whether black women’s perception of weight was based on their own body size or on shared cultural beliefs. Results, published in the Journal of Nutrition, Education, and Behavior, showed that regardless of their weight all women involved in the study agreed over which figures in the Body Image Scale were overweight, obese, and too fat. Although most agreed that figures six through nine were overweight, few went onto agree that these overweight figures were also too fat. The majority did, however, classify figures eight and nine as obese and too fat. Rather than outright ask the women if they viewed their own bodies as healthy or overweight, the researchers asked the women to match their own figures with the images they had previously categorized. This is where the experiment got interesting. In total, 56 percent of overweight women (BMI 25 or greater) and 40 percent of obese women (BMI 30 or greater) did not classify their own bodies as overweight, obese, or too fat. Astonishingly, only 30 percent of the women who were medically categorized as obese actually viewed their figures as too fat. In fact, it seemed that the generally accepted overweight BMI numbers in the black female participants (BMI of 35) was 10 figures over that accepted by doctors. In an interesting coincidence, it was observed that those are the exact figures recent studies have shown to be the point when weight begins to threaten lifespan. This coincidence may be explained by Lynch’s observation that weight loss in the black community is more driven by the desire to be healthy and stay off medicine than lose pounds. While the exact figures of black women with eating disorders are unknown, studies have shown that these disorders are somewhat rare among black females, Psychology Today reported. According to Lynch, black and white women generally have differing views on weight and beauty. “Research suggests that for white women the concept of beauty is heavily influenced by body size, and body size is also linked tightly to self-esteem. For black women, though, beauty is defined less by body size, and it’s defined more in terms of things like personal style,” Lynch explained in a podcast provided by The Journal of Nutrition, Education, and Behavior. In layman’s terms, Lynch explained that, based on her studies, it seems to be easier for black women to be “big and beautiful” than it is for women belonging to other ethnic backgrounds. While the idea of body confidence and the low numbers of black females with eating disorders may be something noteworthy, there is a point where this body acceptance begins to endanger one’s health. “The fact that women felt that overweight body sizes were not too fat suggests that being told they are overweight, even by a physician, may not be sufficient motivation for them to attempt weight loss,” Lynch explained in the press release. Instead, ethnically sensitive diet programs may prove more effective in bringing about real weight loss results in black women. Lynch suggests using visual aids rather than terms and numbers to explain obesity and future weight loss goals. This would erase any misunderstanding between doctors and patients and perhaps help the patient better understand the severity of their health issue. Discuss….
