Brittany Maynard and Dan Diaz celerated their first two Christmases together joyfully. Tragically, they never got to see a third as she passed away this fall. Having become the face of the controversial right-to-die movement, Brittany Maynard ended her life at age 29 with medication prescribed by a doctor. Maynard had terminal brain cancer and moved to Oregon with her mother, stepfather and husband last June to gain access to the state’s Death with Dignity Act. That law, which is extremely polarizing, allows terminally ill people meeting specific criteria to take fatal doses of barbiturates prescribed to them by a doctor. In October, she launched a video campaign with Compassion & Choices, an end-of-life choice advocacy organization, to fight for national access to such laws. “There is not a cell in my body that is suicidal or that wants to die,” she said then, less than a month before she passed away voluntarily. “I want to live.” “I wish there was a cure for my disease but there’s not,” she added, lamenting her condition. “My glioblastoma is going to kill me and that’s out of my control.” “I’ve discussed with many experts how I would die from it and it’s a terrible, terrible way to die. Being able to choose to go with dignity is less terrifying.” Husband Diaz and Brittany’s mother, Debbie Ziegler, shared her feelings and memories about her daughter’s medical journey and decision to die with dignity. “What made Brittany the bravest and most intelligent woman I’ve ever known,” she wrote of her late daughter, is what drove her to this difficult choice. “This ability to decide to live, to decide to notice beauty, to decide to be the most that she could be and then go before everything that made her who she was – was diminished.” Maynard, who loved the outdoors, even took a walk through the woods with her friends and family on the very day she ended her own life, Ziegler recalls. My sweet girl, on the razor’s edge of death, took in the beauty of the day.” “We all make a choice daily, ‘Smile that it happened, or be sad that it has ended,'” Diaz wrote of his late wife. “I try to focus on remembering her and smile.” Diaz carries Maynard’s driver’s license in his wallet, right above his. “Whenever I’m paying for something at the grocery store, I see her picture,” he wrote. “I remember her day-to-day smile, her laugh, a conversation.” “She’s the woman I love.” Mom mourns her, too. “I miss her terribly,” Ziegler wrote . “I am so proud to have been her mother that my heart is full to bursting. Brittany’s ashes lie amongst a grove of trees. She is home.”

According to Us Weekly sources, Logan Michael Lohan was born on December 31 at 11:16 a.m., weighing in at 6 pounds, 14 ounces at the time. “Kate and I are ecstatic. A bit late for Christmas but the best gift imaginable,” Lohan tells the tabloid in a statement. “What a way to bring in the new year! God has blessed me with the best children a father could ever ask for — but I’m done!” Lohan and Major got married in Florida a couple months ago and are also the parents to a two-year old boy named Landon. Michael, meanwhile, is already awful dad to famously effed up actress Lindsay Lohan , 28; daughter Ali, 21; and sons Michael Jr., 27, and Cody, 18, with whom he shares with ex-wife Dina Lohan. And now longtime Cosby associate, Debbie Allen has shared her thoughts regarding accusations made by several women against the legendary comedian. While promoting her upcoming BET holiday musical “The Hot Chocolate Nutcracker” this week, the multi-talented actress-choreographer, who served as a producer on “A Different World” for 122 episodes, joined Kathie Lee & Hoda during an interview on the TODAY show admitting the accusations are “hard to believe.” “I don’t think we can have this conversation honestly in two minutes. It begs to ask a bigger question. Where’s the moral spine in America and in the world today? Because how are we raising our daughters, our sons? Tori Spelling has openly admitted that she had to be hospitalized recently, but now she’s delving into the real reason why (or why she claims) she checked in. Was it a nervous breakdown, as widely reported? Yes … and no. During her appearance on Today to promote True Tori Season 2 Episode 5 , she said she believes her illness was just a symptom of a bigger problem. She started off by explaining that she began to get sick after her four children contracted pneumonia, and unfortunately, “it just hit me the hardest,” she said. “At 41,” Tori told Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, “I’m realizing you can repress [emotions] for as long as you want, but they come out in certain ways.” “There are emotional components, always.” The issues aren’t just with her cheating husband, Dean McDermott, with whom Spelling put on a united front despite rumors of their imminent split. Leah Messer’s marriage hit a rough patch recently, and judging from her recent social media posts, she’ll do anything to make it work. Yesterday, Messer took to Facebook to discuss her “struggles” with Jeremy Calvert and offer “marriage tips” to her online fans. She admitted things haven’t been easy, but she seemed convinced that she and Calvert could make it work. Later on Twitter, however, the Teen Mom 2 star came off as decidedly less optimistic: “Everyone keep me in your thoughts and prayers today #nervous,” Messer tweeted, leading some fans to speculate that she was approaching some sort of crossroads in her relationship with Calvert. Unfortunately, it seems that whatever Leah was nervous about did not turn out the way she’d hoped: “Failure does not mean that you’ll never get what you want,” she tweeted today. “Sometimes failure means you have to fight harder for something better.” So did Leah meet up with Jeremy to discuss their relationship, only to realize it’s over? That certainly wouldn’t come as much of a surprise, considering all that they’ve been through. The problems began last month when Calvert accused Messer of cheating on him on Twitter. Messer denied cheating , and the couple seemed to patch things up, but more difficulties quickly arose. Sources say Messer is headed to rehab to receive treatment for a prescription pill addiction. Her habit has reportedly placed further strain on a relationship that was already stretched to the breaking point. If things don’t work out, Messer will be twice-divorced at the age of 22. In a short excerpt (via People) from her forthcoming memoir, “True Love,” Lopez, 45, recalls the day she revealed her marriage was over and the thoughts about relationships that followed. The singer was on the set of a photo shoot in July 2011. Things on the outside seemed to be picture perfect for Lopez: She had recently celebrated her seventh wedding anniversary (June 5), her twins Max and Emme were doing well and her newest single, “On the Floor,” had soared to number one around the world. But on the inside, Lopez was struggling with her relationship. “In a blur of fear and panic, I looked at Benny [Medina] and my mother and blurted out the words: ‘I don’t think I can be with Marc anymore.’ Then I burst into tears,” Lopez writes. “It was out. The thing I feared more than anything in the world. I collapsed into their arms and began to sob.” Lopez and Anthony publicly announced their divorce on July 15, 2011. “Hardest. Day. Ever,” she dramatically sums up. Jep Robertson of Duck Dynasty suffered a seizure whole on a hunting trip over the weekend, but despite that health scare, he is expected to recover fully. He was rushed to the hospital after the incident, according to insiders. The youngest of Phil Robertson’s four sons, 35-year-old Jep had his brother Willie Robertson by his side as he was taken in for treatment after collapsing. He’s currently being treated with antibiotics for possible infections that may have triggered the seizure as he remains hospitalized for further testing. Says the Duck Dynasty cast member’s rep in a statement Sunday: “Jep was rushed to the hospital and received immediate treatment. He is doing well now, but is still in the hospital for additional tests and observation.” “Our family would like to thank everyone for their love and support and ask that you keep Jep, Jessica and their children in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.” Jep, the proud father of four little kids with amazing wife Jessica Robertson, appears to be in good spirits, considering his good fortune to be alive. “Well, I about died this past Sunday,” he tweeted on Saturday. “I’m doing much better now. Thanks for all the prayers! #seizuressuck #gladtobealive.” He also posted a split photo of himself (above) posing in a hospital bed like the image of Steven Seagal, also in a hospital bed.
