Drugs Are Bad M’kay: Whitney Houston Battling Lung Disease?

According to “sources” Whitney Houston is suffering badly from emphysema: A badly shaken WHITNEY HOUSTON is fighting for her life against deadly emphysema – and her daughter is waging a desperate battle to save her. Doctors have told the 47-year-old singer she’s suffering from the early stages of the frightening lung disease – and informed her in no uncertain terms she must immediately quit smoking or she will die, The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively. Tragically, it’s fallen to her 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina – who just recently got out of rehab – to stop her beloved mom from digging her own grave. During Whitney’s world tour last year, critics and fans were shocked and mystified when she became breathless on stage and had to halt performances while she recovered. “She’s developed emphysema – and her doctors are warning her she’ll die a horrible death,” a friend told The ENQUIRER exclusively. If this is true our thoughts and prayers are with Nippy as she battles this disease. On a more positive note, we’ve compiled a few photos of Whitney in her prime. Source

Rihanna’s ‘Man Down’ Video Slammed For Violence

Parents Television Council and Industry Ears criticize depiction of murder in new clip. By Gil Kaufman Rihanna Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ WireImage Rihanna has more than said her piece about how her 2009 assault at the hands of ex-boyfriend Chris Brown has affected her. But in the new video for her single, “Man Down,” the singer is depicted shooting an unarmed man in the head in cold blood at a train station in what viewers later learn is retaliation for a previous sexual assault. “Mama, I just shot a man dead,” Rihanna sings in the video, which debuted on BET on Tuesday. The Parents Television Council, the Enough Is Enough campaign and the entertainment think tank Industry Ears released a statement on Wednesday condemning the video for what the group said was an apparent enticement to young women to turn to violence. ” ‘Man Down’ is an inexcusable, shock-only, shoot-and-kill theme song,” said Industry Ears co-founder Paul Porter, a former programming director at BET. The lyrics to the song match the narrative of the video, including such lines as, “I didn’t mean to end his life/ I know it wasn’t right … I took his heart when/ I pulled out that gun … Oh mama, mama, mama/ I just shot a man down/ In central station/ In front of a big ol’ crowd.” The PTC lamented that Rihanna had a “golden opportunity” to use her celebrity status to send an important message to young girls and victims of rape and domestic violence with the clip, but had missed the mark. “Instead of telling victims they should seek help, Rihanna released a music video that gives retaliation in the form of premeditated murder the imprimatur of acceptability,” said the PTC’s Melissa Henson. Though a spokesperson for Rihanna could not be reached for comment, the singer took to Twitter on Monday to give her fans a preview of the clip’s message. She wrote that it had a “very strong underlying message 4 girls like me.” MTV News spoke with director Anthony Mandler last month, when he revealed that Rihanna let him take the visual to the extreme. “We shot the video last month in Jamaica, and it’s my favorite song she’s ever recorded, so I was really excited to get involved,” he said. “And it’s just one of those songs that demands a strong narrative and visual, and let’s just say, she let me go all the way. So I think you can expect something that’s dramatic and shocking and intense and emotional and uplifting and enlightening.” The organizations have called for BET to stop airing the video immediately. A spokesperson for BET could not be reached at press time. For her part, Rihanna has continued to tout the empowerment message of the clip, tweeting on Wednesday, “Young girls/women all over the world … we are a lot of things! We’re strong innocent fun flirtatious vulnerable, and sometimes our innocence can cause us to be naive! We always think it could NEVER be us, but in reality, it can happen to ANY of us! So ladies be careful and #listentoyomama! I love you and I care!” It’s not the first time Rihanna has been embroiled in a video controversy. Her sexually-suggestive “S&M” clip was banned in a number of countries earlier this year, and some questioned whether she was glorifying domestic violence around the release of the video for her hit Eminem collaboration, “Love the Way You Lie.” What do you think of Rihanna’s video? Does Watching Porn Count As Cheating?

See the article here:

Pornography. Something like a hot topic these days. I was recently perusing through the Yahoo! Love + Sex blog and I found an ongoing dialogue about the place pornography should have in a relationship. A few questions came up. Should a woman be offended if her man watches porn after sex? Should a woman be offended if her man watches porn, period? Should a man tell his woman if, when, or how often he watches porn? Blah blah, etc. Now, I may or may not have a boyfriend who does or doesn’t watch porn in excess, but that information is irrelevant; I’m not particularly keen on the World Wide Web knowing my personal business. I also happen to be wearing my objective bystander cap. That said, my thoughts and/or response to the aforementioned questions are the following: Choosing to huff and puff about how often your man turns to Tiny’s Black Adventures for a little visual stimulation is about as ridiculous as huffing and puffing every time your man salivates over a Kim Kardashian, Buffie the Body, or Angelina Jolie editorial spread. Feeling threatened by a pixel that is impossibly capable of doing for him what you can do for him is not a good look. Know you’re the bomb, and own it. Period. Instead of taking offense to what your man watches throughout the course of his day to day, I present to you the following options: 1. Step YOUR game up . Take initiative. Communicate with your man. Find out his likes and dislikes. Find out why he is so quick to pop in a video when you’re sitting in the next room. Never become so content with the stability of your relationship that you stop doing the things that made him fall for you in the first place. If your nails were painted when you met him, keep them painted when you can, and don’t let them chip. If you were rockin’ a fresh perm, schedule your touch-ups like clockwork. Save the granny panties for the monthly, and only the monthly, etc. you get my point… And, he’ll thank you. 2. Watch with him . Make it a movie night. Worst case scenario, you roll your eyes the whole way through (why watch what you can do?), but the best case scenario is, at the very least, twofold. Either you gain valuable insight about your man’s fetishes without ever having to ask him outright, or you pick up some new tricks. I will never forget the day I asked to go through an old boyfriend’s collection. His collection was Latin American, one hundred percent, and while I could’ve pulled the insecure card for being African American, afro and all, I went home later that night and brushed up on my Spanglish. He thanked me. 3. Buy a toy…or twelve . If he can turn elsewhere for arousal – so long as he’s not out with another man or woman doing the real thing – so can you. I guarantee getting familiar with your neighborhood toy store will make you forget about his non-threatening extracurriculars. If I have learned nothing else in my 21 years of blessing, I’ve learned that close-mindedness prohibits growth. And, furthermore, life is too short to lose your sense of humor for the sake of taking yourself too seriously. Long story short, if the Missionary is your bread and butter, then you have no right to question what he watches in his spare time. Simply thank him for not roaming the local clubs in search of something a bit more substantive. 5 Reasons Women Should Slow Down When Dating “He Claims Marriage Is Sacred, But He Cheated With A Married Woman”

Jennifer Lopez Says She ‘Lucked Out’ With Lady Gaga Tracks

J.Lo talks about the tunes Gaga helped write and produce on her new Love? album. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias Jennifer Lopez Photo: Michael Caulfield/ Getty Images Jennifer Lopez came onto the scene as a dance princess, throwing millennium parties while “Waiting for Tonight” and frolicking on the beach declaring that “My Love Don’t Cost a Thing.” Well, it’s now 2011 and not that much has changed for J.Lo. She still wants her fans to shake their fannies while she sings about the ups and downs of love. This time around, however, she got some help from this millennium’s biggest pop princess, Lady Gaga — along with frequent Gaga collaborator/producer RedOne — for the just-released Love? album. “I think RedOne’s sound is very specific, but he also can be very individual for each artist that he works with, which I like, but there’s still kind of a commonality in it,” J.Lo said. “But it’s him. He makes a record sound so big and important … When he would play me different tracks and even the beginnings of ideas and when he told me, ‘Actually I worked with Gaga on this,’ and I was like, ‘Really? That’s awesome. Is it OK?’ and he [was] like, ‘Yeah, yeah.’ You know, they write and produce together a lot. So, it was exciting. I kind of just lucked out on that one.” But, there is a lot more to the album than the few tracks featuring Gaga’s golden touch. Love? also is a complete work of art that in a way, Lopez says, she’s been working on for most of her life. “I’ve been making this album maybe for a couple years now,” she said. “It’s been quite a process, but I’ve been saying lately that I’ve been actually making this record since I was 13 years old — the first time I fell in love — because it’s true, all the thoughts and all the things that went into this album were questions and things that I’ve had over the years … Love is a very complex topic and I’ve been singing about it since my first album, and this was kind of the culmination of that.” Sure, J.Lo is not the same girl she was back then, and she knows that. “I wanted to pose some questions and get the dialogue going about love,” she added. “I wanted to make a great dance, rhythmic album, as well … and we did that. I had great producers … who helped me do that, helped take me and put it into this generation of music with all of that [and] we still were able to do that.” Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: Jennifer Lopez Related Artists Jennifer Lopez

President Obama: Bin Laden Death Photo Will NOT Be Released

Despite reports to the contrary, President Barack Obama emphatically said today that he will not release an Osama bin Laden death photo to the public. Photos taken after U.S. forces shot him dead Sunday clearly show the Al Qaeda leader’s bloody, bullet-ridden face, which plenty of people want to see. It appeared that the administration was on the cusp of releasing the graphic images, but Obama now says it’s not gonna happen for myriad reasons. In particular, Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton both advised Obama against inciting a backlash against the U.S. Obama told 60 Minutes in an interview to air Sunday that “the risks outweigh the benefits” and that they wouldn’t quash conspiracy theories anyway. Some will “claim the photos are doctored anyway” and the risk is that the photos “will only serve to inflame public opinion in the Middle East.” The President continued his defense of not releasing the pictures: “Imagine how the American people would react if Al Qaeda killed one of our troops or military leaders, and put photos of the body on the internet.” “Osama bin Laden is not a trophy – he is dead and let’s now focus on continuing the fight until Al Qaeda has been eliminated.” He makes a point . What do you think, though: Release the bin Laden pics?
