Danielle Staub to Teresa Giudice: Foreclose This!

Danielle Staub has two messages for Teresa Giudice: Told you so! Avoid payday loans, no money down mortgages and be smart with your money. That’s the basic reaction this reality star has for her Real Housewives of New Jersey castmate, as Giudice faces serious bankruptcy and financial problems . Speaking to reporters about Teresa’a $11 million debt this week, Staub said: “I’m going to tell her what I told her before – your house is in foreclosure. I wasn’t lying and you did know… I think people need to spend within their means and if you don’t know what you have, you need to communicate with your husband.” This is easily the most sane Danielle has ever sounded. Staub and Giudice went at it on the amazing July 13 episode of this Bravo show, as seen above. Since then, Teresa has gone on The View and said her husband, Joe, never said a word about their impending foreclosure. But that’s a lame excuse, Danielle says, adding: “One thing that comes with marriage is that it’s fifty-fifty. It is your responsibility to know these things. You can’t just throw him under the bus… That’s not cool.” In the end, Staub has profound advice for all the Real Housewives: “Be very humble, be grateful for the opportunities that have been given to you and try to teach your children that hard work is definitely something that becomes lucrative to you in the end.” In the rear end , she means, as Danielle knows from personal, videotaped experience .

Michaele Salahi Mistreated by The View, Attorney Whines

Whoopi Goldberg did not hit Michaele Salahi when that attention-starved waste of space appeared on The View yesterday. Let’s get that fact straight. Earlier reports claimed that this Real Housewives of Washington D.C. cast member had accused the host of making such a violent gesture, but attorney Lisa Bloom tells EW.com her client never made the allegation. However, Bloom is outraged over the disrespectful way in which she says Salahi was treated during her appearance on the talk show, which included numerous references to her “crashing” the White House and a bizarre cameo by Goldberg, who grabbed Michaele’s arm (saying “Excuse me, would you get back to the White House, please?”) and then rushed off stage. You can watch the six-minute segment and then take in what Bloom said about it in a statement below: Michaele Salahi on The View “It’s not appropriate for another host to come up from behind her and ask her, the guest, to change the subject. If Whoopi didn’t like the way the interview was going, she should have told Sherri or Joy or one of the producers,” Bloom said, adding that Goldberg cursed her client out in the dressing room backstage. Bloom then defended Salahi’s White House incident in general: “She was never charged with a crime. The U.S. attorney in Washington D.C. released a statement saying they’ve never committed a crime and have never been charged. But I guess the people at The View feel otherwise. Without reviewing any of the evidence, they’ve decided that they are going to smear her. It’s unprofessional.” Bloom and Salahi can cry themselves a river of this treatment, but The Real Housewives of Washington D.C. premieres tonight on Bravo – and they should send Goldberg a bouquet of flowers after the inevitably strong ratings come in.

Are The View Producers Muzzling Conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck While Allowing Joy Behar Free Rein?

On June 15, 2010, View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck declined to fight with lefist comedienne Kathy Griffin, who was appearing on that day’s show. This despite the fact that the entertainer had previously had previously slammed the conservative as a “f—ing Survivor reject.” Hasselbeck demurred, “It’s cool, we’re cool.” The host remained quiet, even as Griffin taunted her by mocking, “Bring it.”  Yet, on July 15, 2010, liberal Joy Behar showed no such restraint with conservative radio star Laura Ingraham. The two got into a heated discussion over whether wearing a burqa in society is acceptable. Behar lectured, “Then all religions subjugate women.” Earlier, Behar responded to a Ingraham joke by proclaiming, “I don’t want anybody to think you know me.” A transcript of the two exchanges can be found below: July 14, 2010 JOY BEHAR: You know what? I think it’s so wrong to do that to people. People really want their religious freedom, whether their Muslim, Jewish or Christian. And they should be allowed to wear a cross, and a star, and a burqa if they have to. LAURA INGRAHAM: But that’s different from covering your whole face, Joy. BEHAR: Why, why? That’s what they do! INGRAHAM: Why does grandma have to undo her walker at the TSA line at the airport but someone could go through fully covered up with just slits for their eyes? That’s the point of subjugation. You’re for women. BEHAR: I’m not sure they should go through security that way. They’re talking about people just walking around. INGRAHAM: Public places. Yes, yes. Public places. We go into airports. BEHAR: But they’re also saying it’s against women, that is subjugates women. INGRAHAM: It is subjugating to women. BEHAR: Then all religions subjugate women. INGRAHAM: Oh, that’s a crock. That is ridiculous. BEHAR: Are you kidding me? INGRAHAM: Lump every religion together and every facet of every religion together. I’m sorry, I wear a cross. This does not subjugate, okay? This is liberating. BEHAR: No women priests are allowed in the priesthood, for example. (Applause) INGRAHAM: Okay, notice how this has become an indictment for the Catholic Church. Why are you clapping for that? BEHAR: Wait a second. In a Jewish synagogue, the women, in orthodox, have to sit upstairs, they’re not allowed on the floor with the men. They have to wear a schriedel (sc?) to cover their heads. I mean, every religion has something. June 15, 2010 ELISABETH HASSELBECK: You’ve said things about people here that are a) untrue and b) not so funny. So do you ever feel weird like then coming here and saying, sitting here, you know, promoting things. KATHY GRIFFIN: Actually this moment is what I live for so bring it. HASSELBECK: I know. I know. (Applause) HASSELBECK: Sadly, I have a debate in my head whether feeding your curious fire there. GRIFFIN: This is how I write my act. HASSELBECK: It’s cool, we’re cool. GRIFFIN: I’m cool if you’re cool. I think it’s all for a joke. HASSELBECK: It’s all cool. GRIFFIN: Is there anything else you’d like to say, Elisabeth? Because this is just getting good.

Whoopi Goldberg Defends Mel Gibson: ‘He’s Not a Racist’

Mel Gibson scored his first major defender today in Whoopi Goldberg, who says she’s spent enough time with the disgraced actor to know that his racial slurs that have come to light are misleading . “I don’t like what he did here, but I know Mel and I know he’s not a racist,” Goldberg said on The View . That didn’t sit well with Joy Behar — or most people in the entire world, I’m supposing. Video after the jump, God help us.

The Wrong View: Talk Show Under Fire for HIV-Related Comments

This is a first: The View is facing controversy, and it’s NOT over something Elisabeth Hasselbeck said. In fact, that conservative commentator – whose most recent example of opinionated nonsense involved a shot at Erin Andrews – has nothing to do with why GLADD is taking aim at this ABC talk show. Instead, the organization has its sights set on Sherri Shepherd and D.L. Hughley, the June 22 guest host. On that date, the pair talked about the influx of HIV among African-Americans and blamed it on gay black men that were in the closet, aka “on the down low.” “When you look at the prevalence of HIV in the African American community, it’s primarily young women who are getting it from men who are on the down low,” Hughley said. Added Shepherd, offering no data to back up her assertion: “It’s so big in the black community with women because they’re having sex with men who have been having sex with men.” In response, GLADD has taken out a full-page ad in Variety that reads: “The Centers for Disease Control has publicly disproven this myth. And since June 22, thousands of people have written to ABC, asking that The View provide correct information to viewers. Unfortunately, those requests have been greeted with silence from both ABC and The View .” Panelists on the show are known for expressing their opinions and have the right to speak their minds, of course. But when making grand claims such as the one above, it would nice if they relied on facts to support their statements.

Rosie O’Donnell Getting New Show On NBC?

The rumor mill concerning Rosie O’Donnell landing a new daytime show heated up Monday when Gossip Cop reported the comedienne is in talks with NBC. Apparently, the stumbling block is that the broadcasting company wants an out clause in case Rosie has a blow up like she did on ABC’s “The View.” As NewsBusters reported on May 23, 2007, O’Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck got into quite a fight about the war in Iraq that was so caustic it ended up being Rosie’s last day on the show. She and ABC agreed to terminate her contract days later. With this in mind, according to Gossip Cop, NBC isn’t taking any chances: The show, as we  previously reported , is looking to launch in the fall of 2011, and will be produced by  Robert F. Kennedy ‘s documentary filmmaking daughter,  Rory Kennedy , along with TV veterans  Dick Robertson   and  Scott Carlin . But there’s one sticking point, says our impeccable insider. According to our source, “NBC wants an out if she implodes like she did on ‘The View.'”  If this is correct, one certainly can’t blame NBC for wanting to hedge its bet. On the other hand, if you’re concerned about the behavior of someone you’re entering into a contract with, isn’t the wisest move to NOT put yourself in a position where said individual could end up embarrassing your organization? As such, why is NBC even considering this risk given O’Donnell’s background? Maybe the folks at NBC ought to watch this before they sign:

Kathy Griffin Cracks About Wasilla & Crystal Meth, Fights w/ Mom Who Loves Palin, O’Reilly, FNC

Appearing as a guest on Tuesday’s The View on ABC to promote her show on Bravo! – Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List – left-wing comedian Kathy Griffin took a shot at Sarah Palin by recalling her visit to Wasilla, Alaska – where Palin was once mayor – and by mocking the town by linking it to crystal meth: “I wanted to, you know, see what it’s really like because when Sarah Palin was telling us that she should run the whole country the way she runs Wasilla, I just had to go for myself. And if you like crystal meth, you’re gonna like Wasilla.” Griffin went on to admit that her mother – who sometimes takes part in her show on Bravo!, is a fan of Palin, Bill O’Reilly and Fox News. Griffin: “My mother, of course, loves her, and my mother loves Fox News and she loves Bill O’Reilly, and we get into big fights about it. She calls Bill O’Reilly her boyfriend because she’s crazy.” She then imitated her mother: “‘Stop being so hard on my boyfriend, Bill O’Reilly, Kathleen, for crying out loud. He’s Irish, for crying out loud.’ She loves Bill O’Reilly.” Below is a transcript of the relevant portion of the Tuesday, June 15, The View on ABC: KATHY GRIFFIN: I actually went to Wasilla, Alaska, because I played in Anchorage- KASSIE DEPAIVA, GUEST CO-HOST: Who lives there? GRIFFIN: My lover, Levi Johnston. Why? (AUDIENCE LAUGHTER) Are you suggesting that’s a relationship based on publicity? DEPAIVA: I’m not sure. I want you to tell me. GRIFFIN: All right, there’s a little age difference because, you know, he’s 19 and I’m 25 and a half. But, yes, I went to Wasilla, or “The Silla,” as he calls it, and I wanted to, you know, see what it’s really like because when Sarah Palin was telling us that she should run the whole country the way she runs Wasilla, I just had to go for myself. And if you like crystal meth, you’re gonna like Wasilla. … JOY BEHAR: I don’t think she likes you. GRIFFIN: I don’t think she’s a fan, although I did- DEPAIVA: You don’t know? Unlike your mother. GRIFFIN: You never know. She probably would like my mother. My mother, of course, loves her, and my mother loves Fox News and she loves Bill O’Reilly, and we get into big fights about it. She calls Bill O’Reilly her boyfriend because she’s crazy. (AUDIENCE LAUGHTER) SHERRI SHEPHERD: So, speaking of, when you say, going back to the Sarah Palin not liking you- GRIFFIN, IMITATING HER MOTHER: “Stop being so hard on my boyfriend, Bill O’Reilly, Kathleen, for crying out loud. He’s Irish, for crying out loud.” She loves Bill O’Reilly. BEHAR: Because he’s Irish. GRIFFIN: Yeah, but also she’s crazy.

Betty White on The View: Remembering Rue and The Golden Girls

Since Rue McClanahan’s passing on June 3, there’s one thing that’s been missing: the comforting coo of Rose Nylund herself, Betty White. Though White released a statement about her Golden Girls co-star immediately after her death, it wasn’t until today on The View that we were able to see her reflect on the duo’s halcyon days of lanais and pastel-colored pants. Video of White discussing the shock of McClanahan’s death (and her status as the last living Golden Girl) is after the jump.
