Who would ever have thought that Robert Ludlum would have become the father of modern action cinema? The ruthless 2002 film adaptation of his novel The Bourne Identity — with the hero trying to figure who or what he (or she is), while amassing a body count that warrants coverage on CNN — is now the genre standard, and in this year alone, we’ve seen a number of variations on that theme. The most recent is director Joe Wright’s efficient and soulful Hanna , in which the title character (played by Saorise Ronan), a pale-skinned teenager with matching sandalwood hair and eyebrows, has mastered the art of contained chaos.
Penelope Cruz, who will be starring in yet another Woody Allen film , thanked the director during her 2009 Oscar acceptance speech for creating a number of great roles for women. She could’ve thanked him for creating great roles for a certain type of star: the thinking, compulsively relatable thespian who can balance with sophisticated ease with exasperation. Here are nine who deserve a spot in Woody Allen’s magnificent oeuvre.

Are you white? Then you’re not Eric Holder’s people. [Direct link] Holder concluded his comments saying that the Department of Justice doesn’t let race figure into its decisions. Even though race figures into his thinking, I suppose. But, perhaps he wasn’t lying. Perhaps he was telling the truth when he said race wasn’t a factor. Christina Aguilera is previewing her new video cuz she’s making a comeback…. It depresses me that Lady Gaga became such a big deal in music because now everyone is biting her style that she bit from Madonna in some kind of bullshit hipster fashionista claim that she’s a “performing artist” and that she pushed boundaries with her “House of Gaga”…. Not because I don’t like seeing these celebrities half naked fighting to get noticed, especially when they are Christina Aguilera and her breast implants, but because it just takes away the whole effect when I know this is her thinking Gaga’s way is the only way, essentially giving Gaga the credit she doesn’t fucking deserve just because she’s got a bunch of singles…. I don’t know how to make this make sense because I am a drunk, but what I am trying to say is that I hate that bitch can’t come up with her own act that is equally half naked while giving Gaga credit she doesn’t deserve and making herself look like a bottom feeding piece of trash, when really she paved the way for this bullshit… I don’t think that made it make more sense….but watch the preview and enjoy.
