30 Seconds To Mars Answer Your Questions In Exclusive MTV Live Stream

’30 Seconds to Mars: State of the Union’ will stream live on MTV.com Thursday at 6 p.m. ET/ 3 p.m. PT. By James Montgomery 30 Seconds to Mars Photo: Dave Hogan/ WireImage They went to the brink and back to make This Is War , but now, more than a year after the album hit stores, 30 Seconds to Mars are stronger than ever, with a globe-spanning, arena-filling tour, a string of thoroughly epic music videos, and a die-hard fanbase that most bands would kill for. So now, everyone is beginning to wonder: What’s next? On Thursday, we’ll find out, when Jared, Shannon and Tomo stop by the MTV Newsroom for a live chat we’re calling “30 Seconds to Mars: State of the Union,” an in-depth discussion about the band’s past, present and, of course, future. Streaming live on MTV.com at 6 p.m. ET/ 3 p.m. PT, the show will be an hour-long open-ended conversation, with the band’s Echelon asking the questions. Fans can submit their queries via Twitter, using the hashtag #ASK30STM, and we’ll pick the best of the bunch to be answered during our live stream. The MTV Newsroom will also be packed with Echelon members, turning the entire show into one gigantic 30STM lovefest (or a close approximation of their “Closer to the Edge” video, at least). So, if you love 30 Seconds to Mars, you’ve gotta watch the “State of the Union” … and lend your voice to the conversation too. And if you know 30 Seconds to Mars — or their boundary-pushing videos for “Hurricane” and “This Is War,” — you know there’s no topic that’s off-limits. It all goes down Thursday at 6 p.m. ET/ 3 p.m. PT on MTV.com! Related Artists 30 Seconds To Mars

Katy Perry’s ‘E.T.’ Video: Watch An Exclusive Preview!

Clip’s on-air debut at 7:53 p.m. ET Thursday will be followed by live ‘MTV First’ interview with Perry on MTV.com. By Kara Warner Katy Perry in her “E.T.” video Photo: Capitol The Thursday night premiere of Katy Perry’s “E.T.” video with Kanye West on MTV and MTV.com is getting closer and closer. Until then, a 60-second teaser of the futuristic, otherworldly clip should tide fans over. The sneak peek shows Perry floating and spinning somewhere in outer space, decked out in an ethereal and dazzling-white ensemble. She looks like an angelic alien princess, complete with brightly colored makeup and cat-eye contact lenses. The footage of Perry singing is cut with what looks like footage from “Animal Planet” or National Geographic, showing big cats hunting game. The remaining 30 seconds show Perry exploring the desolate terrain in an unknown land. She is wearing another highly complex and stylized outfit, a long silky train billowing in the wind. This time, she looks part femme fatale, part warrior goddess, with a little Lara Croft from “Tomb Raider” thrown in. Perry approaches what looks like a broken robot, wiping dust from its eyes. She is then shown reaching down to place her hand over the device’s heart, which lights up at her touch. At this point it’s safe to say that this is Perry’s most complex, stylized and out-there video production yet. The new clip premieres online at noon Thursday on MTV.com, VH1.com and LogoTV.com. Then, “MTV First: Katy Perry’s ‘E.T.’ ” will bow on air at 7:53 p.m. ET before tossing to an MTV.com live stream, featuring MTV News correspondent Sway’s exclusive chat with Perry, an interview with director Floria Sigismondi and reaction from Perry’s fans. Don’t miss the premiere of Katy Perry’s “E.T.” video, featuring Kanye West, at 7:53 p.m. ET Thursday on MTV, followed by our live “MTV First” interview with Katy Perry on MTV.com! My Chemical Romance Team With Fans On ‘Sing It For Japan’

Band will release charity version of latest single and fan-fueled video, with all proceeds going to Red Cross efforts. By James Montgomery My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way Photo: Samir Hussein/ Getty Images My Chemical Romance have announced plans to release a charity version of their song “Sing,” with all proceeds going to the Red Cross’ disaster relief efforts in Japan. But they’re not doing it alone. Instead, they’re reaching out to members of their MCRmy to help the cause. The band is asking fans to submit videos, pictures, drawings and written messages to the people of Japan through social sites like Twitter — using the hashtag #SINGItForJapan — which they’ll then compile into a video to be paired with the song. “We’d like to send messages of hope to Japan from people all over the world. … Go wherever your creativity and heart takes you. It could be as simple as you holding up a sign with ‘#SINGItForJapan’ written on it, or anything else you can dream up,” guitarist Ray Toro wrote on the band’s official site. “From what we’ve seen on tour, we know you guys can dream bigger than we ever could. Don’t be afraid to get your families involved. If you are inspired to do something alone, that’s great too. But we encourage you to get a big group of people from your community together. We want Japan to know just how many people are behind them.” Toro added that the band got the idea after noticing that, in the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunamis that ravaged Japan, fans were sending messages of support to the nation using the hashtag. “After the news of the earthquake and tsunami spread, I did what most people did. I stopped and stared at the TV. I sat at the computer, constantly refreshing CNN in hopes of some good news,” he wrote. “And I went to Twitter to see what people were saying. I noticed a hashtag, ‘SINGItForJapan,’ where you kids were writing messages of hope, saying prayers and sending your condolences and well wishes to survivors. It moved me in a profound way.” The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, March 30, at 8 p.m. ET. There’s no news on just when the band’s new version of “Sing” will be made available, but for more information — and to submit material for #SINGItForJapan — check out My Chemical Romance’s official site .
