Six-minute-long prologue footage will reportedly only be shown at theaters with high-resolution 70mm IMAX screens. By Kevin P. As MTV News reported last week, there was a rumor circulating that a six-minute prologue to the upcoming Christopher Nolan Batman film, “The Dark Knight Rises,” would play before IMAX showings of “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.” The presentation was, in theory, supposed to be similar to the Joker’s reveal that played before IMAX screenings of “I Am Legend” in 2008. The rumor remained just that until theater chain AMC released a statement on their blog that reads: “The six-minute Dark Knight Rises prologue footage will only be shown on the higher resolution 70mm IMAX screens. Not the digital IMAX screens. Locations haven’t been confirmed yet, so stay tuned for an update on AMC Theatre locations that will be showing the prologue Dark Knight Rises footage at a 70mm IMAX screen nearest you.” AMC’s statement aligned with the original rumor that had been posted on /Film , but news of the clip only showing on the “higher resolution 70mm IMAX screens” was an unexpected bit of information, though not entirely surprising. Nolan is known for his meticulous control over his films, so insisting on the higher res for the preview makes sense. This detail from the AMC post may spell trouble for some fans. If the report is accurate, the prologue will play on far fewer screens than initially expected. The digital IMAX screens tend to be more common than the 70mm format ones, so some fans may have to travel further than expected for their first glimpse at “The Dark Knight Rises.” The post was the most solid confirmation yet about the footage, but it was soon removed. A new statement was issued by AMC, stating, “The information in this post has been retracted until further notice. Please refer to Warner Bros. for any information about The Dark Knight Rises.” If AMC was confident enough to confirm the rumors, the prologue seems like more or less a certainty. The redaction by Warner Bros. could have to do with how they typically release Batman info. With “The Dark Knight,” the “Why So Serious” marketing campaign involved highly complicated tasks that rewarded fans with content, like the Joker prologue. So it makes perfect sense that the O Music Awards 2 will pay musical tribute to Jobs at its October 31 blowout. The show, which will take place in Los Angeles, will feature a special musical nod to the man behind the iPod and iTunes, with a number of up-and-coming artists performing iconic songs in homage to Jobs’ huge contribution to digital music culture. MTV’s signature online awards show will also attempt to make it into the Guinness record books again by hosting the longest dance party in history , and there will be plenty of star wattage on hand to help celebrate should the dancers break the 55-hour barrier. The first slate of performers and presenters has been revealed, and it includes a mix of established stars and up-and-comers, including Kelly Clarkson, the Band Perry, Demi Lovato, Mac Miller, Midi Mafia and DJ Diamond Kuts. Additional performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks. The show, which celebrates the artists, innovators and fans impacting digital music culture, will be live-streamed from an undisclosed location in Los Angeles on October 31 beginning 11:30pm ET/ 8:30pm PT on OMusicAwards.com . The show’s opening will also be broadcast on MTV and then appear on a range of MTV Music Group websites, including MTV.com , VH1.com , CMT.com , LogoTV.com and MTVHive.com , as well as mobile. Since voting began on September 27, more than 6 million votes have been cast, and fans can keep voting at the O Music Awards site . The fan who drives the most votes wins an appearance on the live show. In addition, fans can participate via the O Music Awards Facebook page , Twitter and Tumblr . The “Longest Dance Party” event will be live-streamed at the O Music Awards site beginning on October 29 from the Roxy Theatre on Los Angeles’ famed Sunset Strip. The dance marathon won’t just be for bragging rights, as it will aim to raise awareness for LGBT youth issues, especially bullying, by giving fans a chance to donate to a number of organizations during the live stream. Among the groups that will benefit from the record attempt are: GLSE (the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network), It Gets Better , the Gay Straight Alliance Network (GSA), Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation). Viewers will also be able to use social media to support the cause and cheer on their favorite dancers. Beginning October 2, the G.O.O.D. Music MC will begin his I Am Finally Famous Tour, a 30-city run that concludes November 25 in Los Angeles. “I’m embarking on my first solo tour this fall, and I passed up a lot of good opportunities, but I’m still gonna be a part of those opportunities one way or another,” Sean told MTV News. “I really thought it was important to do my own solo tour.” The Detroit rapper most recently was out on the road with Wiz Khalifa as part of his Rolling Papers tour, and in the past he talked about the possibility of joining Jay-Z and Kanye West on their Watch the Throne run. Sean didn’t confirm or deny that he’ll hit the road with Hov and ‘Ye, but judging from the already announced WTT dates, Sean’s involvement in it looks unlikely. For this run, Sean tells MTV News that he’ll be hitting smaller venues so he can build a closer relationship with his fans. “I think that’s really important for my first time out. Building my tour base I really wanted to have something intimate, something people will remember forever,” he said. “I’m gonna put on a hell of a show. The 21st Annual NAACP Theatre Awards went down last night in Los Angeles where Raven-Symone received the Spirit Award for bringing energy, tenacity, innovation, commitment and talent to the local theater scene. (She starred in “Father’s Day” with Rosie Perez earlier this year). The “Salute To Black Theatre” event also brought out Diahann Carroll, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award. The veteran actress is a Tony Award Winner, Emmy and Grammy Nominee, Golden Globe Winner, and Best Actress Oscar Nominee. Host Niecy Nash and Wendy Raquel Robinson looked glamourous in white, while Jurnee Smollett and Jill Marie Jones wore brighter-hued frocks. Remember the Toronto Premiere of ‘Never Say Never’? Well that was probably the most stressful weekend of my life! It all started the day before my history exam when Kiss 92.5 announced they would be giving out tickets to the Toronto premiere of Never Say Never. I actually called in like 3485743890239854 times. It would ring sometimes, but most of the time it was just busy. Toronto Belieber’s are unreal; let’s just leave it at that. I had the week off school because I had just finished exams, and literally my entire break was spent working as hard as I possibly could to get tickets to the premiere. Kiss 92.5 was on in my house and every time they announced they were giving them away, all my friends and family would call in, but no luck. That’s when Muchmusic announced if you wanted tickets to see Bieber on Much that weekend come to the show on Tuesday. We went and it turned out they only had only 20 tickets, so they drew names from a hat, and neither of us won. I bawled my eyes out on the train ride home, knowing that the premiere was tomorrow and I didn’t have tickets. We tried to look on the bright side; there’s going to be other opportunities to see Justin, but we were really upset. Then Kiss announced that we still had 1 chance left. We had to go down to Dundas Square tomorrow with a sign involving Kiss 92.5 & Justin Bieber and the best signs would get tickets. That night, we actually didn’t sleep. We worked all night on a poster that was 3 bristol boards long, it had pop outs, glitter and a lot of hard work went into it. We woke up at 10am the next day, and with barley any sleep it was back on the train down to Toronto for that one shot at tickets to the premiere. We got to Dundas Square and it was packed with girls with AMAZING signs. We were just chilling in the -20 degree weather when this man came up to us and said “Don’t freak out, just meet me in AMC”. I was like, “Did we win” and he said “Yes, but don’t freak out”. I was flipping out in the calmest way possible as we made our way to the AMC across the street. There was a lady there who gave us our tickets and showed up wear to go. While we were in line we saw Chaz, Ryan and Mitch. It was so sweet. Then we got into the theatre and met Dan Kanter. He’s amazing. Then everyone had to go back to there seats and JUSTIN BIEBER came out and introduced Jon M Chu, and thanked us all for coming. They surprised Justin and brought out DRAKE. We couldn’t believe this was all happening less then 20 feet away from us. Justin then took his seat and they played the movie. Justin was sitting like only 5 rows away from us. Shoutout to Jon Chu on directing an incredible movie, that I will watch over and over again. IT WAS AMAZING. I would be watching the movie, and I would just turn to my friend and be like HOLY CRAP, Justin is right there! Ahhh! In the end it all worked out for us. We didn’t get to meet Justin, but the day was amazing. We went from not having tickets the day of the premiere to being there, with Justin and the rest of his amazing crew.
