Can Lindsay Lohan Make A Comeback?

‘She’ll either be forgotten, she’ll be dead, tragically, or she’ll have an Academy Award,’ one PR expert tells MTV News. By Gil Kaufman Lindsay Lohan Photo: OutOfSightMedia/ Getty Images Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan has completed her jail term (13 of 90 days) and, on Tuesday, her court-ordered stint at an inpatient rehab facility (23 of 90 days). So now that she’s back on the outside, can the onetime rising Hollywood starlet get her career groove back? Though the annals of Tinseltown are littered with stories of crackups that actors and actresses were unable to bounce back from, Lohan need look no further than Oscar winner Robert Downey Jr. for proof that once-left-for-dead careers trashed by drugs and erratic behavior can indeed be revived and thrive once again.

The five-city tour will be the first concert promoted by the new Live Nation Australia. The outing will begin in Auckland’s Mount Smart Stadium on November 25 and make its way to amphitheaters across the country, stopping in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney. It will conclude at Perth’s Subiaco Oval on December 18. Tickets will be on sale to the general public September 3, while U2.com subscribers will have the opportunity for a pre-sale. U2’s summer leg of the tour was rescheduled after lead singer Bono suffered a back injury, pushing those dates to the spring and summer of 2011. Nikki Reed Explains Bella And Rosalie’s ‘Breaking Dawn’ Bond

The onetime rivals’ love for baby Renesmee is ‘the one thing that’s strong enough to bring them together.’ By Kara Warner Nikki Reed Photo: MTV News With “Eclipse” about to leave theaters and a sizable gap between the release dates of “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” and “Part 2,” the “Twilight” news seems hard to come by these days — at least until the cast starts filming “Dawn” this fall. Lucky for us, MTV News caught up with Nikki Reed recently to talk about her upcoming indie film “Last Day of Summer” co-starring DJ Qualls, and, naturally, the conversation veered into “Breaking Dawn” territory. As fans and readers of Stephenie Meyer’s final “Twilight” book know, Reed’s character Rosalie and Kristen Stewart’s Bella form an unexpected bond late in the series. We asked her thoughts on how the relationship between the two women changes in the final two films. “What is that saying: Nothing makes two people bond more than the hate of another?” Reed said. “I kind of feel like that [describes Bella and Rosalie’s relationship], but in relation to love in ‘Breaking Dawn,’ because they both love this child so much.” Speaking of Bella and Edward’s much-discussed baby, Renesmee, Reed explained that a shared love unites the two. “I think it’s finally the one thing that’s strong enough to bring them together — their love for this [child]. It’s bizarre,” Reed said, since in the books and the films Bella and Rosalie don’t exactly get along perfectly. “It’s like they learn to co-exist for the sake of the kid, almost like they’re a divorced couple.” Reed has also said that her character’s motivations for wanting Bella to have the baby at all costs are all about that love she has for the child, not politics. “I think that Rosalie just always wanted to be a mom, and that’s how I look at it,” she said. “It has nothing to do with being pro-life or anything. I think it’s about her want, her need to be a mother, and this is the only opportunity she’s ever going to have, so she’s willing to let Bella die so she can have that and fulfill that, and that’s how I look at it. It’s her own personal desires.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .

Heidi Montag Tweets Lauren Conrad That Spencer Is ‘Sucky’

‘You were right,’ Montag tells former best friend as Spencer shops sex tape. By James Dinh Heidi Montag Photo: Denise Truscello/ WireImage Back when Heidi Montag and Lauren Conrad were living the life in the Hollywood Hills, LC warned her then best friend that Spencer Pratt was “a sucky person.” Not until now has Montag finally agreed. “@LaurenConrad you were right! Spencer is soooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sucky!!!” she tweeted Lauren on Sunday. Conrad has yet to reply, but she developed a growing dislike for Spencer years ago during the filming of “The Hills.” She tried to convince Montag of his not-so-nice ways but was left in the dust when Montag moved in with Spencer , ultimately severing their friendship. The tweet is likely a response to Pratt’s recent media storm against his soon-to-be ex-wife. TMZ has reported that Pratt has threatened to release a sex tape if the blonde starlet doesn’t do another reality show with him. But Pratt isn’t wasting any time. He is currently shopping around multiple sex tapes of Montag , including one with Pratt and another featuring Montag with Playboy Playmate Karissa Shannon. And that isn’t all he has planned. The reality star has also announced that he’s planning a tell-all book in which he’s “not holding anything back,” including his argumentative relationship with Montag’s mother, Darlene. Chelsea Handler Reveals Her Plans As VMA Host

‘I’ll be myself — that I can promise,’ she says on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show. By James Dinh Chelsea Handler Photo: Jason LaVeris/ FilmMagic While Chelsea Handler will no doubt employ her outrageous late-night shtick as host of the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards , that doesn’t mean she’s not going to play nice. On Thursday (August 19), the comedian talked to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show about why she’s pumped about her hosting gig and her plans to reunite Kanye West and Taylor Swift. “I’m pretty excited, because it’s such a big hip-hop and rap year, and I just love having those guys on my show, and they have the best senses of humor anyway,” she said. “I’m hoping we can do some really fun stuff with these A-holes. I want to go and film some ridiculous stuff and see if Kanye, if we can do something with Kanye, because I always talk about Kanye, so he seems like he’d be in on the fun. We just had our first couple of meetings the last couple of weeks, and then we’ll figure out a plan. I’ll be myself — that I can promise.” But Handler doesn’t just want to engage Mr. West in some VMA fun; she’s also eyeing Taylor Swift. “I’d like to get them together is what I’d like to get, because you’ve never really seen them together since then,” she said of the music superstars. “They were supposed to be on ‘SNL,’ but then that didn’t end up happening. I don’t know. We’ll try and think of something clever to do with them, because that would be really fun. Everyone loves Taylor Swift, and Kanye’s … Kanye.” A reunion between the rapper and country songstress would make for a highlight after West’s stage invasion during Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video last year. Since the onstage fiasco, Swift has poked fun at the incident and accepted the rapper’s “very sincere” apology . Kanye is set to perform at this year’s ceremony, and Taylor is nominated for Best Female Video (“Fifteen”). Would you like to see a Kanye and Taylor reunion at this year’s VMAs? Share your thoughts below! The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on September 12 at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for the winners from now through September 12. Related Photos Can You Handle VMA Host Chelsea Handler?

Jon Chu Teases Plotline For ‘The LXD’ Season Two

‘It’s all about the villains in the next season, which is really fun,’ director says. By Jocelyn Vena Jon Chu Photo: Alexandra Wyman/ Getty Images With the first season of “The LXD” wrapping up, the online series has managed to garner admirers ranging from comic book fanboys to dance fans by seamlessly combining the mythology of comic book franchises like “X-Men” with the art of dance. And the mastermind behind the show, “Step Up 3D” director Jon Chu, says that the concept wasn’t initially an easy sell. “For sure, the question kept coming up, like, ‘What’s their power and what are they fighting for?’ ” he told MTV News. “It did take us some time to create the mythology, which even in the 10 episodes, it doesn’t come out. You just clamp [on] a lot of little questions. So, we created a history that goes from the 1920s to the year 3000 as to what that power is. So in season two you learn a lot more.” What will fans get in the second season, which Chu said has already been shot and is currently in the process of being edited before a premiere, hopefully by the end of the year? “It’s all about the villains in the next season, which is really fun,” he teased. “We see these sort of as the ‘Avengers’ style. In season two, which is them coming into learning what the LXD is, learning about what the organization is, learning who their enemies are, learning what the power, which we call RA … and this RA, which is like chi or aura or chakra, can be focused and sent outside of the body. So they’re going to explore how they can hone this RA and that there is evil out there.” Looking back on the first season, Chu, who will next direct the still-untitled Justin Bieber movie , feels that they really did start to break some ground. “You know the one that was the riskiest for us, but also the one that paid off the most, was ‘Robot Lovestory.’ That’s the one where the whole series stemmed from, on my end at least,” he said. “I wanted to do this story about how Madd Chadd discovered he was a robot. I wanted to do it in a film noir style, so that was always sort of the first one. Eventually I think it worked well, and I think it’s a fun, beautiful piece.” Have you been following “The LXD”? NY Daily News Reporter Touts Online Poll That 70% of New Yorkers Think Mosque Opposition Based on ‘Hatred’

Appearing in the 2:00PM ET hour on MSNBC, New York Daily News reporter Samuel Goldsmith cited a poll featured on the paper’s website , about opposition to the Ground Zero mosque: “[it] shows that 70% of New Yorkers say that they think the opposition is out of hatred and religious intolerance.” Unfortunately, Goldsmith forgot to mention that it was a completely unscientific poll that only appeared within articles on the topic and allowed people to potentially vote numerous times. The slanted poll question read: “Is opposition to the building of a mosque near Ground Zero intolerant?” The three responses offered were: “Yes, it’s pure religious bigotry against Muslims; No, you can be against because it dishonors victims of Sept. 11; Maybe, but the sensitive thing to do is to move it further from the WTC site.” Goldsmith touted the Daily News poll after anchor Jeff Rossen cited a scientific poll on the issue: “A new Siena College poll suggests – and we actually have the results right here – that 63% of New Yorkers oppose this Islamic center. Only 23% support it.” After promoting the unreliable online poll, Goldsmith argued: “…there’s a lot of voices coming out….It’s hard to really get a grasp of what the public opinion is, I think.” Here is a full transcript of the August 18 program: 2:08PM ET JEFF ROSSEN: President Obama not backing down from his comments about the Ground Zero mosque and the Islamic center. At the end of an event in Columbus, Ohio today a reporter asked the President whether he had any regrets, speaking out on the issue. BARACK OBAMA: The answer is no regrets. ROSSEN: You couldn’t hear that, he said the answer is no regrets. Samuel Goldsmith is with the New York Daily News. Thanks so much for joining us Samuel. GOLDSMITH: How are you? ROSSEN: So, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi now calling for an investigation into the groups that are opposing this. What are your thoughts? SAMUEL GOLDSMITH: Well, she’s the first one to come out and say that there should be an investigation into that side of the argument. So far there have just been calls for investigations into the group behind the project. ROSSEN: There are reports that the makers – that the developers of the mosque have turned down an offer from the New York Governor David Paterson to relocate this center and this mosque. Is there any compromise left, you think – in the cards? GOLDSMITH: You know I’m not – I’m having a hard time finding out if that report’s true. I don’t think it is. They said yesterday that they were willing to meet with the Governor. Though they’re also saying they’re not interested in relocating. ROSSEN: A new Siena College poll suggests – and we actually have the results right here – that 63% of New Yorkers oppose this Islamic center. Only 23% support it. It appears that doesn’t matter to the President or to the Mayor as well. What are your thoughts? GOLDSMITH: It’s interesting, the poll, we have a poll on our website that also shows that 70% of New Yorkers say that they think the opposition is out of hatred and religious intolerance. So there’s a lot of voices coming out. The polls show one side of it. It’s hard to really get a grasp of what the public opinion is, I think. ROSSEN: At the same time, 64% of voters say the developers have the constitutional right to build the mosque. So it’s really a very interesting poll. Just as many people say they shouldn’t build it there but they also agree that they have the right to. GOLDSMITH: Which is basically what a lot of politicians have said, which is they’re not commenting on the wisdom of it, but they believe they have the right. That’s what the President said. ROSSEN: Samuel Goldsmith with the New York Daily News. Thanks for joining us, sir. GOLDSMITH: Thank you.
