Barack Obama Lands Spot On Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs Chart

F ormer President Barack Obama has always been big on music. Throughout his presidency, he’s shared with us the songs that he keeps in heavy rotation. Let us not forget that time he made an appearance at the Apollo Theater and sang some of Al Green ’s song “Let’s Stay Together.” Obama has now taken his love for music to new heights. According to USA Today , his recent collaboration with Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda has landed him a spot on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart. Barack Obama has made his debut at No. 22 on Billboard's Hot R&B Songs chart https://t.co/NrYGOWq1rR — USA TODAY Life (@usatodaylife) January 4, 2019 The song, dubbed “One Last Time (44 Remix),” debuted at No. 22 on the chart. The track features Obama, singer BeBe Winans , and Hamilton actor Christopher Jackson . On the song—which is about former President George Washington leaving his presidential seat—Obama recites Washington’s farewell address. “I anticipate with pleasing expectation that retreat in which I promise myself to realize, without alloy, the sweet enjoyment of partaking, in the midst of my fellow-citizens, the benign influence of good laws under a free government, the ever-favorite object of my heart, and the happy reward, as I trust, of our mutual cares, labors, and dangers,” says Obama. The song is a part of Miranda’s project Hamildrops which puts a spin on different songs from the musical. He launched the project last year and some of the proceeds are given to different nonprofit organizations. Obama has been a long-time supporter of the Hamilton movement. He took his family to see the show on Broadway and in 2016 the cast performed at the White House. His Billboard accomplishment comes just weeks after he shared his favorite songs of 2018 list which included music from The Carters , Leon Bridges , J. Cole , Cardi B , Janelle Monae , and others. Check out the “One Last Time (44 Remix)” below and share your thoughts in the comments. SEE ALSO: My Elementary School Was Named After A Racist. No Offset, Your Little Stunt During Cardi B’s Performance Wasn’t Romantic. OPINION

The rest is here:

Source: Via Event Planner KayCee Nwasike / Via Event Planner KayCee Nwasike Ever since Cardi B  recently announced that she was divorcing her husband and father of her child, Offset has been doing the absolute most to get her back. He’s taken to social media to blame everyone else for the demise of his marriage, told the world how much he misses her and even recently made a video pleading her to come back and let him spend the holidays with his family. But on Saturday night, he took his public display of nonsense to an entirely new level. During her performance at Los Angeles’ Rolling Loud Festival, the Migos rapper decided to hijack Cardi B during her performance to ask for forgiveness. With a loud and tacky flower arrangement that read “TAKE ME BACK CARDI,” Offset told his wife, “I just want to tell you I’m sorry. You’re my best friend in the world. Whatever I got to do to show I love you, I’ll do.” “I just wanna tell you I’m sorry bruh,” he said. “And furthermore, I love you.” Sigh…who is he calling “bruh”? Thankfully, she let him have it backstage. #Offset offers his apology to #CardiB on stage! Are we here for it? Via: shadylipz/Instagram pic.twitter.com/Qs46Gz4xEE — BET (@BET) December 16, 2018 Wow, Offset really just interrupted Cardi's set to beg her to take him back. This is disgusting and embarrassing. I feel bad for her. pic.twitter.com/ThrVQtnlqU — I Luh God (@aVeryRichBish) December 16, 2018 While there are plenty of folks out there who may find this to be a romantic gesture, I am not here for any of this posturing bafoonery..at all. What Offset did was manipulative, toxic and downright abusive. Cardi B has made it clear that she no longer wants to be with this man, has “fallen out of love” with him and wants to move on with her life. For folks with common sense, this is understandable given that Offset has cheated on her multiple times during the course of their relationship. But Offset isn’t trying to hear that. He refuses to leave her alone and learn from his mistakes. So, he took it upon himself to steal her moment, which was monumental given that Cardi was the first female headliner in Rolling Loud’s 3-year-history. He decided that his needs trumped her feelings, personal space and spotlight. So he came to her job uninvited, ambushing and coercing her in front of thousands of people, thinking she would crumble under the pressure of not wanting to bruise a Black man’s ego in public and essentially take him back. If this isn’t the definition of toxic masculinity, I don’t know what is. Sadly, he didn’t do this all by himself. For the complicit folks at Rolling Loud who knew about this before hand—and even bragged about it on Twitter—and the people close to Cardi who were in on the stunt and didn’t tell her ahead of time, they all need their asses beat too. This did not have to happen in public. Be clear: My critique isn’t about me stanning. I’ve never been a Cardi B fan—I’m still confused at all her Grammy nominations and am often turned off by her online and in-person behavior , especially that NYFW nonsense with Nicki Minaj a few months back. Not to mention, her colorism and past homophobic and transphobic remarks. But what I do appreciate is her come-up story, her resilience and watching her grow as a woman, a rapper and a mother. I want Cardi to be happy, successful and revel in the fact that she knows her worth. But perhaps, that’s the problem. Perhaps that’s why philandering goons like T.I. , The Game , Kirk Frost  and  50 Cent  continue to berate the 26-year-old for “breaking up her family,” while downplaying the severity that having sex with other women can have on a marriage. Could you imagine if Cardi B would have cheated on Offset? These same “men” would never be fighting this hard for this relationship to work. But I digress. See, folks hate when Black women stick up for themselves, have standards and are empowered in their decisions. In addition, folks routinely shame Black women who refuse to allow their relationships to be solely based on pain, one-sided sacrifice,  trauma and infidelity. It literally makes folks’ blood boil to see Black women unbossed, unbothered and happy on their own terms—just ask Ciara . In the end, if Cardi takes Offset back, that’s her own business and I promise not to judge. And while she has asked for folks to not “bash him,” it’s important that we continue to hold this man—and other Black men like him— accountable, an act that too often feels like a rarity instead of the norm. It’s also important that we listen to Black women and remind them that despite what the world may tell them, they are the experts of their own lives and know what’s best for them and their families. Finally, if anything, it’s important for us to use Offset’s behavior as a teachable moment to educate brothas on why this is unacceptable, what healthy relationships and boundaries actually look like, and why Black women are not garbage bags to dump your trashy trifling baggage into. We’re tired of carrying that load, and frankly, we’re entitled to so much better. ‘RHOAS11’ Recap: Eva Snubs The Group For Her Secret Bachelorette Trip

Read the original post:

Source: J. Countess / Getty Tonight’s episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta is all about the couple’s trip that actually ends up becoming a girl’s trip but hold that thought. We begin the episode with Porsha’s revelation that she won’t be telling the group or even Dennis’ mother about her baby just yet since it’s still early. But speaking of Dennis’s mother, Porsha is definitely still trying to impress her. However, Mama Dennis is still keeping her eye on Porsha and definitely wants to know what her thoughts are about prenups. Now let’s cut to the trip. It ends up becoming a girls trip to Destin, Fl. So many of the guys end up dropping out, for various reasons, that Gregg doesn’t want to be the only man present and drops out too. That’s how it becomes the ladies’ takeover. They all meet at Kandi’s house and drive to Florida. They play games to pass the time, starting with truth or dare. Here we go… Shamari is up first, and her dare is to let the nearest woman suck her fingers. That would be Eva, who is actually game. Shamari tells Eva she got a nice little tongue on her. Eva and Kandi get a similar dare, which is to talk dirty to your man on speakerphone. Both situations are a bust. But then, Porsha picks truth and that opens the floodgates for instant messiness. NeNe starts it off by asking Porsha if Dennis dated someone on the bus or someone that knows someone on the bus. Nene knew she was being messy too. So, the topic comes up again and Malo jumps in asking Kandi to clarify. Kandi reiterates for the billionth time that she knows someone who dated him off and on over the last 6 months but then adds that she thinks they were dealing with each other as recently as a month and a half ago, in what was described as a casual fling. Porsha doubles down, claiming that they’ve been in a monogamous relationship. Then Kandi blows up Porsha’s spot and says that she saw Porsha boo’d up with another guy just three months prior to her getting all serious with Dennis. We all knew there was something fishy going on. Finally, the group settles into the house and then continues the messiness over dinner. This time, Cynthia initiates a discussion with Eva. Basically, she wanted to know why Eva went on a bachelorette trip to Miami (which was right before this trip) and didn’t invite any of them, especially NeNe, who is actually in her wedding, and Eva claims is like her big sister. Eva says it was a surprise trip, but not like a suprise, surprise,  then Porsha pipes up saying she was actually invited so now and now they’re looking at her like: This does strike NeNe as shady but she doesn’t seem to take it too hard. We move on and Shamari says she feels some type of way about Porsha trying to shade her style at the Bailey Q, only it wasn’t Porsha that shaded her, it was Eva. They don’t even remember who shades who and Eva didn’t even remember shading her. Anyway, they settle that score peacefully and manage to get through dinner smoothly. But next week, it’s looking like things will get tense between Shamari and Marlo. The Real Housewives of Atlanta Recap: Eva Marcille vs. The Entire Cast

Eva Marcille is learning the hard way that being shady is not the way forward on The Real Housewives of Atlanta.  NeNe Leakes was livid that she never made the cut to be invited to Eva’s bachelorette party and wasted no time in telling her friends just how mad she was.  Eva was put on blast during a girls’ trip that was planned by NeNe. Cynthia Bailey took an immediate issue with the fact that some of the housewives were left out, mainly because Eva previously asked NeNe to speak at her wedding.  When asked about how the event was, Eva could not look any of the ladies in the eye, so she settled for the ground and said the event was “bomb” and that “it was a surprise.” This was clearly a tactic from Eva to make everyone think that she was not in the know about who was and was not invited.  And then Porsha Williams threw in her two cents.  “But I was invited a while ago,” Porsha yelled, and Kandi Burruss was not amused. “Wait, I’m confused. How is it a surprise if you invited Porsha?” the Xscape hitmaker complained.  Eva continued to claim that she had little knowledge of the event but kept changing her story throughout the episode.  Porsha claimed she “didn’t think it was a secret” and asked straight up why NeNe was not part of the guest list.  Eva continued on the denial train, and Cynthia was mad. Eva has long maintained that she and NeNe go way back, so Cynthia was pissed that Eva would treat her this way.  “I don’t have any biological sisters that I know, so for me, women in my life and in my circle is a blessing,” Eva went on to say while fighting back tears. “I don’t have to be best friends with NeNe for me to have a level of respect for her. I’m inspired by NeNe. I have seen who NeNe has become. I’ve seen her successes, and I support her.” “I don’t talk to her every day like [Cynthia does], that’s fine. Or every day like Marlo does, that’s fine. But that doesn’t change the way I feel about her.” NeNe was taken aback, but still confused.  “I think Marlo and Cynthia’s biggest issue was how do you be in somebody’s wedding and they don’t invite you to the bachelorette weekend?” she said to Eva. “Even if you thought a person was busy, you still extend the invite, whether they’re busy or not.” NeNe could tell there was something amiss with Eva, but she did not tell her that to her face.  “I don’t know if I would have gone to Eva’s bachelorette party, but an invite would’ve been f–king nice,” she said. “I mean, she did ask me to speak at her wedding, so it seems to me it would make more sense if she had just said, ‘Hey, girl, do you wanna come to Florida?!’ And I probably would’ve said, ‘Hey, girl, no!'” Okay then.  The other big fight of the night was a dud. Shamari DeVoe felt like Porsha was giving her the cold shoulder, so she called her out.  Porsha responded by saying that she felt the same way about Shamari. It emerged that Eva was the one who was causing all the problems, so Porsha was in the clear here.  What are your thoughts on the latest arguments? Ariana Grande to Kanye West: Grow Up and Get Off Twitter!

So you know how Kanye West enjoys expressing his thoughts and feelings on Twitter? It seems that yesterday, he had just a great big mess of them. Because, OK, Kanye hates Drake , right? And this is for a lot of reasons. Earlier this year, Kanye produced an album for Pusha-T, and on the album, Pusha said some not-so-nice things about Drake. Drake retaliated by saying some equally unkind things about both men in a song of his own. After that, Pusha released another song in which he let everyone knew that Drake had that kid that he’d been keeping secret . A few months later, Drake slammed Kanye in yet another song. And after all that, Kanye got a text yesterday from one of Drake’s producers asking for permission to sample one of his songs. That’s when things got really bad. Kanye tweeted a screenshot of the text and then went off … for a very, very long time. The gist of it all was that he’s been waiting on an apology from Drake for going after him when he wasn’t even the one who told Pusha about his secret son. After the first part of the rant, he said that Drake did call to apologize, but just a few hours later, he claimed that “Drake called trying to threaten me.” We can’t even begin to break down everything he said — he seriously tweeted for hours and hours — but he did seem to take the threat seriously. “Drake if anything happens to me or anyone from my family you are the first suspect,” he wrote. He said that he made it possible for Drake to be successful because “I’m the guy with the pink polo that made a way for him.” But now he’s “so street” that he picks on “people with mental health issues” — he did explain that since he’s bipolar, issues like these can make him “ramped.” Kanye begged Drake to “please take the devil up out you” and to stop playing games and just have a real conversation about everything with him. He really did go on for so long. So, so long. And Ariana Grande was not having it. See, last night Ariana was planning on dropping a new song, “Imagine,” and she did, but she was on Twitter for a few hours before to talk with her fans and promote the release. The problem was that so many people were talking about everything that Kanye was saying that it was kind of sucking up all the attention. So she tweeted this: “Guys, i know there are grown men arguing online rn but miley and i dropping our beautiful, new songs tonight so if y’all could please jus behave for just like a few hours so the girls can shine that’d be so sick thank u.” Honestly, a lot of people didn’t appreciate the comment — some thought it was a silly cry for attention, others thought Kanye’s claims about death threats were more interesting and important. But Miley was down for Ariana’s plea! She retweeted it and added “Didn’t they hear the news?! War IS over! Thank you, next!” Because the song she released last night is called “War is Over,” get it? Unfortunately, Kanye didn’t listen, and he went on for a while after that about how important he’s been for “sneakers fashion music everything” and about how positive vibes are desperately needed. Who’s The King? Jacquees Believes He’s The King Of R&B, J. Holiday, Tank, Tyrese Respond

Join Our Text Club To Get The Latest Music, Entertainment, Contests And Breaking News On Your Phone. Text BOX to 24042 to join! Source: Victoria Said It / C.McGraw/Radio One Saint Louis Cash Money singer Jacquees caused quite a stir on social media over the weekend when he proclaimed himself the king of R&B of this particular generation. It prompted a who’s who of artists to come out and dispute the “You” singer’s claims, from Tank who gave the crown to R. Kelly and that there was no other person who could hold it … To Tyrese who thought Jacquees was trolling something serious with his video. In fact, he nominated two artists who he believes have been king of this particular generation — Virginia boys Trey Songz and Chris Brown . He was also quick to point out that in his eyes, the last no skips R&B album that dropped was TGT’s Three Kings album. THAT wound up leading to J. Holiday expressing his thoughts on the situation — to near hilarious results too. Mans had to point out that Gucci jacket when the passerby asked if he was valet. But his three kings? Michael Jackson, R. Kelly and Chris Brown. Hell, even Pleasure P wanted smoke with the entire situation! Eric Bellinger and Usher couldn’t do anything except laugh at all of it. In Bellinger’s eyes, you need more consistency to even claim the crown. And as to how Breezy feels about all of this? Well, it’s all love for him. Point is, this is equal parts hilarious and intriguing. I wonder if we’ll get some fire records out of it. And definitely not any diss records! RELATED: Who Is The King of R&B? The Real Housewives of Orange County Recap: Who Called Shannon Beador Out?

With The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 13 in the can, there’s one thing that’s become abundantly clear about the most recent season: Shannon Beador does not like any of the new additions to the cast. If you watch The Real Housewives of Orange County online , you already know the long-term cast member blatantly ignores Emily Simpson and Gina Kirschenheiter whenever they try to talk to her.  Gina claimed on Sunday’s reunion show that Shannon is “an open book of bulls–t.” Gina was tired of the back and forth with Shannon and felt like the recently single housewife was lying about everything, all while putting on a show for the cameras.  According to Gina, Shannon called her up and said the following: “I have a history of not remembering things, and I’m in a custody case, and I’m afraid that I’m gonna lose my children. I wanna know what was said.” As you may recall, Gina was the one who told Shannon what was said about her after her meltdown in Jamaica. That thinly veiled attempt at finding a friend while throwing another under the bus did not go unnoticed, and Shannon assumed Tamra Judge was the person talking about her.  Gina said during the reunion that she even offered to bring up the comments in front of the other woman to prove she was telling the truth but added that Shannon told her to leave it.  Andy Cohen interjected and asked whether that was the truth, but Shannon essentially called Gina a liar.  “Yes, you did! You’re lying!” Gina screamed, adding: “Maybe it’s your selective memory? All I know is that you told me you were gonna lose your kids, and I felt bad for you and told you what was said.” “I was in the middle of a divorce. There was no custody issue then!” Shannon fired back. “I’m going through a custody issue now. Don’t put words in my mouth!” “DON’T SAY WORDS! YOU ARE AN OPEN BOOK OF BULLSHIT!” Gina yelled back. “IT IS RIDICULOUS! PAGES AND PAGES! NOBODY WANTS TO READ IT ANYMORE!” “I was just trying to help you!” Gina continued. “All your friends talked about you being mentally ill on that trip.” Kelly Dodd and Vicki Gunvalson went on to say that everyone deals with things differently. Maybe they were trying to throw some support Shannon’s way, or something, but it fell flat.  Tamra then chimed in and stood up for her former BFF. She felt like Gina should not have said anything about it because Shannon was recovering for surgery and not in the best state of mind.  “I am sorry I brought it up. Shannon, I promise you I feel bad for you,” Gina said in response. “I really do. And I promise you, on a level, I understand what you’re going through.” “I’m sorry. I’m really not trying to make a problem for anybody, and anybody who knows me knows I don’t go with malice in my heart,” Gina continued.  “I feel terrible for you and what you’re going through. I’m going through it, too. It sucks. I promise you. I got my heart broken, too, okay? In my heart, at the time, I was just checking in. Looking back on it now, I think it was bad timing.” “I accept your apology,” said Shannon as though she had to force herself to say it.  Okay then.  What are your thoughts on the latest twists and turns?
