Anne Hathaway: Give Jennifer Lawrence a Break, People!

Former “It Girl” Anne Hathaway has taken to Facebook to defend newly-fallen “It Girl” Jennifer Lawrence. Earlier this week, the Joy actress was criticized for scolding a journalist over staring at his phone during an interview with her after she won the award for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical. The internet got collectively pissed, deeming J. Law rude and out of line because the reporter was clearly foreign and may have been consulting his phone to translate the question. Today, Anne Hathaway swooped in to offer her thoughts on the controversy, writing: “Dear the Internet, It’s become pretty clear that the Jennifer Lawrence ‘scolding’ was taken out of context and that she was dryly joking with a journalist who was indeed using his phone to take photos of her.”  But the Les Miserables actress may have been calling attention to a larger issue. “Let’s not continue the sad but common practice of building people – especially women- up just to viciously tear them down when we perceive them to have misstepped. Jennifer is a beautiful, talented, wildly successful, popular, FOUR TIME OSCAR NOMINATED young woman. Please let us not punish her for these things. Sincerely, A J-Law fan ‪#‎supportstrongwomen‬ ‪#‎imwithher‬ ‪#‎whycantwegiveloveonemorechance‬” The day after the Globes, Mic ran an article entitled “We Have Reached Peak Jennifer Lawrence,” which basically declared Jen’s “It Girl” status as so over. Meaning, after a few years as America’s favorite cool girl for acting quirky, down-to-earth and relatable, J. Law was now a universally-hated bitch due to this one faux pas – even though she may not be to blame. “None of this is Lawrence’s fault,” opined the author, Kevin O’Keeffe. “This is how Hollywood works. Actresses are hot one second and annoying the next. Anne Hathaway, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Winslet can empathize.” We can only imagine Anne jumped out of her easy chair and responded with a resounding, “YES!!! Finally, somebody understands me!” Now maybe Annie and Jenny could grab Gwynnie and have a sleepover in which they eat Kit Kats Kourtney Kardashian-style and reminisce about the good ol’ days when they got one million faves on Twitter for posting “Good morning.” And maybe, just maybe, we can try and give these ladies a break.

David Foster: Stop Talking About My Marriage to Yolanda!

Everyone mind your own damn business. That’s the message David Foster is sending to the world after countless stories blame him for the end of David & Yolanda. Foster and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star announced their plans to divorce on December 1st, just a few hours before the Bravo show’s season premiere. “Over the past few weeks, a great deal of inaccurate or baseless information has been reported claiming to represent my thoughts and feelings,” David said in a statement to Us Weekly . “It is painful to watch this happen repeatedly — especially while trying to cope with the personal nature of the challenges surrounding the breakup of our loving marriage.” David and Yolanda wed in 2011 after dating for five years. “I have always had and continue to have the utmost respect and love for Yolanda, which is why it is so frustrating to see headlines questioning her chronic debilitating illness,” Foster added, referring to Yolanda’s fight against Lyme disease (she was diagnosed in 2012).  “I have been by Yolanda’s side over the past four years to the best of my ability as she battled with the complexities of her Lyme diagnosis.” “I am incredibly proud of Yolanda’s determination and mission to find a cure, and how brave and open she has been by sharing her story in the hopes of changing the future for others,” he said. Yolanda has shared a few Instagrams about new beginnings, the latest being a shot from her high-rise LA condo. “Sometimes what you are most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free…….. #WindowsToMyWorld #Home #NewBeginnings,” she wrote. Oh, The Irony: The North Face Founder Douglas Tompkins Dies Of Hypothermia After Kayaking Accident In Chile

The North Face Founder Douglas Tompkins Dies Of Hypothermia Douglas Tompkins, the US co-founder of outwear giant, The North Face and Esprit clothing companies, has died from severe hypothermia in a kayaking accident in Chile at the age of 72 according to NY Post : The 72-year-old environmental activist had bought up large swaths of land in South America’s Patagonia region to help keep them pristine. The Aysen health service said the wealthy businessman was boating with five other foreigners on Tuesday when their kayaks capsized in a lake in the Patagonia region of southern Chile. Tompkins died later in the intensive care unit of the hospital in Coyhaique, a town 1,700 kilometers (1,056 miles) south of Santiago. “He had lost consciousness and wasn’t breathing” when brought to the hospital by helicopter, Dr. Carlos Salazar told local television stations. Chile’s army said strong waves on General Carrerra Lake caused the group’s kayaks to capsize. A military patrol boat rescued three of the boaters and a helicopter lifted out the other three, it said. After retiring in 1989, Tompkins was active in conservation and environmentalism. He owned hundreds of thousands of hectares (acres) in Patagonia, a sparsely populated region of untamed rivers and other natural beauty that straddles southern Chile and Argentina. On his Chilean land, he created Pumalin Park, 290,000 hectares (716,606 acres) of forest, lakes and fjords stretching from the Andes to the Pacific. “Doug was a passionate advocate for the environment,” The North Face said in a statement. “His legacy of conservation will help ensure that there are outdoor spaces to be explored for generations to come.” Tompkins was one of the founders of The North Face, an activewear company that is now owned by VF Corp. of Greensboro, North Carolina. He also founded, with his wife, the Esprit clothing company. Please keep the Tompkins family in your thoughts and prayers!

Keith Urban Mourns Late Father

The father of country music superstar Keith Urban has lost his battle with cancer. This sad news was relayed to fans via a message on the official Keith Urban website. Referencing his wife, Nicole Kidman, Urban wrote the following to readers: “I’ve been deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support that Nic and I, and our family, have received since my dad’s passing on Saturday night.” The American Idol judge added that his dad is “finally at peace” after such a long battle with such a debilitating disease.  Urban went on to credit his father’s affection for Don Williams and other country artists as a major reason for why he went into this industry. You don’t exactly see many Australian country music singers, after all. “My dad’s love of country music and America set me on my life’s journey, and shaped so much of who I am today,” he wrote. “Thank you to everyone who has kept us all in your thoughts and prayers.” Bob Urban was placed in hospice care about a week prior to his passing. His son, meanwhile, will be front and center once again when American Idol kicks off its final season on January 6. We send our thoughts and prayers to his family. They’re Baaaaack! After 7 Returns With New Single “I Want You” Produced By Babyface And Daryl Simmons

After 7 Reveals Plans For New Album On Heels Of Soul Train Awards Performance While the Soul Train Awards served as a sort of retirement party for Iggy Azalea , it appears that it’s also been the catalyst for the re-emergence of classic R&B, with After 7 performing on the show and now announcing their new single “I Want You.” Check out the song below and get details on their new project! In the midst of a classic R&B revival, the original group line up of platinum R&B vocal trio After 7 makes a remarkably dynamic return with their unmistakable sound. Riding the wave of their new Billboard Adult R&B hit “I Want You” and an upcoming performance at the 2015 Soul Train Awards, the group is primed for one of the most notable comebacks of the coming year. Reunited with esteemed Grammy winning producer/ songwriter Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and Daryl Simmons after a 20-year hiatus, After 7’s new single and forthcoming album marks a fine return to form of a vocal group that adeptly distills the essence of soul. As Babyface entered a prolific creative period while preparing material for his own upcoming solo release, his thoughts drifted back to his brothers’ group with every composition. And after Kevon, Melvin, and Keith heard some of the songs he had in mind for them, that missing element was clear and apparent: After 7. To shore up After 7’s vocal prowess, a somewhat familiar face was added to the family affair: nephew Jason Edmonds. After 7 entered Babyface’s Los Angeles recording studio Brandon’s Way in the summer of 2015 to begin work on a few tracks. The result was “I Want You,” a smooth uptempo groove and an unshakable testament to a group whose vibrant vocal performance has consistently engaged fans over the decades. “It’s about wanting and accepting every part of that special person,” says Keith. “It’s that inspiring; it’s that energetic.” With the favorable renewed interest in their reunion in hand, the group returned to the studio to begin work on their upcoming album. In the meantime, the single “I Want You” began to make waves at radio stations across the country – helping the tune reach #19 on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart. This was confirmation that the group’s audience was eagerly anticipating a new After 7. As a follow up and contrast to the lead single, the seductive “In And Out” bears the mark of a classic Babyface slow jam which showcases the group’s tradition as robust balladeers. Offering a delightfully surprising change of pace, “Loving You All My Life” finds the group challenging themselves vocally while effortlessly delivering in the vein of a tender love. “It’s probably the most different of any song that people have heard from After 7,” affirms Kevon. With work on their new album nearly complete, the group’s new material is certain to be rooted in the old while adeptly referencing the new. And with the success of songstress Jazmine Sullivan’s 2015 single “Let It Burn,” which uses a prominent sample of their 1989 hit “Ready Or Not” as a foundation, there’s no doubt that the R&B/ soul world-at-large has undoubtedly been primed for the return of their classic sound. Planned for a 2016 release, the album promises to the group to its rightful place as R&B royalty in a musical landscape yearning to be refreshed. “Historically, Babyface and Daryl Simmons have a lock on the ability to take raw talent and guide it in the proper direction,” Kevon says with confidence. “With their guidance, we’re taking every diamond, pearl, and precious stone that we have in terms of creativity and putting it all into this record. The moment is now.” We can’t wait to hear what else they have in store. If you missed it, check out After 7’s Soul Train Awards performance below:
